I sort of, kind of 'know' Dan Gutman - he once mentioned INFO magazine in his newspaper column, and we exchanged a couple of emails after that.
But that didn't influence my rating of his book. At all. This is, quite simply, one of the best books I've ever read about baseball. The fact that it covers a fun subject - cheating - probably has something to do with that.
It's well-researched, well-written, and just plain fun to read. My kind of book. Too bad it's out of print, but you can still buy a copy on Dan's web site. (By the way, Dan says he hates the title - scroll WAY down):
