"Love isn't always by the books in this charming romantic comedy about a bookseller discovering how to be the main character in her story. As a self-proclaimed book hater and a firm believer that the movie is always better, Drew Young didn't anticipate inheriting her grandma's bookstore, The Book Nook. She's in way over her head even before the shop's resident book club, comprising six of the naughtiest old ladies ever, begins to do what it does best-meddle. Bestselling author Jasper Williams is a hopeless romantic. When he meets Drew at his Book Nook signing event, he becomes determined to show her the beauty of reading. He curates a book bucket list in exchange for her help exploring the local Denver scene for his current manuscript. From river rafting to local restaurants, Drew begins to connect with Jasper in a way she thought only happened in fiction. When messy family ties jeopardize the future of The Book Nook, Drew is caught between a bookshelf and a hard place. She's reminded that real life isn't always big dreams and sweeping romance. But Jasper is the plot twist she never saw coming, and he's writing a happily ever after just for them"--… (more)

Amazing! Drew and Jasper are such a cute, relatable, and fun couple.

Drew inherited her grandmother’s bookstore, the Book Nook, when her grandmother passed away. She’s had a hard time adjusting to things, and losing herself along the way. Drew is an amazing photographer and given up on what she loves to continue the legacy of her grandmother’s bookstore, though she is not a reader.

Jasper is a romance author visiting the area for a new book. He asked Drew to show them around and gets her to read books and takes her on dates around those books.

Their love for one another develops easily, and naturally. Of course, there are bumps along the way with the grand gesture at the end.

Such a sweet story that had me feeling my feels and maybe a few tears were involved. ( )

I love Alexa Martin but this one wasn't my favourite, the romance felt like a given and the family plotline wasn't the most compelling. ( )

In her will, Drew Young's grandmother leaves her the bookstore called The Book Nook, a place that holds many special memories for Drew. While she is barely keeping her head above water, Drew deals with grief and financial woes. A group of ladies known as the Dirty Birds hosts a book club every week at the Book Nook. They contact famous romance author, Jasper Williams to speak at the bookstore. Jasper proves to not only be handsome, but also kind, so Drew offers to help him survey Colorado for locations to use in his next book. As Drew gets to know Jasper, she wonders if his romance roots are rubbing off on her.

Better than Fiction introduces Drew, a sarcastic character with a strong voice, as the protagonist. Unfortunately the character of Jasper is wildly underdeveloped leaving readers knowing very little about him other than the fact that he is almost too perfect. However other characters in the story provide excellent support and offer several smile inducing moments. The plot is very light but does deal briefly with heavier issues of the loss of a loved one and emotional abuse. Overall, Better than Fiction is an entertaining romance that ends with a very satisfying conclusion. ( )

Read this last month but all I could remember before looking at other reviews was that it's a nice guide to Colorado. I need to start journalling books sooner. 2022 Read. ( )
