Oh dear.  The pictures are fantastic.  Edwina is a wonderful dancer, chimney sweep, waiter (except if the customer orders eggs ;).  But the people don't appreciate her talents, so she decides to be happy being just a mom.   Because after all Edward isn't competent to be a house-husband and care for the little ones himself.  So, I cannot recommend the story here at all.  Maybe you could make up your own words so you could share the pix with your pre-reader? This charming fantasy is the sequel to the beloved children's book, "Edward the Emu." In this story, Edwina lays ten eggs, leaving her mate shocked. Because of this shock, Edwina tells Edward to stay home at the zoo to sit on the eggs while she goes job hunting. She looks in many different places but is followed by a series of "YEEK'S" and "AHH'S!' Edwina ultimately decides to stay home with her mate and babies, the smallest of which they name "Yeek." ( )

This was an excellent book and one I can see children truly enjoying! It is just as fun as 'Edward the Emu' with it's rhyming and hilarious scenes. I think this would be a good book to read to students when career day rolls around, so that they can explore the different professions just as Edwina did. ( )
