Series: Extreme Measures (3)

FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley tracks serial killers, using her skills as a psychiatrist and behavioral analyst to get dangerous people off the street and safely behind bars. But prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe knows that just because a killer is incarcerated doesn't mean they're not a threat. His own father, Peter, is a serial killer in prison but certainly not out of Sam's life, as much as he wishes he was.

When bodies start showing up with Peter's MO, Sam and Grace are both called in to consult. They've met before—and though Grace thought they'd made a real connection, Sam ghosted her. They'll have to get past the awkwardness and mistrust to solve this case—especially because it's about to get personal.

USA Today bestselling author Lynette Eason doesn't give you time to catch your breath in this breakneck race to stop a serial killer.

An incisive, deeply resonant debut novel about a nonconsensual sexual encounter that propels one woman's final semester at an elite New England college into controversy and chaos—and into an ill-advised affair with a married professor.

It's 1998 and Isabel Rosen, the only daughter of a Lower East Side appetizing store owner, has one semester left at Wilder College, a prestigious school in New Hampshire. Desperate to shed her working-class roots and still mourning the death of her mother four years earlier, Isabel has always felt like an outsider at Wilder but now, in her final semester, she believes she has found her place—until a nonconsensual sexual encounter with one of the only other Jewish students on campus leaves her reeling.

Enter R. H. Connelly, a once-famous poet and Isabel's writing professor, a man with secrets of his own. Connelly makes Isabel feel seen, beautiful, talented: the woman she longs to become. His belief in her ignites a belief in herself, and the two begin an affair that shakes the foundation of who Isabel thinks she is, for better and worse. As the lives of the adults around her slowly come apart, Isabel discovers that the line between youth and adulthood is less defined than she thought.

A coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal, Daisy Alpert Florin's My Last Innocent Year is a timely and wise portrait of a young woman learning to trust her voice and move toward independence while recognizing the beauty and grit of where she came from.

An epic love story in the vein of Cold Mountain and The Great Circle, about a young reindeer herder and a minister's daughter in the nineteenth century Arctic Circle

In 1851, at a remote village in the Scandinavian tundra, a Lutheran minister known as Mad Lasse tries in vain to convert the native Sámi reindeer herders to his faith. But when one of the most respected herders has a dramatic awakening and dedicates his life to the church, his impetuous son, Ivvár, is left to guard their diminishing herd alone. By chance, he meets Mad Lasse's daughter Willa, and their blossoming infatuation grows into something that ultimately crosses borders—of cultures, of beliefs, and of political divides--as Willa follows the herders on their arduous annual migration north to the sea.

Gorgeously written and sweeping in scope, Hanna Pylväinen's The End of Drum-Time immerses readers in a world lit by the northern lights, steeped in age-old rituals, and guided by passions that transcend place and time.

A moving, heartbreaking, and lyrical true story of the author's escape from an apocalyptic cult—and the survival skills that led to her freedom.

My family prepared me for the end of the world, but I know how to survive on what the earth yields.

As a child, Michelle Dowd grew up on a mountain in the Angeles National Forest. She was born into an ultra-religious cult—or the Field as they called it—started in the 1930s by her grandfather, a mercurial, domineering, and charismatic man who convinced generations of young male followers that he would live 500 years and ascend to the heavens when doomsday came. Comfort and care are sins, Michelle is told. As a result, she was forced to learn the skills necessary to battle hunger, thirst, and cold; she learned to trust animals more than humans; and most importantly, she learned how to survive in the natural world.

At the Field, a young Michelle lives a life of abuse, poverty, and isolation, as she obeys her family's rigorous religious and patriarchal rules—which are so extreme that Michelle is convinced her mother would sacrifice her, like Abraham and Isaac, if instructed by God. She often wears the same clothes for months at a time; she is often ill and always hungry for both love and food. She is taught not to trust Outsiders, and especially not Quitters, nor her own body and its warnings.

But as Michelle gets older, she realizes she has the strength to break free. Focus on what will sustain, not satiate you, she tells herself. Use everything. Waste nothing. Get to know the intricacies of the land, like the intricacies of your body. And so she does.

Using stories of individual edible plants and their uses to anchor each chapter, Forager is both a searing coming-of-age story and a meditation on the ways in which understanding nature can lead to freedom, even joy.

Michael Sullivan is a talented lyricist and a decent guitarist, but since he was kicked out of his band (and his apartment), he's not sure he'll ever get a record deal. Living with his loser uncle in a beat-up trailer and working a dead-end job, Michael has little reason to hope for a better future. Until the invitation for a swanky New Year's Eve party shows up in the mailbox. It's for his uncle, with whom he shares his name, but his uncle is going out of town...

On the effervescent night of December 31, 1989—as the Berlin Wall is coming down, the Soviet Union is inching toward democracy, and anything seems possible—Michael will cross paths with the accomplished and enigmatic young heir to a fading musical dynasty, forever altering both of their futures.

Award-winning novelist Erin Bartels enchants with this story of two lonely souls who have exactly what the other one needs—if they could simply turn their focus from what is ending to what is just beginning.

For young detective Aggie Morton and her friend Hector, an opportunity to dig up fossils becomes even more thrilling when a corpse washes ashore in this fourth book in the Aggie Morton, Mystery Queen series, inspired by the life of Agatha Christie as a child and her most popular creation, Hercule Poirot. For fans of Enola Holmes.

After an invigorating but not exactly restful trip to a Yorkshire spa during which she survived a near brush with death and foiled a murderer, aspiring writer Aggie Morton and her friend Hector are thrilled to have the opportunity to stay at a camp by the sea and watch real paleontologists at work. The famed husband and wife team of the Blenningham-Crewes are about to become even more famous with the recovery of the fossilized bones of an ichthyosaur from the sea by Lyme Regis.

This news has already caught the attention of an American millionaire, a British museum and a travelling circus owner, who each want the bones for their own collections. Tensions are running high throughout the camp, from the cook, to the collectors, to the Blenningham-Crewes themselves, and become downright dangerous after Aggie and Hector make a discovery of their own- a body on the beach. Not a fossil, but a human body.

A taut thriller set in Florida's desolate panhandle, part coming-of-age story, all hard-boiled noir.

