I "Fienden inom oss" skildrar Guillou som vanligt ett "nästan-sant" förlopp. Den här gången har han koncentrerat sig kring terroristskräcken som spridit sig över världen sedan 11:e september. Han vill visa oss vad som kan hända om vi inte tänker om, och slutar se varje muslim (eller person som ser ut att vara muslim) som terrorist.
Men det lyfter inte. Kanske predikar han i mitt fall för för redan frälsta. Eller så är det helt enkelt inte tillräckligt bra. Det känns ganska styltigt långa perioder (med riktigt intressanta passager däremellan), och personporträtten är ofantligt platta. Oftast när det handlar om Ewa och Pierres privatliv och sociala kontakter tänker man: "Bort det, driv huvudhandlingen framåt istället". Precis som var fallet med Carl Hamiltons privata eskapader i Coq rouge-serien samt Arn och Cecilias samliv.
Sammanfattningsvis tycker jag inte "Fienden inom oss" är sensationell nog, jag tycker inte Guillou är elak nog mot politiker och polis och huvudpersonerna som porträtteras känns ointressanta.
