Summary: This is a book about young Matt who goes to visit his grandpa Sam. Sam is the driver of the zamboni machine at the local hockey rink. Matt gets to visit the hockey rink with his grandpa and watch him on the zamboni. And the last day before he goes back home Matt is surprised by his grandpa letting him drive the zamboni machine.

Personal Reaction: This was a cute book about a boy spending time with his grandpa. I know how much my son loved spending time with his grandpa digging in the garden and playing in the manure, and while this is much cleaner I can only imagine that young boys would love this book.

Classroom Extension:
1. This would be a fun book during the winter when some students may visit an ice skating rink. This would be even more fun if a trip to the ice rink were scheduled as a field trip.
2. Students could discuss other fun things they have done with their grandparents.
3. This would be a good book to read before grandparents day.

Matt goes to visit his grandpa Sam in the city. His grandpa drives a zamboni for the town hockey rink. Sam took Matt to go see a real hockey game and matt got to see him grandpa drive the zamboni during half time. After the game Matt got to drive the zamboni with his grandpa. Matt's grandpa is called Sam the Zamboni Man.