"The novels of Sterling Watson are to be treasured and passed on to the next generation." —Dennis Lehane, author of Mystic River

"Sterling Watson's Night Letter is a revelation and one of the most engaging books I've read in a long time. Part voice-driven coming-of-age, part atmospheric noir, the writing itself is incisive and poetic, and the characters themselves are those rare literary creations--complicated and human and real. Imagine a thriller conceived by David Goodis and written by Carson McCullers. This book helps to redefine the boundaries of contemporary American fiction."
—Joe Meno, author of Book of Extraordinary Tragedies

"In Night Letter, Sterling Watson delivers an evocative tale of a young man struggling to come of age in the wake of a troubled childhood. Using pitch-perfect language, Watson transports readers to a Florida of the past and immerses them in a nuanced era. From its first page, the novel simmers with a certainty that if Watson's well-drawn protagonist is to find redemption, it will not come without a fight."
—Lori Roy, author of Gone Too Long

Eighteen-year-old Travis Hollister is always the stranger who comes to town.

As a twelve-year-old escaping a disordered and unhappy home and parents who loved hard but couldn't make it work, Travis left the Midwest to spend a summer with his grandparents in the Deep South. There he met Delia, the love of his life, who, tragically, was beyond his reach for two reasons--she was his aunt and she was sixteen years old. That summer made Travis guilty of crimes discovered and undiscovered. For his public wrongs, he did time, six years in a Nebraska reform school. For his undiscovered wrongs, he suffers mightily and wants desperately to be shriven. Can he achieve redemption or is he bound for the hell on earth he can imagine all too well?

Driven by his need to rejoin the human community, he becomes the stranger who arrives in Panama City, Florida, searching for Delia, the aunt who was the idol of his twelve-year-old passion. Who is she now? What have the years done to her? Will she welcome the return of Travis or fear it? What will she do about the return of the stranger she once held to her teenage heart.

Jean Paul Sartre said, "Hell is other people." In the course of this story, Travis learns that other people can also be salvation. Amid a cast of characters struggling with their own needs, desires, tragedies, and, yes, crimes, Travis finds violence, hatred, vengeance, and, in greater measure, friendship, honor, loyalty, and at least a glimpse of the road to redemption.

"An unexpected, inventive, heartfelt riff on the workplace novel--startup realism with a multiverse twist." —Anna Wiener, author of Uncanny Valley

Introducing Josh Riedel's adrenaline-packed debut novel about a dating app employee who discovers a glitch that transports him to other worlds

Once you sign an NDA it's good for life. Meaning legally, I shouldn't tell you this story. But I have to.

A college grad with the six-figure debt to prove it, Ethan Block views San Francisco as the place to be. Yet his job at hot new dating app DateDate is a far cry from what he envisioned. Instead of making the world a better place, he reviews flagged photo queues, overworked and stressed out. But that's about to change.

Reeling from a breakup, Ethan decides to view his algorithmically matched soulmate on DateDate. He overrides the system and clicks on the profile. Then, he disappears. One minute, he's in a windowless office, and the next, he's in a field of endless grass, gasping for air. When Ethan snaps back to DateDate HQ, he's convinced a coding issue caused the blip. Except for anyone to believe him, he'll need evidence. As Ethan embarks on a wild goose chase, moving from dingy startup think tanks to Silicon Valley's dominant tech conglomerate, it becomes clear that there's more to DateDate than meets the eye. With the stakes rising, and a new world at risk, Ethan must choose who--and what--he believes in.

Adventurous and hyper-timely, Please Report Your Bug Here is an inventive millennial coming-of-age story, a dark exploration of the corruption now synonymous with Big Tech, and, above all, a testament to the power of human connection in our digital era.

"A cleareyed, compelling study of the road to Jan. 6 and the possible future of the politics-versus-religion battle in the U.S." —Kirkus Reviews, starred review

Watching the eerie footage of the January 6 insurrection, Bradley Onishi wondered: If I hadn't left evangelicalism, would I have been there?

The insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, was not a blip or an aberration. It was the logical outcome of years of a White evangelical subculture's preparation for war. Religion scholar and former insider Bradley Onishi maps the origins of White Christian nationalism and traces its offshoots in Preparing for War.

Combining his own experiences in the youth groups and prayer meetings of the 1990s with an immersive look at the steady blending of White grievance politics with evangelicalism, Onishi crafts an engrossing account of the years-long campaign of White Christian nationalism that led to January 6. How did the rise of what Onishi calls the New Religious Right, between 1960 and 2015, give birth to violent White Christian nationalism during the Trump presidency and beyond? What propelled some of the most conservative religious communities in the country--communities of which Onishi was once a part--to ignite a cold civil war?

Through chapters on White supremacy and segregationist theologies, conspiracy theories, the Christian-school movement, purity culture, and the right-wing media ecosystem, Onishi pulls back the curtain on a subculture that birthed a movement and has taken a dangerous turn. In taut and unsparing prose, Onishi traces the migration of many White Christians to Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming in what is known as the American Redoubt. Learning the troubling history of the New Religious Right and the longings and logic of White Christian nationalism is deeply alarming. It is also critical for preserving the shape of our democracy for years to come.

"The book's lyricism and open heart sing." —Booklist

The land carries voices. The land remembers what happened upon it. In traveling the land, I become familiar with more than myself. Give me the journey of the road; it is my journey home.

From the award-winning Native American literary writer Diane Glancy comes a book about travel, belonging, and home. Travel is not merely a means to bring us from one location to another. "My sense of place is in the moving," Glancy writes. For her the road is home--its own satisfying destination. But the road also makes demands on us: asking us to be willing to explore the incomprehensible parts of the landscapes we inhabit and pass through--as well as to, ultimately, let them blur as they go by. This, Glancy says, is home.

Glancy teases out the lessons of the road that are never easy to define, grappling with her own: childhood's puzzle pieces of her Cherokee heritage and a fraught but still compelling vision of Christianity. As she clocks an inordinate amount of driving, as she experiments with literary forms, she looks to what the land has held for centuries, before the roads were ever there.

This, ultimately, is a book about land, tradition, religion, questions and the puzzle pieces none of us can put together quite right. It's a book about peripheral vision, conflicting narratives, and a longing for travel.

If the Gutenberg Bible is the alpha, Against the Written Word is the omega

Against the Written Word is the most important, most revolutionary book produced since the advent of the printing press; the book that will liberate readers from reading, writers from writing, and booksellers from peddling their despicable wares. This book ushers in a new era of freedom from reading and all its attendant bedfellows such as Enlightenment thinking and the mass alienation wrought by the phonetic alphabet. Against the Written Word will be a tremendous best seller and simultaneously the last book that anyone will read.

