Op het terras van de Villa Magari, een landgoed buiten Florence, zitten drie jongemannen bijeen in de stralende zon: Steve Price, een welgestelde Amerikaan, Kurt von Schill, een getalenteerd pianist en Hamilton Johns, een veelbelovend schilder.

Book description
Three young men (a Brit, American, and German) share a house, and a passion for the three daughters of an Italian nobleman on the outskirts of Florence, before the beginning of World War II. With the outbreak of the war, they are separated by time, distance and loyalties. Tragedy and triumph prevail when fate intervenes and reunites the six friends in war-ravaged Italy.
