I read the French version, La dernière danse de Matilda - and thoroughly enjoyed it. Captured me from the beginning and kept me glued to the story throughout.

I look forward to reading others - I have Dreamscapes from the Library, again the French version called Le chant des secrets. If Tamara's other books are as well written, I am sure to enjoy my next readings. ( )

Description: For Jenny, Churinga, a remote sheep-station in the Australian Outback, is a parting gift from her husband following his tragic death. Not knowing where to turn for comfort, it seems natural to travel to Churinga. She finds a harsh, unforgiving place, but not without its own quiet beauty. Jenny's new neighbors seem reluctant to talk about the previous owner, Matilda Thomas, but Jenny becomes aware of her predecessor's lingering presence. Then she discovers Matilda's diaries and uncovers a tale more shocking than anything she could possibly have imagined. Is her inheritance going to prove a blessing or a curse?

My thoughts: I truly loved this book! The way Tamara McKinley writes almost makes me feel and taste the Australian red gravel, she is a master in describing the Australian landscape. This is a lovely and heartbreaking story. I highly recommend it. ( )