With fifteen essays ripping, shredding, tearing apart all the bugaboos that haunt humanity nowadays, Against the Written Word is a must-read for any aspiring radical or would-be gnostic who has a penchant for words, thought, clothes, intoxicants, music, art, expression, etc. The work is presented in a range of writing: essays, screenplays, lectures, sci-fi stories, and manifestos, with topics that include "the rise of incorporated man," "tourism as the neoliberal mode of military occupation," a workshop on songwriting for the purpose of suggestion and mind control, and many more.

This handsome, illustrated book will correct the paucity of thought that characterizes the modern bookstore, and will practically sell itself. It will call out from the shelf to ingratiate itself to the unsuspecting everyday book browser, who will be hooked and then hungrily consume it. Infected with a wild-eyed evangelism, they will then proliferate it amongst their friends and acquaintances. These new readers will disseminate it, and so on; soon this slim, innocuous volume will define an epoch and steer thought from here on out.

The bookseller will be surprised and pleased to find that it will be the only book they need to stock. Against the Written Word will be dominant in a manner the market has not seen since the Bible tore up best-seller lists in the Middle Ages or Mao's Little Red Book wowed the critics in Red China.

Series: The Sentinels (1)

Fortunes of War delves heavily into how money played a key role in building up Hitler’s attempt of world domination and how the loss of that money helped bring him down. In the financial devastation of the 1930s, a greedy, power-hungry group of German industrialists plot to usher in the National Socialist Party in order to rearm Germany and reap the financial rewards. With Hitler in power, the Six Sentinels, graduates of an elite American doctoral program, uncover the industrialists' plan to hoard hundreds of millions of dollars in illegal war profits and put their lives on the line to serve justice.

Gordon Zuckerman is a masterful storyteller. He provides ample political intrigue, romance and forceful exploits. The action takes place across Europe and America.

The year is 1932. The previously dominant German nation was on the brink of financial and societal collapse. An influential collection of prosperous and well-placed businessmen decided it was time to do something. They have a simple plan. They will choose a potential leader for the nation who was sympathetic to the notion of rearmament. They will make available ample monetary support to make certain of a victorious rise to power. Their motivation for succeeding is their profits during the rearmament would be enormous. The prospective leader they decided to sponsor was Adolf Hitler. At the time he was the rising star of the National Socialist German Workers Party.

But what if Germany lost the war and the businessmen took their profits out of the country before it fell? A group of young doctoral students at University of California at Berkeley hypothesized that such funds would eventually find their way to another military conflict elsewhere in the world. By early 1945, it becomes apparent that it is about to become an actuality in Nazi Germany. That's when the group makes a decision to reunite and implement a plan to thwart war profits from leaving the country.

The Sentinels is a group of six economics doctoral students at the University of California, Berkeley, who have discovered a pattern that explains and can even predict repeating cycles of the rise and fall of world powers. In particular, the Sentinels assert that German industrialists are pushing Europe into war.

17-year-old Zorya lives on blood, is allergic to daylight, and can lift the front end of a car (well, a small car). And nobody in polite modern American society uses the “V” word anymore—the PC term is “Nightwalker.”

She’s a popular senior at her Nightwalker high school in the California Enclave, with good grades, the newest smartphone, and the latest clothes.

Then her easy life changes drastically. Zorya’s flirtation with David, the only human “Daywalker” in her school, gets her exiled from her comfortable home and sent packing to her grandfather in a distant Idaho forest Refuge—without even her smartphone!

There the reluctant Zorya discovers her heritage, learns skills she never needed in high school, and eventually finds out the real reason for her exile: to be trained as a member of a secret organization of Nightwalkers and Daywalkers, with one foot in each world, dedicated to preserving the fragile peace between the races.

Do you feel as though you have exhausted every option available to you when it comes to trying to lose weight? Or perhaps, you have tried all of the exercise routines that celebrities promote on social media, but every time, you find yourself back at square one.

73% of people who set fitness goals for themselves throw in the towel before they have achieved those goals. 42% of those who quit say it was too difficult to stick to the fitness routine. Why? The problem is that we think exercise has to be exhausting, entail hours spent at the gym, and require you to haul yourself out of bed at sunrise to run before work.

Well, it doesn’t have to be this way, and there is a simple solution to this conundrum: we merely have to make walking a habit.

Regular walking allows your body to burn more calories and boost weight loss. Incorporating just 3 hours of walking into your weekly routine could help you lose up to 25% more body weight in 12 weeks than dieting alone.

In Walking Your Way to Weight Loss, you’ll learn everything you need to know to harness the power of walking for effective and sustainable weight loss. You’ll discover:

  • A 49-day plan for beginners that is easily customizable and can be modified as you progress

  • Tips, tricks and techniques for getting the most out of every walk

And much more!

Plus, as a bonus, you’ll get Intermittent Fasting for Women, to help you create a sustainable, long-term lifestyle for weight loss and better health.

Intermittent fasting is not, strictly speaking, a diet. It is a long-term lifestyle choice and not just a short-term fix for weight loss.

There are no tricks and no quick wins that will eventually disappear.

Combining walking and intermittent fasting is the most effective way to lose weight and keep it off.

Inside Intermittent Fasting for Women, you will discover:

  • What intermittent fasting is, why and how it works
  • How intermittent fasting works for women in particular, and how to fast as a woman
  • Advice on how to get started and some tips and tricks to make it easier
  • Popular types of intermittent fasting
  • How intermittent fasting affects key hormones

Traveling the nation, Matt Donovan examines the paradox of a country plagued by gun violence yet consumed with protecting the right to bear arms.

Matt Donovan's The Dug-Up Gun Museum confronts our country's obsession with guns to explore America's deep-seated political divisions and issues linked to violence, race, power, and privilege. Taking its title from an actual museum located in Wyoming, this collection of poems interrogates our country's history of gun violence, asking questions about our fetishization of weapons, how mass shootings and the killing of unarmed civilians by police have become normalized, and the multitudinous ways in which firearms are ingrained in our country's culture.

Much like the poet himself, Donovan's poems are dynamic and constantly in motion as he explores the ways in which capitalism and its relentless stream of content have led to a collective desensitization in the face of violence. In turns harrowing, elegiac, and ironic, set in locations ranging from Cody to Chicago, from Las Vegas to Sandy Hook, The Dug-Up Gun Museum probes America's failures, bizarre infatuations, and innumerable tragedies linked to guns.

The beard was never far from my mind. Twice daily, I shaved. I blended foundation into my skin with a practiced touch. I hoped for the miracle that never showed its face: smooth skin instead of the prickly surface I felt every time I ran my hand across my chin and down my cheeks. It took years of struggle, of ducking and diving, to finally obtain a diagnosis and treatment. It took love to pull myself from the shadows and into the sun.

