Crinkleroot, author/illustrator Jim Arnosky's grandfatherly guide to the wild, returns in this eleventh work of picture-book natural history. In this entry in the series, the reader learns about the different kinds of natural habitat - wetlands, woodlands, roadways, grain fields, grasslands, and drylands - and the wealth of creatures that call them home...

Every bit as engaging as its predecessors, with a wealth of information, lovely artwork and a charming guide, Crinkleroot's Guide to Knowing Animal Habitats also features a search and find element, both on specific pages, and throughout the book overall. Both educational and entertaining, it is a book I would recommend to young animal lovers, as well as to fellow fans of Crinkleroot. ( )

Book description
Crinkleroot is already known to thousands of children from the PBS series Backyard Safari. In a format similar to Crinkleroot's Guide to Crinkle Cove, young readers will learn about eighty different kinds of wildlife in four different habitats. Jim Arnosky's easygoing narrative and softly hued illustrations are perfect for young readers who are fascinated with the natural world.
