This book introduces the men and women who risked everything to explore the world, from the highest mountains to the deep darkness of the oceans.

"The Picture Book of Great Explorers" by Gillian Clements is an informational book about the world's most notable and accomplished explorers. The book covers the earliest explorers to astronauts, detailing where they went, what they discovered, and how that impacted the world. I liked this book because it covers a wide variety of explorers. I think any child could find an explorer in the book that interested them. However, it is almost too much information given at once. This book would be good to bring out at multiple points during the year for history class. It could also be used as a research project for discussing the most famous explorers. This book is a good informational book because it is presented in a pleasing way with understandable language. It isn't overly fact-heavy. The media used for this book is watercolor. ( )