Bearded Lady is a tale of hiding and revealing, of secrets and salvation, of how what we believe sets us apart actually unites us. It's the story of what happens when you can no longer push down your deepest humiliation and instead must truly face the world.

Dear Diary,

For two years, I’ve been checking out a town on Earth. I know this one town is only scratching the surface of the planet. There is one curious ritual that I learned, and it’s called “dating.” Demons don’t “date.” It’s pointless to them, seeing as how they don’t believe in love or companionship. I don’t know why humans date either. I’ve seen them, and I can tell they have ulterior motives. There’s something weird about this human. He’s not a wizard, and yet he’s able to block my abilities somehow. He’s worthy of further…study. It’s just curiosity; that’s all it is, I’m sure.

Sunshine, chocolate, puppies. These aren’t the typical words found in most demon vocabularies. But then again, Morgalla isn’t your typical demon. She has a good heart and a terrible secret: she doesn’t like being a demon. Worse, her father is one of the lead demons in Hell and he expects her to follow in his footsteps and wreak havoc on Earth.

During one of her many visits to Earth disguised as a human, she meets Jasper. He’s kind and sweet and unlike anyone she’s ever met before. Does she dare show her true self? Is it possible that a demon could find love?

Despite the many challenges standing in her way, when trouble begins to brew between Earth and Hell, Morgalla must decide: Which side is she on?

When their father's death leaves them impoverished, Sarah Summers convinces her sisters to open their seaside home to guests to provide for their ailing mother. Emily and Georgiana agree, but Viola, who wears a veil to cover a scar, detests the idea. Determined to stay together, the sisters begin the new venture.

Instead of the elderly invalids they expect, however, they find themselves hosting eligible gentlemen. Sarah is torn between a growing attraction to a mysterious Scottish widower and duty to her family. Meanwhile, the new situation exposes Viola's scars—both the visible and those hidden deep within—and her cloistered heart will never be the same.

Series: Women Unveiled (2)

“I should have assumed with parents known to the world as Mary Magdalene and Jesus Christ, I would be different.”

Sara is a swaddled babe in a hammock in Jerusalem 34 AD. The child of Jesus and Mary Magdalene, she is extraordinary in that she time travels forward into people's bodies. She seeks to control her ability in hope of rescuing a young Cathar girl from the 13th century massacre at Montségur. Through this (almost true) tale of death and destiny and soul's purpose, we join Sara as she journeys from Jerusalem to Egypt to Crete and finally France. Merging history, folklore of the Languedoc, Greek mythology and imagination, this (almost true) tale of death, destiny and soul's purpose offers a compelling expose of spirituality and its mysteries.

As our histories become unstuck, the patterns of power through religion are shifting, making way for new narratives. This book is part of this process.

Luna had been to many of the Capoeira workshops at the school she’d been a part of for years. They were the highlight of the season and she always looked forward to them. This year, however, she meets one particular invitee, who she simply cannot resist, nor does she want to.

The parents knew it had been a mistake to have a girl. At birth, the girl’s long, elegant fingers wriggled and grasped forward, motioning to strangle the very air from her mother’s lungs. As she grew older, she grew more like her father, whose ancestors would dream of those soon to die. She walked and talked in her sleep, and her parents warded themselves, telling the girl that she was evil, unlovable, their burden to bear only until her eighteenth birthday released them.

The average person on the streets of Los Angeles would look at the girl and see a young woman with dark chocolate eyes, curly long hair, and tanned skin of her Filipina heritage. Her teachers praised her for her scholarly achievements and extracurricular activities, from academic decathlon to cheer.

The girl knew she was different, especially as she grew to accept that the other children’s parents didn’t despise them. Her parents whispered about their pact as odd and disturbing occurrences continued to happen around her. The girl thought being an evil demon should require the skies to bleed, the ground to tremble, an animal sacrifice to seal the bargain, or at least cause some general mayhem. Did other demons work so hard to find friends, do well on their homework, and protect their spoiled younger brother?

The demon was patient. It could afford to wait, to remind the girl when she was hurt that power was hers to take. She needed only embrace it. It could wait. The girl’s parents were doing much of its work already.

Seventh Book in the EmpathGrowth Series by R. Glenn Kelly

“Not since I read the book ‘As a Man Thinketh,’ by James Allen, circa 1890, has there been a comparable book for today's world, in today's language, with the same provocative insights and allegories of resilience that are embedded within its pages.”
~ Mitch Carmody, Grief Healing Coach, Artist, Found – Heartlight Studios

“If not most, at least one of the self-sacred revelations in this work will change your life in joy-filled ways. R. Glenn’s Digest of the Broken Road Traveler will not become a top shelf book in your library. Instead, you’ll always keep it close and turn back to its teachings throughout the rest of your life.”
~ Alexander Sareyani, Life Coach, Music Producer, and Artist

DIGEST OF THE BROKEN ROAD TRAVELER

Regardless your trials, hardships, or heartaches, Digest of the Broken Road Traveler presents fifty-two life-changing morals that will excite the spirit, awaken the soul, and deeply enrich your life, beginning with the very first chapter, or Exit, from your own broken road. Each teaching is presented to you in either narrative essay or allegory format, with clear soul-healing revelations.

A noted expert and authority on moving forward from life’s toughest challenges, including the loss of his teenage son and only child, award-winning author R. Glenn Kelly reveals the often-forgotten truths that kept him connected to God, as well as grounded in mind, body, and soul during emotionally difficult times.

Each teaching in this book is conceptually presented through four separate Waypoints in your life,

~ Waypoint One – Reawakening Your True Self
~ Waypoint Two – Being Self Conscious or Conscious of Self
~ Waypoint Three – Revelations of Hardship
~ Waypoint Four – Reaffirming Faith and Spirit

Each Waypoint contains thirteen Exits, or chapters, that you can take during your broken road travels. This provides a total of fifty-two morals, principles, and philosophies that present lessons and teachings for a life filled with abundance, faith, and unconditional love. You might begin by slowly reading one exit, or chapter, each week for a year. You can then spend the days between each by deeply considering what you’ve learned in your reading. Yet, that’s up to you. This work also reminds you of your gift of free-will.

While you tend to cruise at breakneck speeds along life’s journey, the ugly, unexpected collisions, roadblocks, and delays take their toll on your heart. It’s by purposely taking these exits to some inspirational byways and “comfort stops” that you can recharge your soul. And, in doing so, you’ll rediscover the inner strength needed to once again return to your travels with a renewed sense of peace and purpose.

