I admit the prefaces, taken in a very long read, are less exciting than the plays. However I was interested in the topics, and the information about western society revealed between these widely separated covers, is immense. The prose is clear, and while the number of epigrams is fewer per acre, the time goes quicker than you think. If you are in search of epigrams and footnotes, this is a suitable format. ( )

Disambiguation notice
One-volume edition first published in 1965. Please don't combine with the three-volume edition published under the same title in the 1990s. Completely different works.

Please also avoid combining with the 1934 Constable edition titled Prefaces by Bernard Shaw. It is similarly organised to this one, but much less complete (37 vs 58 pieces).
