An adventure for those who haven’t yet found their fairy-tale ending...The worldbuilding is so expanded that the story’s fairy-tale origins add little; still, this is an interesting journey of self-discovery with plenty of magic, action, an enemies-to-lovers romance, and a strongly developed theme of becoming your own person despite your origins. An entertaining jaunt. Notable Lists
"In a kingdom on the brink of ruin, one wicked stepsister will use her wits, cunning and fortitude (plus a little help from her fairy godparent) to embark on a dangerous quest for a magical relic that will save her people"-- No library descriptions found. |

When Ellarose seeks her out to help save the kingdom, it's tempting to hold to her Machiavellian mindset, but as she comes to understand the level of toxic corruption threatening the kingdom, she can't ignore it. Neither can she ignore the way her attraction to the prickly knight Vee, daughter of perhaps the most corrupt member of the king's council, keeps growing.
Add in three nearly impossible quests, a very unorthodox fairy godmother, plus lots of action and you have a compulsive page-turner. Great work, Jenny! ( )
