Ankle Snatcher is a monster under-the-bed-type story for adults. Though it didn't rock my world Amazon Originals rarely do. I dig Hendrix but short stories aren't my preferred medium of storytelling. It helped to pass the time alright, though. ( )

This was a fun short horror story. Grady's inner dialog skills are superb, and the narration was on point. ( )

Short read about a guy (Marcus) whose father told him when he was six that his mother was killed by an Ankle Snatcher (which only grabs ankles/people from underneath the bed when the lights are out). His father is accused of the mother’s murder and goes to prison. Marcus believes his dad killed her. Some years later Marcus falls for a girl and brings her home. After a night of passion, the girl gets up from the bed in the dark and the Ankle Snatcher gets her. Now Marcus believes the story his father told him. I didn’t find this story scary at all, and I found the main character to be a bit weak and wimpy. I enjoyed the other books in the Amazon Creature Feature series much more. ( )

Not much of a story. Seems to be a throw away. Grady could have done better than this. The hype was not worth it for the "Amazon Creature Feature" collection so far. ( )

Ankle Snatcher by Grady Hendrix is a terrifying short story. If you fear what lurks underneath your bed at night, this story will make your fears seem like a fairy tale. When Marcus was a child, his father blamed the boogeyman who lives under the bed for killing his mother. Before his father left, he warned Marcus to leave all of the lights on in the house, or the boogeyman would get him. Marcus didn’t really believe any of his father’s survival suggestions, but he never forgot them. Instead, he believed his father killed his mother.

As an adult, Marcus brings his new girlfriend to his house and she spends the night. This is where the story begins to get creepy. Shortly thereafter, the story takes many unexpected turns. I truly enjoyed this creepy tale that checked all of the boxes in the horror department. Many times, I blurted out “No way!” while listening. 😅

Ankle Snatcher is part of the Creature Feature collection from Amazon. I listened to the audiobook for free with my Amazon Prime membership. The audiobook is available “Only From Audible.”

I have photos and additional information that I'm unable to include here. It can all be found on my blog, in the link below.
