First Mike Ripley I have read and yet 15th in the Angel crime series! You just don't see the books around and I got this from the library and loved it. Very funny, Angel character brilliant - very laid back even with his new baby. I expect I missed alot of allusions from not having read any of the earlier books but still enjoyed it. The investigation was interesting as well and some fun escapades including line dancing. Now out to track down some more in the series. ( )

Epigraph
Dedication
In memory of Michael Dibdin and Rodney Wingfield, who went on ahead during the writing of this book. But especially for Alyson and Beth, who were there at the start, 20 years ago.
First words
I'd never done an official risk assessment of how best to act when looking down the muzzle of a loaded gun being waved six inches under your nose.
