    I'm Dirty! by Kate McMullan (lquilter)
    lquilter: Kate McMullan's "I'm Dirty!" is much more enjoyable than Mark Todd's "Monster Trucks". There's just one truck -- the backhoe -- but it can do a lot, and it has a lot of action and personality. Plus, the truck in "I'm Dirty" is neither male nor female -- it's just a truck with character.… (more)

Sexist. A fine concept: "monster trucks", the really big trucks in our lives and the tasks they do. But virtually all of them have masculine names or are described with masculine pronouns. Why, because they're big? Because books about trucks are supposed to appeal only to boys, who might be offended by the presence of the female pronoun? Alas I cannot recommend this book. ( )
