Asquith, (1852 – 1928) Margot (1865 – 1945) (née Tennant, step-Grandmother of the modern actress Helena Bonham Carter), shows us upper Class Liberal life in the period of her husband's second marriage and Prime Ministry. (1908-16). There are portraits of her rivals, and some are quite insightful, but her friends are always “Polite, Simple and Direct.” Chapter XII deals with the kind of attacks successful politicians and their families were subjected to during the War. This autobiography was not as cruel as her diaries, apparently. There is practically nothing in this volume about Churchill. ( ) no reviews | add a review
