Leigh Mitchell is the sheriff of her small sleepy Indiana town, the town where she grew up. About to turn 30, she’s wants to break out of her reliable mold and have a little adventure.

Will Scott is a DEA officer trying to stay alive long enough to testify against a powerful drug cartel. The little town offers him a haven, and a pleasant childhood memory of one summer spent here in his youth.

Attraction sparks when these two meet at a carnival, and Will decides to stay in town a few days. But when a wild teenager turns up missing, Will becomes a prime suspect in an investigation that uncovers the uglier side of the town’s small-mindedness.

Great back stories, realistic events, the small town locale became a real place. Great use of imagery, language, characterization.
Interesting use of POV--occasional use of very minor characters for POV. ( )
