I love how the boy was determined to rescue his frightened dog from the edge of a cliff at the peak of a storm. I would save my dog too if I had to like Axel did. Jean Craighead George is an amazing author as well. ( ) The story of a boy who must save his dog from a cliff he is trapped on could ask for a much better author/illustrator duo. While Jean Craighead George narrates a story of rock climbing, Wendall Minor explodes the scene with his beautiful over-the-top attention to detail in his paintings of the scene. The book has a lulling effect that encourages the reader to feel swept away in the setting and suspense of the story. Presented in a lush, gorgeous collection of illustrations this story is sure to please even if the reader for not share the protagonist's affinity for rock climbing. no reviews | add a review
