I thought this was an incredible historical fiction book and I don't understand why it is not more popular. It definitely deserves to be read and I think it holds much literary value. ( )

Wow, what an unbelievable story. Nevin tells the saga of General John C. Fremont and his wife who lived and breathed in the 19th century. The historical accuracy of this book is remarkable, while at the same time Nevin makes the reader feel as if they are side by side Fremont his whole life. This book has awakened in me new emotions about life, love, and time. The events shaping the Fremonts' lives are fascinating and true - I have been so excited to learn more about them since reading this book. This book has just soared to the top of my favorites. ( )
