Originally published in Italy as "La Miniatura gotica." There is in-depth discussion of Italian gothic manuscripts with very small style changes among the schools. (I'm going to have to be a much better artist before I can recognize them!) She talks a bit about France, Germany, Bohemia, and England, but does none of them well. Very little textual explanation of styles in countries other than Italy. She should have stuck to Italy and called it, "Italian Gothic Illuminated Manuscripts." But there are 69 color plates to illustrate her points. ( )
