Review: Piglet and Papa follows the story of young piglet, who accidentally upsets her father and worries that he no longer loves her. She then goes around the farm asking the other animals if they love her, only to be told that there is someone else who lover her even more. Critique: This book is an excellent example of a fantasy because it features animals who talk and converse with one another, such as the young piglet and her father. Use: 1. I would read this book out loud to a class after a challenging day and follow up by discussing how getting frustrated, or angry with someone does not mean you no longer love them. 2. This book could also be read aloud during a unit on animal habitats. After reading, I would have the students identify the animals in the book and then identify the habitat, or home all of the animals share. Age Appropriateness: primary no reviews | add a review

This book is about how Piglet feels insecure and upset about whether or not her dad loves her. It all starts when she bites her dads tail a little to hard and he gets really angry at her. Piglet starts to feel as if her dad does not love her. Piglet decides to go on a walk and ask her friends if they love her. Each time she asks her friends if they love her they say what they love about her and then say but someone loves you more. This goes on until Piglet gets tired and hungry and decides to go back home. When she gets home she asks her dad if he loves her and he says of course and says what he loves about her.
This is a good fantasy because it teaches kids what love and kindness looks like through not only friends but family. It shows them how to show their love and express their feelings in a positive and healthy way. This is a good fantasy because in the book the piglet, her dad, and the other animals all can talk which draws the kids in, but pigs and animals cannot talk.
