I really enjoyed "Splendor". I don't know why some didn't like the ending. I think it was befitting of the overall circumstances of each person. The only book in the Luxe series I believe is lacking is "Rumors". It was rather slow up until the end. ( )

I really enjoyed this series, which combines aspects of historical fiction with the trashiness of the Gossip Girl type novels. I will agree with many others and say that I was disappointed with the ending. I think I understand why the author wrote it that way, but I was hoping that Diana and Henry would end up happily together in the end. ( )

With this concluding book, [b:The Luxe|1254951|The Luxe (Luxe, #1)|Anna Godbersen|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51sRUR+7c0L._SL75_.jpg|1243729] officially enters in my all-time favorite series.Carolina: Although I sort of hated her in the first to books, I actually came to like her. After all, she was once a poor maid, forced to watch the élite of Manhattan's wealth everyday and, as many do, after getting a first taste she wanted more and pretended too much; however, after the annulment of her wedding with Leland, she finds herself in a whole new dimension: she, with her sister, has the power to change the future of society, creating a new category of people: wealth without class.Elizabeth, Snowden and Teddy: Discovering Snowden's real reason was a schock to me but I have no complaints about their finale, they fit together, he's been in love with her for years and he is such a sweetheart! :) I had a feeling they'd end up together.Henry and Diana: The beginning of the book, where Diana finally finds Henry and they spend some time together, is actually my one favorite parts, along with her accepting to be Henry's mistress. In this final installment of The Luxe, their love and need is clear and powerful es ever. Then, there is Henry's father unexpected death (yeah, best WTF? moment of the whole series :D.) Of course, it couldn't end well and I must admit it almost broke my heart :) I really wanted them to be together. But at the end, Henry finally grew up and Diana, as the free spirit she was, couldn't be his second - and gossiped - wife. But, Hey!, couldn't she be a little more gentle and loving?! Henry bought her a ring and got down on his knee and all she could say was, "Don't worry, you'll fall in love with someone else."?? That really got me mad. I would have preferred something more like, "Don't worry, we'll see each other again in the future and maybe then...", but you take what you get.Penelope: Oh, yesssss, The Bitch. She had it coming and watching - well, reading - her fall was sweeter than sugar. Penny fooled by the Prince, defeated at her own game? I so enjoyed her ruination. Poor thing. ( )

What a disappointing end to what was otherwise a fun and captivating series. ( )
