I was afraid I might start to get tired of the formula of the Cherub books, but this was very tightly plotted and entertaining. This time the mission is about a terrorist group that tries to defend animal rights. (Does Muchamore have anything againts enviromentalists? Up to this point in the series, out of six books two have dealt with an environmentalist terrorist organization and one with a pro-animal rights terrorist organization).

Muchamore keeps the reader interested with excellent character work, a balanced treatment of complex issues, and realistic fast-moving adventures. The characters act consistently with their personalities and they are well-drawn, with their own virtues and flaws.

A couple of comments, hidden between spoiler tags:

Another incredible performance from James, a successful and extremely dangerous mission, and he still doesn't get the black shirt. What else does he have to do?

I don't like it how often violence against a boy by a girl is treated like a joke, while the opposite would be appalling. Why is it OK for Kerry to slap his boyfriend?

I was sad about Kyle and his boyfriend. It would be nice for him to find a boyfriend on campus. Lauren as per usual shines. James is his usual lucky self. ( )

This was a pretty good book. Though in the beginning I ended up hating Lauren because she blackmailed her brother, which to me was an all time low. Though the mission in the beginning seemed like it would be boring ended up picking up its pace as I read more. ( )
