Normaal houd ik niet zo van bundels waarin korte verhalen en gedichten van totaal verschillende schrijvers zijn verzameld. Voor deze bundel, waarin verhalen zijn verzameld van schrijvers uit voormalig West- en Oost-Duitsland, heb ik een uitzondering gemaakt. De verhalen en gedichten behandelen één thema: persoonlijke herinneringen aan of een fictieve beschrijving van de Duits-Duitse grens en de Berlijnse muur. De bundel is verschenen in het kader van de herdenking van de val van de Berlijnse muur op 9 november 1989.

Zwanzig Jahre ist es her, dass die Mauer im Verlauf eines Sommers bröckelte, im Herbst wankte und schließlich in der Nacht vom 9. November 1989, wenige Wochen nach dem vierzigsten Geburtstag der Deutschen Demokratischen Republiek am 7. Oktober fiel.
