Every Buddy Counts is a sweet counting book that helps the reader count to 10. I liked that this book had rhyming in it, that would allow for a lesson in both counting and rhyming. I think that the rhyming also adds an element of fun to it, keeping the reader's interest. While this book is very simple, there is somewhat of a story to it. However, I feel like the story could be a little stronger. That being said, the objects and things being counted are presented in a way that readers can easily count and note the increase in items shown. The illustrations are clear and helpful in allowing the reader to count the subject on that page, while also helping to show what is happening. There are also activities at the back of the book, so teachers have the option to use those. ( )

This book is about a girl who wakes up sad, but then decided to count her friends to make her feel better. She counts her hamster, her sister, her cousin's kittens, people in a store, her neighbors, and many more. At the end of the story she feels better and says that her friend can alway count on her. This book would be good for students to read because it is a feel good book.

Summary: a young girl counts her pets and her friends. She counts many "buddies," including her two sisters and three kittens. At the end there are helpful resources for both parents and teachers. These resources include activity ideas aimed at helping children understand basic math concepts.
This is a easy picture book that children, especially elementary-age students, will enjoy. It would be a great book to read when discussing simple math concepts or talking about pets and friends.
