A saccharine little tale of Mother's Day wherein everyone in the Hundred-Acre Wood gets a present for Kanga except Roo, who forgot. But Kanga makes it okay with a little motherly love.

I find I Love You, Mama! more interesting as another example of Disney recycling. This is an abridged and simplified reader version adapted by Isabel Gaines from her previous work, World's Best Mama from the "Winnie the Pooh First Reader" series. Both versions use the exact same illustrations by Mark Marderosian and Fred Marvin, only the text and title have changed. Curiously this new version has been published in the "Step into Reading" series as both Step 1 and Step 2. I believe the series changed the scale on its reading levels at some point, converting their Super Early and Early levels to Step 1 and moving the rest of the levels up a notch.

We bought this just in time for my wife's third Mother's Day.

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:
