The twelfth part in Katarina "Katitzi" Taikon's semi-autobiographical series about a young Romani girl's youth in 1940's Sweden. In this installment of the series, Katitzi is almost completely separated from the other Romani, except her siblings, and is making her own way and growing up in Stockholm. It is evident that Sweden is slowly becoming a more embracing country since the end of the war and Katitzi's life is noticeably easier than it has been before. She is missing her father and mourns him when he dies, but she has finally regained the independence and some of the self-esteem she had as a child, before her stepmother abused her. The book may be written for children to battle prejudice and promote cultural understanding, but everyone regardless of age should read it for historical and social purposes.
