Henry and Lark had cancer as boys. They were in the hospital at the same time and became friends. Both the hospital and continue on with their lives. They are now college age. Henry is the star quarterback of the college food ball team. Lark is there on a scholarship for dance. Henry is reluctant to acknowledge Lark as no one at the college except the coach knows about his cancer. Eventually Henry and Lark are in the same room--pre-calculus as student (Lark) and tutor (Henry.) They start a friendship that turns into more. Henry has to decide how important Lark is to him. He also has to decide if he will let his dad rule his life now as an adult. What will he decide?

I enjoyed this book. I liked that Lark has no problems with being himself at either stage of their lives. Henry thinks back to their hospital stay and realizes things that happened then have an effect on today. I liked that. When Henry finally loosens up, it is beautiful. Henry finally realizes how important Lark is to him. He is very supportive of Lark. He is comfortable with Lark's family, more than his own. Henry's changes change all those around him. Lark is cool through it all. He could have been hurt or angry, but he lets Henry know he is there but does not force any issue.

I look forward to the next book in the series and hope there are more coming. ( )