Even if you're just having trouble existing day to day and feel as if you’ve lost faith, you might focus your efforts on trying to change the world. But that’s a tall order, isn’t it? After all, not even God promised you an easy life. No, the secret to an amazing life is not in trying to change the world, but in keeping the world from changing you. You’ll find that here.

In Digest of the Broken Road Traveler, you’ll discover where you fell to when the bottom dropped out. You’ll learn what’s left behind once you’ve been through the fire. You’ll better understand your divine purpose in life and realize that the journey truly is the destination of your travels. This book will re-introduce you to your true self, and how you think about life in good times and in bad. It will give you the faith to not only move forward, but to turn around on your path and help others when their road gets rough.

Come inside Digest of the Broken Road Traveler today and re-discover your true you and the miracles of your rich and joyous that awaits.

COVID-19 disrupted the premier road races known as the World Marathon Majors (WMM) that take place annually in Berlin, London, Chicago, Boston, Tokyo, and New York City. Normally spanning the calendar from March to November, the pandemic forced a rescheduling of the 2021 WMM such that all the races would take place during a six week stretch in the fall. At age 60, with only a single previous marathon under his belt and recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Joe Drake decided to run all six of these races on the compressed schedule.

In Run With It, writing in a style that is charmingly humorous and informative, Joe marks his debut as an author. He tells of his transformation into a marathoner, the physical and logistical challenges of running these races amid a world eager to emerge from a global catastrophe, and how this quest with the help of friends, family, and the running community allowed him to devise a strategy for coping with Parkinson’s.

A Newbury & Hobbes Investigation

Epic steampunk excitement squeezed into a novella: When Sir Maurice Newbury, gentleman investigator for the Crown, and his close friend and assistant Miss Veronica Hobbes accompany Sir Charles Bainbridge, Chief Inspector of Scotland Yard, to a society party at the home of the enigmatic Greyson Fairfax, none of them have any idea of the danger they are walking into.

Disquiet grows as the host, Fairfax, fails to appear for his own party, and when one of the guests is found murdered in the grounds, that disquiet turns to panic. Thick fog hems them in, and some sort of mechanical monster prowls the night. The house is sealed, with the so-efficient servants insistent that no one should leave. Can Newbury and Hobbes get to the bottom of what’s going on before it’s too late for all of them?

This story is about an indigenous girl from Peru in the late 19th century. Her family, a group of Coca farmers, have fallen victim to the up-and-coming production of Coca in the United States, which the Coca-Cola Company uses to manufacture cocaine into their drinks. On a strike of luck, an ambassador from the Coca-Cola company gives her the opportunity to travel to the states. While she is told that the company wants her there to be a part of growing agricultural technology, she is really there to make good PR with the public, to deceive everyone into thinking that the Coca-Cola corporation is not taking advantage of the Coca farmers.

In a story that questions the importance of tradition and family, she must overcome the powers of big corporations and tell the people the truth of how they are treating South American farmers.

The Worcester tornado of June 1953 is just the beginning of the turbulent eighth year of Edith's life.

Edith has always had a rich imagination, filled with fairies, adventures and storybook characters. She escapes to it when she is buffeted by strains in her parents' marriage or when she is scared by the news—about nuclear bombs, about the execution of Communist spies who have children her age. As she gets older, it is no longer easy to flee to her imagination and overlook what she sees. She is more and more aware of the Cold War era threats of nuclear war and McCarthyism to her security and her beloved family. As best she can, she squares her small shoulders to understand and face an uncertain future.

In The Age of Reason by Marian Birch we experience a period of American life that is not-so-distant and not-so-different from our own time—the Cold War of the 1950s. Edith is bravely emerging from the protective swaddling of childish make-believe, where her vivid imagination can transport her out of a complicated, difficult, and sometimes frightening reality.

On the island of Minorca some things never change: the sun shines, the breeze ruffles the Mediterranean, and the Grand Dukes are eternally in debt.

Grand Duke Ramon XX doesn’t let his permanent state of near-bankruptcy interfere with the simple pleasures of life: a good lunch, a cigar and a glass of cognac. But trouble is on the horizon when the island is visited by a German businessman who will stop at nothing to get his hands on potential sulfur mines. At the same time, a moneylender in Paris threatens to expose a devastating secret, leaving Ramon on the verge of losing not only his beloved island, but his honor and reputation as well. It's not until he crosses paths with Mr Collin, gentleman thief and swindler, that a gleam of hope appears. But who is the mysterious and beautiful woman pretending to be Mr Collin’s wife, and does she hold the key to resolving the problem of the Grand Duke’s finances once and for all?

Frank Heller was the pseudonym of Gunnar Serner, who was the first internationally famous Swedish crime writer. The son of a clergyman, to avoid arrest after a financial fraud he left Sweden for the continent. After losing the swindled money in a casino in Monte Carlo, he tried his hand at writing novels with immediate success, and produced forty-three novels, short stories and travelogues before his death in 1947.

Murder on the MenuQuick Look
Digital audiobook

It's a new zany Silver Sisters Mystery narrated wonderfully by Kathleen Bond!

This is the fifth book in the Silver Sisters Mysteries, a comical crime caper series, so now all of the Silver Sisters Mysteries are available as audio books, paperback, Kindle and ePub.

Identical twins Goldie Silver, an over-the-hill flower child from Juneau, Alaska and her identical twin Godiva Olivia DuBois, a wealthy widow who writes a syndicated advice to lovelorn column from her Beverly Hills estate, don't go looking for trouble—it finds them. Their 80-year-old mother and uncle are former vaudeville magicians who love to dress in disguise and go undercover but always seem to end up in hot water.

In Murder on the Menu, Goldie's daughter Chili Pepper receives a phone call from her high school boyfriend, Roscoe Bean with a fantastic offer to move to Portland, Oregon and become Executive Chef at a new restaurant. Is it worth it for her to leave her career on the Flirting with Food TV show? You bet it is. The new restaurant is owned by Jordan Jambon, who has just been named as one of the top 20 chefs in the country. What she doesn't anticipate is a rash of murders, all in the Pettygrove mansion where she and Roscoe, Jambon, her Alaskan friend Ozzie and a seemingly innocent girl from Minnesota named Willow are roommates.

The plot deepens in every chapter, and, like every Silver Sister Mystery, the ending is a twist.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Review of the print edition: Little D

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic

Another great read with the Silver Sisters and family. This story brings us to Portland for the opening of a new restaurant that Chili will be the executive chef. She is sharing a home with several roommates and people are not who they seem to be. After a couple murders take place the ladies are on the case. Sit back and enjoy the wacky and keep you on the edge of your seats mystery. So I have read every Silver Sisters mysteries, can you please write some more?

