En samling noveller som handlar om hur livet i Guatemala förändrades för enskilda personer under och strax efter militärkuppen i landet 1954. En kupp som f ö stöddes av CIA.
Jag gillar att Asturias ger oss inblickar i vanliga människors öden, och jag lärde mig mycket om Guatemala. Men lite för blommigt språk använder han, nobelpristagare som han är. Ibland ser man inte skogen för alla träden, och poängerna går mig ett par gånger förbi.
Läsvärt, men jag hade hoppats på något ännu intressantare. ( )
