I liked this book because it was very informative on not only the tradition of Ramadan, but also on the logistics behind how and why people celebrate the occasion when they do. For example, the book explains, “To know the day of the month, most people look at a calendar. Long ago, people counted the months by the changing shape of the moon”. This was helpful for me as a reader to get an understanding of how long this tradition has been celebrated, and would certainly be helpful to a younger reader as well. This informational book includes illustrations, such as different complexions, sizes, and ethnicities of people who might celebrate Ramadan, which I really liked because it lets the reader know the wide scope at which the Muslim religion is practiced. Illustrations such as these really help add to the written text as well as engage the reader in my opinion. The back of the book also includes a thesaurus filled with the new words and their pronunciations that readers came across in the book including words such as “Allah” and “Mosque”. I liked this addition because it helps reinforce the information they just learned. The main idea of this text was to educate the reader on the customs of this sacred Islamic tradition. ( )

1 of 4 for non-Muslims. Very accurate, larger font, all facts written for non-Muslims. Excellent, especially for public schools.