Review of the Kindle edition: Martha A. Cheves VINE VOICE

5.0 out of 5 stars murder, suspense & humor!!!

I've read all of the Silver Sister Mysteries and have loved every one. I know murder isn't supposed to be 'light hearted' but with the characters in this series, you can't help but feel a touch of humor in the writings of Morgan and Phyllice. Their character names are priceless. You've just met Chili Pepper but you'll also meet her mother and aunt - Goldie and Godiva, as well as her grandmother Flossie Silver and her uncle Sterling Silver. And then there's Chili's TV boss Caesar Romano. So, like I said, this is a light hearted mystery that will keep you lightly on the edge of your seat while you try to help the sisters solve the murders. I myself found the ending to be a surprise.

A lively competition draws her into her rival's blueprints--and maybe even his heart.

Olive Kentworth has spent her life hiding her interest in architecture, even though she pores over architectural books and sketches buildings. When she accepts a job on a home expansion, it's only because her cousin Amos agrees to pose as the builder. To further hide her involvement, Olive takes a position as a nanny—not knowing that she'll be working for her idol, Joplin's leading architect, widower Maxfield Scott.

Maxfield is intrigued by his new nanny—she makes his home and his life bearable again. His work, on the other hand, is a disaster. An untrained builder is remodeling a completed project of his. What's worse, Maxfield's current client wants changes to his plans because of that builder's work. As the architectural one-upmanship heats up, Olive's involvement becomes harder to hide. Will the relationship between her and Maxfield survive, or will they both miss out on building something for their future?

Nobody knows what to do about queer Mormons. The institutional Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints prefers to pretend they don't exist, that they can choose their way out of who they are, leave, or at least stay quiet in a community that has no place for them. Even queer Mormons don't know what to do about queer Mormons. Their lived experience is shrouded by a doctrine in which heteronormative marriage is non-negotiable and gender is unchangeable. For women, trans Mormons, and Mormons of other marginalized genders, this invisibility is compounded by social norms which elevate (implicitly white) cisgender male voices above those of everyone else.

This collection of essays gives voice to queer Mormons. The authors who share their stories—many speaking for the first time from the closet—do so here in simple narrative prose. They talk about their identities, their experiences, their relationships, their heartbreaks, their beliefs, and the challenges they face. Some stay in the church, some do not, some are in constant battles with themselves and the people around them as they make agonizing decisions about love and faith and community. Their stories bravely convey what it means to be queer, Mormon, and marginalized--what it means to have no voice and yet to speak anyway.

Designated in 2016 by President Obama and reduced to 85 percent of its original size one year later by President Trump, Bears Ears National Monument continues to be a flash point of conflict between ranchers, miners, environmental groups, states' rights advocates, and Native American activists. In this volume, Andrew Gulliford synthesizes 11,000 years of the region's history to illuminate what's truly at stake in this conflict. The book distills this geography as a place of refuge and resistance for Native Americans who seek to preserve their ancestral homes, and for the descendants of Mormon families who arrived by wagon train in 1880.

Gulliford's engaging narrative considers prehistoric Pueblo villages and cliff dwellings, Navajo and Ute history, impacts of the Atomic Age, uranium mining, and the pothunting and looting of Native graves that led to the passage of the Antiquities Act over a century ago. The book describes how the national monument came about and its deep significance to five Native tribes.

Bears Ears National Monument is a bellwether for public land issues in the American West. Its recognition will be a relevant topic for years to come.

In a world with dwindling birth rates, all young women must submit to compulsory fertility checks at the age of thirteen. For those able to conceive, a docile existence inside the Birthing Schools beckons—far worse if they fall into the wrong hands.

When the clandestine Baby Farmers, and their brutal leader Miko, arrive to snatch his daughter, Michael must make a split-second choice: risk his own freedom to protect hers… or lose her forever. Mandate Thirteen is a gritty dystopian thriller for fans of Children of Men, A Handmaid’s Tale, and The Running Man.

“An action-packed, cross-country adventure between father and daughter as they dodge authorities, reconnect with old acquaintances, and meet new people (good, bad, and crazy), forging connections at every stop. I loved every aspect of their journey and how they learned so much about themselves on the way. This is dystopian in every way that matters. A worthy addition to any library.” Preye, Literary Darlings

Series: The Sinclair Society (1-3)

Follow the continuing adventures of Juliet Sinclair as she searches for the truth in Regency England

Juliet, A Sinclair Society Short Story: The story begins...

Just returned from a few weeks in London, seventeen-year-old Juliet Sinclair is eager to convince her mother that they should have a house party. These plans are forgotten when terrible news arrives concerning her brother. Juliet is not prepared for how her life is about to change.

Regency Rumors: Juliet Sinclair knows her family are not traitors to the crown-the difficulty is in proving it.

Driven by a desire to save the Sinclair name from disgrace, Juliet seeks assistance from her father's old friends, the Burnhams. Unfortunately, her arrival does not go as expected, and Juliet finds herself mistakenly assuming the role of lady's maid to Mrs. Burnham and her daughter Eugenia. This unintentional appointment provides her with an opportunity to gain Mrs. Burnham's confidence and to investigate the treasonous rumors against her family as she assists Eugenia with preparations for her first London Season. But a grave threat hangs over the denizens of Burnham House, and Juliet has uncovered evidence that might prevent the family from suffering her own disastrous fate... if she can reveal the truth in time.

The Debutante: Juliet Sinclair knows her brother was murdered-now if only she could understand why.

Proving her family innocent of treason is taking a toll on lady-turned-maid Juliet. Her latest investigation has brought her into the service of the spoiled Miss Dunbar and her salacious older brother, who pursues Juliet despite repeated rebuffs. Complicating matters further is the reappearance of Juliet's former beau who has not yet learned to do without her, and a growing attraction between herself and her brother's witty--and handsome--best friend.

Even with these distractions, Juliet begins to piece together the events surrounding her brother's final days--and his connection to a mysterious figure named only as "H." But Juliet's ruse is under threat of revelation, and her blackmailer is one who will not hesitate to burn her unless she gives him what he wants: every document related to her brother's former role as a spy for His Majesty against the French.

Clarendon Estate: Juliet Sinclair must unmask a murderer before her own false identity is revealed...

Clarendon Estate, the country home of Sir Horace and Lady Celia Leith, has been a refuge for Juliet Sinclair after the traumatic events of Bath.

It may also be the home of a murderer.

