Fiction. Romance. HTML:

WHO IS BETH ALLEN? AND WHO--OR WHAT--IS SHE RUNNING FROM?

Beth only wishes she knew. Six months ago, she woke up in a shabby Arizona hotel room with no memory of her past. What she did have was a bruised face, $2,000 in cash--and a little boy who called her "Mama."

What's her real name? Is she a victim or a criminal? The child's savior or his kidnapper? Until her memory returns and she can answer those questions, Beth knows she has to hide. She's chosen Shelter Valley as her sanctuary.

The town welcomed her, as it welcomes all others, and Beth has begun to fashion a new life for herself and her child. But when she falls in love with Greg Richards, her sense of sanctuary is threatened. Because Greg's the sheriff of Shelter Valley--the one man who could uncover the truth about her past, a truth that might destroy the woman she's become.

Beth has a two-year-old son, and she also has amnesia. Beth feels she is in danger and is on the run, but she’s not sure what she’s running from and she wonders if she is a victim or a criminal. She decides to stay in Shelter Valley, Arizona, while she looks for answers to her past. Greg is the sheriff of the small town of Shelter Valley. Beth attracts the attention of Greg, who is the last person she wants noticing her. Greg is falling for Beth more and more each day (and he thinks the feeling is mutual), but he doesn’t understand why Beth won’t share anything about herself, and keeps everything hidden away inside.

This was a very entertaining read combining a mix of romance, mystery, and suspense, and an interesting premise. It had a great cast of characters and I really liked Beth and Greg, who both had issues from their pasts to deal with. I loved the small-town setting of Shelter Valley, a place where everyone looks out for one another. All in all, this was a very enjoyable read. ( )

from the convention; Beth wakes up in a motel with amnesia, and a toddler calling her Mama. Taking the name she registered at the motel, Beth Allen, she reads a story about Shelter Valley and moves there keeping a low profile, until the Sheriff takes a love interest in her. Her memory hasn't returned, so she shies away, until the missing person postcard lands on his desk. ( )

Very surprised that I liked this story - I would not have picked it because of the book cover - but it was a bonus book that was included with Suspicious: The Sheriff of Shelter Valley by Heather Graham
