This is a book about a boy named Pierre. All he says is "I don't care." His parents tried to get him to say other things but he never did. In the end he finally said something other than "I don't care."

A picture book about a boy who does not care, but hopefully learns too.

Pierre, another of Sendak's naughty protagonists, responds to everything his parents say to him with, "I don't care." This all changes after he tries those words out on a lion, who proceeds to eat him. Only after he is shaken out of the lion, does he begin to care. A cautionary tale about attitude, manners and character development for the very youngest readers. Especially if they want to read a 'chapter book' like their older siblings. ( )

Pierre is a young boy who just "don't care." His mother and father try to care for him and he doesn't care. He comes across a lion who will eat him, but he still doesn't care. When the doctor helps the boy out from the sick lion's belly, he starts to care. Even though the boy gets eaten by a lion, I still really enjoyed this book. It is a great piece to use to introduce chapter books to children. Pierre looks very similar to the little boy in Where the Wild Things Are. Also, like Max, Pierre has a lot of energy and imagination. ( )

A little boy named Pierre only ever says "I don't care" and this attitude gets him in trouble with a big lion. Teaches that you have to take care of yourself and others. ( )