All signs point to a significant connection between Sir Horace and Juliet’s brother, and the more she investigates, the stronger her belief that the man may be the mysterious H she is searching for. But revealing a murderer has consequences Juliet hadn’t expected. In continuing her ruse of servitude, Juliet finds herself forming a close bond with Lady Leith as they thwart the designs of Sir Horace’s domineering mother, a woman who will do all she can to keep control of the household. Can Juliet condemn her new friend to a life with such a woman as her only family?

Time is running short. A house party is set to descend on Clarendon, bringing with it the threat of more than one person who may reveal Juliet's true identity and destroy her careful plans to keep her name above scandal. But the truth is closer than she realizes...

MM Modern Fantasy, Found Family, Immortal x Man, Grumpy x Sunshine, Guy Witches, Soulmates and Second Chances

Arlo Rook has decided it’s time to move out of Garren Castle, home for orphans of all races, magical or not, at 100 years old.

It’s not the first time he’s left home, but after a setback that landed the Hedge Witch in the hospital a year ago, he ended up right back at square one. But now he’s ready to strike out on his own, despite his friend’s worries that he’s not ready for the ‘real world.’

Then, he crashes into a mess of copper curls and bright eyes, sending apothecary goods and his life into a chaotic mess. Thatch is a mysterious and incredibly wealthy benefactor of Levena, only spoken of but never seen. He requests a night of Arlo’s company and a tour of the city, which Arlo immediately declines.

But that’s not the last time they see each other, and it certainly wasn’t the first. Arlo doesn’t remember him, no one remembers Thatch after he visits, but Thatch never forgot the Witch with a familiar mark on his face.

-----------------------------------------

Thatch Phantom is an immortal, the last of his kind and perpetually bored. When he’s not closing inter-dimensional rifts and corralling demons, he’s visiting his favorite city of all, Levena. Centuries ago, when life was particularly dull, he set up a scavenger hunt for a starving village, providing them with a year’s worth of supplies.

He anonymously returned year after year, upping the ante and providing less practical things, as the village had become a city and was wealthy beyond belief. Festivals were thrown in his honor, and have continued every year since. Hundreds of years later, The Game is still put on by the fabled ‘Scarlet Illusionist’, but no one has figured out who blesses them with the puzzles.

Once again, Thatch is listless and has decided to throw a wild card into this year’s Game. Whoever discovers him will win one wish of their choice, no restrictions. Aside from the obvious, such as no falling in love, murder or resurrection.

What he didn’t anticipate was crashing into the one person whose soul mark flares like a beacon when Thatch is around, teasing the immortal with the one thing he wants most.

Someone to call home.

What follows is a wild chain of events filled with magical coffee shops, villains with vendettas against cheese makers, moving tattoos, grand puzzles, and second chances at love, and life.

Epic steampunk excitement squeezed into a novella. Despite her father being a prominent captain of industry in her hometown of Providence, Sophronia Tempest struggles to be taken seriously in her chosen career as a journalist. It is when she and her boyfriend, the eminently suitable Arthur Botwink, attend a meeting of a supposed sect, the Starry Sodality, and hear an address by Isadora Blank, self-declared ‘Hierophant and Opener of the Way’, that things start to spiral out of control.

Before she knows it, Sophronia, Arthur, and the irascible Reuben Standeven – a fellow journalist, who keeps getting the assignments she deserves – are caught up in far-reaching events beyond their imagining. Following their instincts, they find themselves in another world and are party to a fiendish scheme that seems set to come to a head on the day of the big parade to celebrate 250 years since the founding of Providence. Unless, that is, they can stop it.

But how is Sophronia’s mentor, the celebrated academic Professor Aurion Charnley, involved?

And where do all the cats keep disappearing to?

One week ago, Jane had come to a cabin in the woods with her uncle for winter vacation. Today, though, her uncle was out and hadn’t come back for hours. It was just Jane, left alone by herself in the little cabin. It had snowed heavily most of the time she was there so she couldn’t go out, but after a while, the snow had thawed and the weather was warm and bright - warm enough for her to go outside again if she wanted to. She stared out at the grey sky from the cabin’s cramped window. The past week had just been boring, with her reading for school and not getting any texts from her friends.

Leticia Ochoa Adams met Jesus in a dive bar when she was eighteen years old.

She didn't actually meet Jesus, but it was there where she first witnessed holiness in action. The bar's regulars taught her about the importance of community, being honest about who she is, not giving up on people, and how to laugh—even when awful things happen.

In Our Lady of Hot Messes, Ochoa Adams tells the ongoing story of her redemption. At times funny and heartbreaking, but always gritty and unflinchingly honest, her story shows that no matter what you're dealing with, God wants you to trust in his love.

The Tejana daughter of a single mother—a cycle she would repeat in her own life—Ochoa Adams was sexually abused as a child. She married after a two-week courtship and, eight years later, divorced her husband who struggled with drug addiction. In between she suffered a late-term miscarriage and had three more children back-to-back.

She always thought a dream life meant having a big house, kids, lots of money, and new cars. Since she hadn't yet cracked the code for the American dream, "I turned to the person that every American woman turns to when looking for a way to make a better life for herself: Oprah."

Watching the daytime talk show queen helped Ochoa Adams put a name to what happened to her as a child. But she was still searching for something more. Ochoa Adams was baptized Catholic but attended a small-town Baptist church growing up. When she reverted to Catholicism at age thirty-three in order to marry her second husband, Ochoa Adams was convinced that Catholics had all of the answers to life's toughest questions. But she quickly learned that becoming Catholic didn't mean she could just erase her bad choices and difficult past. And just when she thought she was getting her life together, her son, Anthony, died by suicide.

God, therapy, and caring priests helped her face her pain and heal her brokenness. She wants you to see yourself in her mistakes, learn from them, and realize along with her that even when we've put our trust in God—even if it's begrudgingly—we still have to do the tough work to become the person God wants us to be.

"I still make mistakes," she says, "but I'm trying not to live as a hot mess even when things around me are messy."

In every novel there are pivotal places that can make or break a book. Write them well, and you'll have your readers begging for a sequel. Write them poorly, and your book will get scathing reviews and sell only a handful of copies. These pivotal places are "linchpin moments," and in this book you'll learn how to nail these moments.

Based on real advice from editing hundreds of novels, John Matthew Fox guides writers through the process of creating a novel that soars in the reader's imagination. After reading this book, you'll be a better storyteller, a better self-editor, and a better writer. In this book you'll learn how to:

  • Flood your readers with strong emotions.
  • Create memorable beginnings and endings.
  • Describe characters for the first time.
  • Make readers swoon in romantic scenes.
  • Kill off characters (without enraging your readers).
  • Harness the element of surprise

A chronicle of survival in a world of the living dead.

