(watched first in 2016) Slow and somewhat murky storyline, with only a narrow glimpse into many of the characters' lives. Much was a tease hinting at more backstory, but not providing it. What made this film stand out was the visual beauty of the landscape.

(watched again a year later) I'd just watched 'You've Been Trumped' and I was struck by much the same story and location. Sadly, real life is not as good as fiction in this case. ( )

A movie about finding yourself and what matters in life, set in Scotland. Quiet, gentle and slow pacing. Leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy. ( )

Wonderfully weird comedy from Bill Forsyth, first saw it on cable, which has introduced me to many movies I might never have heard of. Well acted, strange, lovely scenery, and always nice to see Burt. I'm giving it an extra half-star for Mark Knopfler's elegant score, without which it would be seriously diminished. ( )
