This book is about a day that every child (and even some adults) would love to be on the calendar. The little boy in this story is excited because it his favorite day of the year, "Yes Day'. On yes day no matter what the little boy asks for the only answer he gets back is "yes". He ate pizza for breakfast, did not have to do chores, got to pick out junk cereal at the grocery store, have a best friend over for dinner, and many other things. At the end of the day, he is allowed to stay up late, but at the end of the day he asks if this day ever must end, and the answer is yes. It was a very cute story, I know I have often wished for a "yes" day. ( )

Yes Day! it's a very fun book that tells a story about a little boy whose parents say YES to for a whole day in all the creative activities the child wants to do that day. Children enjoy the different ideas that the character has like having "pizza for breakfast". They think is very silly and they come up with their own ideas for their Yes days. Fun book for young children and the illustrations really attract their attention. ( )

"Yes Day" is every kid's fantasy. The boy is told yes to pizza fro breakfast, staying up late, not cleaning his room, and picking the sweetest cereal ever. As a kid, there were many things that I was told no to like: staying up late or sleeping out on a school night, no soda, and I had to clean my room when I was told. This would have been the best day of my childhood if I were given a "Yes Day" and was allowed to do as a pleased. I think this book can teach children about the words yes and no and why they are so important. Often times when a child is told they cannot do something or no by an adult, there is usually a reason. Having one "Yes Day" a year, in my opinion, can show children how to appreciate it and take responsibility every other day of the year. ( )

A little boy enjoys "Yes Day" in this exuberant picture-book romp from author Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrator Tom Lichtenheld. On this day, every request the boy makes, from eating pizza for breakfast to staying up late, is met with a resounding "yes" from his parents. It's the best day of the year...!

This author/illustrator team has created quite a few engaging picture-books, from The OK Book to Duck! Rabbit!, and Yes Day! is another one to add to the list. An exploration of a common childhood fantasy - namely, being allowed to do whatever one likes - it is quite entertaining, pairing a humorous back-and-forth text with amusing cartoon-style illustrations. Recommended to young children who dream of having a "yes day" of their own, and to anyone looking for picture-books featuring themes that kids themselves would probably approve. ( )
