“OK, so you are crazy.”This one’s very tropey, but again tropes aren’t bad. It’s how you use them. Amelia was boring. I've just seen the (rich?) girl who wants to prove herself to her powerful father and runs away too many times. But I didn't see anything unique to Amelia to make me root for her.
“Nothing wrong with that. Helps the genius come out.”
I liked the twin brothers, Fyn and Rastor, (they’re like the Wright brothers) though they're flat besides their love of show more rambunctiousness, science, and engineering. I know they lived in the Jungle, but why were they always barefoot??? We get a little preteen romance, but I don’t know what endeared Amelia to one of the brothers. Probably off-screen happenings though crushes/puppy love need no rhyme or reason.
The artwork was lovely (The watercolors were used masterfully) though, sometimes, the direction of scenes and word bubbles got downright confusing.
I think this one will strike a nice chord for kids who like aviation. show less
I really enjoyed this book, and it was a pleasant surprise. I found the main characters warm and interesting and I'd like to meet them again. the graphical style was fun and colorful - I enjoyed how when the characters were talking about something there were small verstions of them doing what was being discussed. Also the use of color coding to help keep track of dialog is much appreciated. A nice adventure. Maybe I can hope for a sequel?
