"Only total desperation could reunite Dianna Kelley with Sam MacKenzie, the irresistible bad boy she walked out on ten years ago. But the fearless firefighter with the awesome wilderness skills is the only one who can take her where she needs to go. It's a gamble--tracking down her endangered sister while keeping Sam and their undeniable attraction at arm's length. Not easy when they're trekking into a remote corner of the Rockies, where she's got to trust her former lover with her life. Despite their past, Sam never could refuse a damsel in distress, especially one who has haunted his dreams for years. He'll help find her sister and get Dianna out of his system once and for all. But soon it's hard to tell whether the greatest threat is from the rushing rapids, the deadly enemy on their trail, or the passion that's sending them straight into the line of fire...."--p. This book was fair. I'll start off by saying that I don't like books where the hero and heroine were lovers in the past. I like to read about people meeting for the first time and falling in love, not getting back together. I found it improbable that Sam would go running off to the side of his ex-fiance whom he hadn't seen in 10 years even if he did hear she had a car accident. I also think they fell back into each other's arms too quickly. Three days after being apart 10 years was a bit short to be believable.

There was very little use made of him being a hotshot forest firefighter. If a book is about a firefighter, there should be more firefighting in it. I also don't like when author's get around telling you who the bad guy is by calling him "the man." It wouldn't have hurt a thing to use his name.

The writing was decent. The dialog was a little corny here and there. Still I'm willing to give the next one a try. ( )

This book was better than the first in the Hotshot firefighters series, but not enough for me to give it a higher rating. ( )

Quickie Review

The romance between Sam and Dianne is sweet and sexy, and their backstory makes them even more compelling as a couple.

Unfortunately, the suspense plot is quite weak. The trek through the wilderness is contrived, especially since it is obviously a wild goose chase and the villain's insanity is too over the top.

The last two chapters are also completely superfluous but the book is worth reading for the romance. ( )

What I especially enjoyed from this novel....it was a well written and steamy romantic with some suspense with this firefighter Sam MacKenzie and television host Dianna Kelley along with her out of control sister April. This author does a very good job at bringing this story it all out to the readers. Will Dianna except this second chance at love in this fiery relationship? What will happen to Dianna's sister April? I loved how this author was able to give the reader a story with an interesting plot that does come together in the end and definitely will keep your attention till the end. You will be definitely left saying wow in the end. ( )
