I recommend it, of course, to city kids, but also especially to those few vegetarians who are so righteous that they can't respect or cope with historical or classic lit. that mentions butchering and hunting.

Tots might enjoy the pictures, but it's mostly aimed at kids probably 8-12.

This book is more interesting than I thought it would be. It follows a year in the life of a family farm in Ohio. ( )

With statistics, interviews, photos, and commentary, Michael Rosen presents family life on a modern farm. Our Farm contains plenty of numbers and facts, but it's more than just research and information.

This book is the story of a family who enjoys their life and each other. Each season has different jobs and different joys. As can be seen in the afterword and in some commentary, Michael Rosen doesn't always agree with the lifestyle of the Bennetts - especially hunting. But he presents an honest picture of their way of life.

This is the perfect book for anyone wanting to know about rural life, life on a farm, or just to enjoy reading about one family's approach to life.

Verdict: Whether or not you live in a farming community, this is a great look at a rapidly vanishing way of life in America. Buy it for your patrons to see themselves - or experience a different world.

A detailed account of one family's life on the farm. A wonderful non-fiction collection of the different chores, seasons, animals and recreational activities found on this family farm. The entire family-Father, Mother and 5 children combine together to narrate their stories. The 7 differing perspectives are at times both informational and humorous. Photographs dominate this book-each 2 page spread contain 2-7 pictures.

A year on the farm of the Bennett family of Ohio told by the five kids and parents living on the farm. It was really interesting to hear about what happened on the farm during each of the four seasons of the year. These kids work (and play) hard. Lots of color photos add to the narratives from the members of the family. ( )
