This book isn't just for helping communication between you and your children, this book also helped me communicate and compromise better with my husband, stopped a lot of arguments in their tracks. Can't speak highly enough of it. ( )

Epigraph
Dedication
To my Judy, and to the hundreds of children I haved counseled, who provided me the opportunity to learn about parenthood.

To Elaine, my companion, counselor, and colleague in parenthood, whose penetrating insights so frequently enriched my own thinking and contributed immeasurably to the development and growth of Parent Effectiveness Training.

To the group of dedicated P.E.T. instructors, whose faith and inspired efforts as pioneers of our program in their own communities helped shape my dream into a reality.
First words
Everyone blames parents for the troubles of youth and for the troubles that young people appear to be causing society.
