“Mr. Putter & Tabby Catch the Cold” is by Cynthia Rylant. This book is about a grandpa named Mr. Putter who catches a cold, and how his friends help him. I think this book is great. I really like this book. My favorite character is Tabby, because Tabby is a cat and I like cats. I liked the part when Mr. Putter coughs at his cat Tabby. I think everyone needs to read this book because it is funny. I give this book five out of five stars! - Rebecca Kim, Tulip Class, February 2018

I love this series and am every so thankful that kids do, too. I really want to be neighbors to Mr. Putter and Mrs. Teaberry. ( )

I liked the book, “Mr. Putter and Tabby Catch the Cold”. I liked the writing and plot of the book. It starts off as Mr. Putter going outside without a hat on and because of that he gets a cold. “Colds aren't so much fun when you’re old.” He explains how he liked them as a kid because his mom would spoil him. Instead of calling his mom he called his neighbor Mrs. Teaberry. She ends up sending her dog over to spoil him like his mom used to. “Mrs. Teaberry, the soup and the tea were wonderful.” Mrs. Teaberry then sends over her dog with an adventure book for Mr. Putter. She tells him that she has to read it to her dog because it is his favorite book so Tabby, Mr. Putter’s cat, and Zeke, Mrs. Teaberry’s dog listen to the story Mr. Putter reads. They then all fall asleep together. I liked how the writing flowed together from chapter to chapter. The reader never knew what was going to happen next. I also liked the illustrations; they accurately desired what was happening in the book. The big idea of the story is to make sure you dress appropriately for the weather or you might end up getting sick. ( )
