This book is a collection of short stories and novellas that inspired seven of the more famous works of SF. The original stories behind "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury, "Childhood's End" by Arthur C. Clarke, "The Dream Master" by Roger Zelazny, "The Time Hoppers" by Robert Silverberg, "The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch" by Philip K. Dick, "Tomorrow's World" by Evan Hunter, and "Space For Hire" by William F. Nolan.

I have to admit that I have never read any of the novels these short stories and novellas inspired. This would surprise anyone who knows me and my reading habits. However, I can also say that this book earned it's five stars by making me want to search out these novels and read them if only to see how these shorter works evolved into the novel length stories. I highly recommend this book. ( )
