NCLA Review - Allie Fortune is the only female private investigator in New York City. It’s December 1947 and she’s trying to find David, the man of her dreams, who until a few months ago, had been declared missing and presumed dead in the war. The FBI confirmed he was alive, but wouldn’t divulge anything more. Allie’s friend, Jack, an FBI agent, comes to her with a request for her help. The woman Jack had loved, had left him and had become a nurse in the war. She now has sent him a cryptic letter from Berlin, pleading for his help. Allie must quickly come up with a plan to get herself and Jack into the war-torn divided city of Berlin, find Maggie and an orphan girl and somehow get them all out again. She discovers some surprising things from her own past while attempting this rescue mission. Rating: 4 —VJ ( )
