Depressing, unpleasant people. Read to half-way, then skimmed to end to be sure bad guys get come-upence.
Campbell's writing is good of course; the evil folks are known from the start, and they and the environment are not pretty. What holds your interest is following Whistler and other's tracking the leads to old murder of child and recent death of AIDS victim who wanted to tell what he knew of earlier death. ( )
