This novel is a light, engaging, easy suspense/thriller that reads like a made-for-TV movie. The characters are familiar (tough, loving, nice guy Irish cop who misses and loves his deceased wife; adorable kids; feisty Irish nanny; a cocky fatherly priest; a pushy, sexy reporter, etc.) and there is the evenly paced plot with short cliffhanger chapters that keeps the reader turning pages. Enjoyable and recommended for die-hard Patterson and Ledwidge fans. ( )

My first Mike Bennett book and first Patterson in a long while, didn't disappoint.

A vigilante killer calling himself "The Teacher" targets New York City's elite, leaving a trail of bodies and a city gripped by fear. Detective Mike Bennett, juggling the demands of his high-pressure job with caring for his ten adopted children, all down with flu at the same time, finds himself on the hunt for this elusive killer. As the body count rises and the clock ticks down, Bennett must decipher The Teacher's twisted motives and stop him before he unleashes a devastating plan that threatens the entire city. ( )

This is the second book in the James Patterson series about Michael Bennett, a detective in the NYPD. The series start out with Michael a NYPD homicide detective trained in hostage rescue tacticts. His wife is terminally ill (and ultimately dies of cancer) and their ten adopted children. After reading the first book, I thought I read on trying to get to the recently released seventh book of the series Burn.

In this book, Michael and the NYPD is up against a serial killer who calls himself “The Teacher” who has been carrying out a barrage of murders focusing on rich and privileged. On the homefront, Michael is battling a massive flu outbreak that has all of his children sick.

It is a quick listen (or read) and didn’t require reading the first book to understand the story line. ( )

"Fresh from a lethal entanglement with some the darkest players in the global intelligence services, Michael Gannon heads to the safest place he can think of: deep in the wild of Utah on the ranch of one of his oldest and closest war buddies. But when his friend's brother is found dead in the rocky foothills of Grand Teton, Gannon realizes there are some things more important than keeping your head down. Is his death just one in a string of grisly murders mysteriously occurring around national parks - or a part of something even more sinister?"
This is my first time reading this author and it was nothing short of page turning. The plot line was original and the twists and turns are head spinning. There was obviously a great deal of research done in order to reveal the most interesting events possible in a very unique way. Heart-pounding, thrill-inducing and spine-chilling storytelling at its finest. ( )
