Rosalie, a young French woman, is trying to keep her family together during German occupation. Her father is in a German prisoner of war camp, her mother is distant and cold, and her younger brother is working for the resistance. Franz, a German soldier stationed in France, finds himself conflicted by the war, and no longer believes in the cause. When Franz finds a wounded English pilot, he takes him to Rosalie to be hidden and cared for. Suspicious of Franz, Rosalie is unsure and uncertain. This was a gripping novel. The characters were well rounded and dynamic. The plot unfolded nicely and did not feel rushed or incomplete. I would love to read a sequel and see where the characters end up. Overall, highly recommended. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I have enjoyed each book in the Heroines of WWII Series so far, and A Rose for the Resistance was another awesome read in this series from Barbour Books. Rosalie lives in France until the Nazis arrived, changing their life forever. Angela K. Couch does such a nice job with this book. The writing is phenomenal, and I loved getting to know the characters and watch them grow as the story unfolds. I really enjoyed getting to know both Rosalie and Franz. I love Franz’s kind and caring personality, and the way he looked after and took care of Rosalie’s family. And though this book is fiction, I am sure she has captured many of the things ladies had to deal with during the war with Nazi’s and occupied France. Sometimes it is easy to forget the women and children and what they endure during wars, and the many that loose their lives as well. I appreciate the way Couch gives us vivid historical details of this War. If you enjoy WWII stories, you will really like this one! A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255. Rosalie Barrieau lives in France during the time of World War II. She originally attempts to avoid confrontation, However, she finds herself drawn into the conflict. Her brother Marcus assists the resistance. Meanwhile, She encounters a German soldier, who protects her on different occasions. He even brings a wounded British soldier to her home. Throughout the story, the trio works together. I loved the connections and interactions between the characters. The author creates a powerful and moving story. From the Bible that Rosalie Carrie’s with her on missions to the plants her family raises, this story drew me in completely. So if you enjoy Christian historical fiction, check out this book for yourself. I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own. A Rose for the Resistance by Angela K. Couch is the fifth book in the multi-author Heroines of WWll series. How will Rosalie Barrieau keep her brother safe when he wants to join the French resistance? Will the town of Sainte Mere Eglise ever be free from German occupation? When Rosalie is given the responsibility of caring for a downed British pilot, she must decide how much she is willing to sacrifice for freedom. When faced with so much pain and suffering Rosalie was able to think of others and even risked her life for what she believed in. The story was filled with romance, courage and edge-of-your-seat suspense; but most of all hope! I received this book from Celebrate-Lit for my honest review. no reviews | add a review

The back blurb of this book begins, in large typeface, I might add "A French woman and a German soldier form a truce" and there it is... the hook. I'm such a easy catch. I just adore a WWII romance. The plot is already so well known it's almost irrelevant. I am there for the scenery, the journey, the color. Well, I guess there are worse vices out there.
I enjoy when characters struggle to find their way, when they learn from their mistakes and when they resolve to do the "right' thing in hard situations. I thought the pacing was really good and I liked all of the characters, though I would have enjoyed a little more of the mother. ( )
