While waiting for a streetcar on a corner in Minneapolis, Tom Blake, son of the city's police chief, befriends a young Englishman with a recent head wound and complete amnesia. His efforts to unravel the man's past are deterred when the stranger is kidnapped by a band of Egyptian hoodlums. When Tom and his best friend are also kidnapped by the gang and left to starve in a basement full of stolen mummies, they escape with their patient amidst a rain of gunfire; Tom's parents are mildly concerned, and advise him to stay out of the line of fire in future. Tom skillfully unravels the secret of the mummies, and the noble white Minnesotans triumph over the swarthy foreigners.
