Summary: This book tells the story of Alexander the great, all his battles, and his legacy.

Personal Reaction: I like this book because it does offer a lot information and the way it is divided is broken by battles which makes it easier to read. I did not like that this book said very little about Greece or its culture. No tone was set. It jumps from introducing Alexander the Great to each battle he fought.

Extension Ideas: Draw a map of Alexander the Great's empire. Learn about Greek culture.

This book is about Alexander the Great. The relationships with his family and the battles that he fought are described very well. I never knew that his relationship with his mother was questioned and that cleopatra was his stepmother. After his father was murdered by his own people, Alexander became king over his people and then he defeated Darius, king of persia.

I thought that this book could be great in a history lesson. I would assign books like this for a book report for history. I think that 4th- to 5th graders might find this very interesting because the book also has descriptive paintings.

I enjoyed this book (I am a history major) I found it fascinating to learn about someone that was a great leader. I found it very interesting that he was even merciful to his enemies.
