While some of this I really enjoyed, I can't give this more than 2.5 - 3 stars. The story is well-structured, some of the descriptions are great, I found the science interesting and I thought the characters were, for the most part, rounded. But I can't forgive Strindberg's chauvenistic and misogynistic views. It didn't say that women were inferior once. It claimed it on nearly every page. I know this was written in the 1890s but it was too much for me. ( )

Story of Borg who visits the Stockhom archipelago to save the fishing industry. He is rejected by the inhabitants and deteriorates in a state of isolation. Original publication was 1890 and reflects the leading ideas of the time. ( )
