What a great debut book from an indie author! We dive right into the world of academia in Edinburgh, Scotland. I recently traveled there and so reading about all the different locations was so fun for me since I can’t wait to go back!

First up we meet Fern, a responsible older sibling that became guardian to her two younger siblings after losing their parents in a freak accident. She’s finally off to do something for herself for once after years of being the caregiver: studying for her doctorate in Edinburgh.

Little does she know she’s about to get pulled into a world of magic, curses, and Fae. Enter Calum, her new department head and advisor…. Or is that all he is??

I loved how the author weaves Fae lore seamlessly with other Scottish mythology and creatures to create a somewhat unique spin on the Fae / fated mate theme. We have a Fae Prince trying to save his people, a reluctant heroine, some truly delicious sexual tension (and eventual 🌶️🌶️), along with interesting side characters and the promise of more in the next book in the series coming out in March 2023.

Check out this great debut & get ready to be inspired to book a trip to Scotland! ( )
