Cashew brittle got a lot of compliments (even though I was afraid it would take out everyone's fillings!). Really want to try their recipe for brioche in a soup can, but don't have much time for baking lately! ( )

Need to buy this for myself because I've been cooking my way through the library copy and the library would like it back.
Chocolate-hazelnut panna cotta, carrot cake whoopie pies, lemon steamed pudding - it's all been good but oh-so-buttery. ( )

The cookbook written with the kindest tone, the most gentle and moiost helful of hints, and with acknowledgement that we might wish do to a bit of tweaking with recipes depending on our personal taste or what is most available to us. PLus the kick ass recipe for brownies. I love how she factors into the recipes to rotate your baking pan half way through. It accounts for the fact that most of us have ovens that are uneven and have hot and cold spots.

DeMasco layers the homey foundation of her childhood favorites with the spontaneity she honed working in seasonal-ingredient-driven kitchens and a love of modern touches.