There is no Heaven or Hell; there is only blood and the dust of flesh.

The Dead Bear Witness

Sentenced to life after a bank robbery gone bad, Cornell thought his worst nightmare had come true—and that he deserved it. After a stint in solitary, though, he learned his nightmare had only started: While Cornell rotted in isolation, all around the world the dead had returned to life.

Inside the prison walls, Cornell should’ve been well protected.

He didn’t reckon on the stone-cold killer who demanded his help breaking out, nor the fanatic warden who forced him to help “save the souls” of other prisoners. He didn’t count on being snared in a web of lies, violence, and betrayal. He didn’t expect his survival to depend on fighting his way back to freedom before the eyes of the watchful dead. Now as nooses sway over the prison yard, Cornell can almost feel one tightening around his neck, and freedom seems so far away….

Ayla Helero, a Markless orphan, has always believed she would escape her dismal fate. But when a betrayal leads to a Burning and she is cast into thralldom, her belief turns to despair as she swears bitter revenge.

Elyon Errol, a hopeful thrall in the Trench of Balthon, wants nothing more than to return to his life of old. But when he is whisked away to a foreign land by a benevolent leader, he must choose between what is best for him and what is best for his people.

Mysterious voices whisper to those who will listen, hinting at myths that could be their only chance for revenge. Their only chance for justice. Their only chance for peace.

Ayla is listening. She hears the voices. She whispers back.

The Markless will Rise.

Digital audiobook
Series: The Syphon Series (1)

She Traded in her Crown... for a Bow and Arrow.

As a Syphon and a princess, I was meant to rule the Kingdom of D’Land with healing hands, but I have only brought death. A foolish dalliance in romance with my betrothed led to my mother’s demise and the arrival of a Leech who took the crown with subterfuge and a corruption of the Syphon ability to influence emotion. With my father in foreign lands and my cruel stepmother enacting harsh punishment and unreasonable laws upon my impoverished people, I had only one choice. To flee. But not into oblivion. No. Into the Band of Brothers, who work in secret, plotting to overthrow the new queen.

I, Princess Andrua, became Dru, a young outlaw… and a lad to most. But some, including Hawkin, my closest companion among the Brothers, know of my femininity. His secret glances aren’t half as confusing as encountering my betrothed, Prince Edward, while guised as a bandit after his treasures. Now, I fear my identity may rear its head and destroy all I have built toward reclaiming my kingdom. Should word carry that the lost princess lurks in Death Valley, my new family and all I hold dear will never find refuge from the evil Leech queen’s all-consuming greed and thirst for others’ demise. Will our kingdom fall to her iron grip and perish, or can the Band of Brothers, my betrothed, and I rise and reclaim what is rightfully ours?

Genevieve grew up knowing two things. One: It’s her destiny to do battle with the Shinar. Two: She and her Nephilim, Harith, belong together. The problem is her matchmaking magic hasn’t manifested yet, and she can’t get “Harry” to claim her.

When Harry neglects to claim Genevieve on her twenty-first birthday, and her new haircut elicits more of an emotional response from him than she’s seen in years, their fight unlocks a vault of memories he’s been keeping from her. Fed up with him and his secrets, she takes matters into her own hands and decides to have sex with the first man she sees. But she gets more than she’s bargained for when this defiant act triggers a series of events that lead her toward her future, by showing her the past.

Meanwhile, no one in her coven knows what her powers will be or how they are supposed to help her fight a race of beings as old as the universe who only want one thing—the planet Earth as their meal—in the exciting and steamy conclusion to the Witchbound series.

Graphic, gritty, bloodthirsty, steamy, and uniquely original, The Witchbound Saga is unlike any other horror/paranormal romance series you’ve ever read and is recommended for mature readers.

This is the sixth and final book in the Witchbound novels. These books may be read independently.

The longevity code simplified: Discover aging solutions with a plan!

This book will reactivate your energy pathways to 10X productivity which can be easier than thought. If you start on time, you’ll be able to implement:

  • Aging as a spiritual practice is how you can progress from strength to strength and reclaim your brain and heart.
  • Aging gracefully for women - the secrets of pain dysfunction and old age
  • How aging through healing can enable both women and men to be pain-free. You can embrace healing for aging, but you have to know your energy pathways first!
  • Men are from mars? – Reclaiming your body’s trust means aging well with a twist; the energy pathways of all of our bodies contain our longevity secrets.
  • Aging and memory – how energy over the mind can heal decades-long health care neglect.

Feel better, no matter what!

As we approach middle age, we become frantic at the prospect of growing old. Instead of looking forward to a new stage of our life, we are overwhelmed by the plethora of available medical treatments that will treat the next new disease. Our good health now seems a brilliant idea, except that we need a doctor.

Don’t worry. You simply need this surprising and uplifting health information.

In The Miracle of Aging and Longevity, you’ll discover more specifically:

  • The key energy building blocks of which you are made and how they work
  • Why medications, surgical interventions, and expensive treatments are the last line of undetected failures that can go back decades
  • The healing pathways that you need right now in order to embrace the present moment, and how to care for them
  • Aging nutrition and diet that is mandatory to enable you to heal
  • 250+ medical references you can discuss with your practitioner to up-end your care
  • A simple 3-step morning routine, self-care tips, plus the one Caveat that you cannot live without …

Do you think you have been left behind by the advances in energy medicine? Do you feel ‘out of it’ and not able to pinpoint the cause? Are you easily crushed by perceived setbacks? Do you have unexplained physical pains? Do you wish you could be more active?

I decided to write this book after I lost my best friend. Not to mention my health battle with a ruthless and irresponsible string of medical failures. The Miracle of Aging and Longevity is a must-read if you want to put action, healing, and self-care above procrastination. Dare your body to the energy it deserves by reading this book!

In Western Journeys, Teow Lim Goh charts her journeys immigrating from Singapore and spending the last fifteen years living in and exploring the American West. Goh chronicles her lived experiences while building on the longer history of immigrants from Asia during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, bringing new insights to places, the historical record, and memory. These vital essays consider how we access truth in the face of erasure. In exploring history, nature, politics, and art, Goh asks, "What does it mean for an immigrant to be at home?"

Looking beyond the captivating landscapes of the American West, Goh uncovers stories of the Chinese people who came to America during the era of the Chinese Exclusion Act, the Indigenous peoples who have been written out of popular narratives, and the early mountaineers' merciless ambitions, among many others. She examines the links between the transcontinental railroad, the cowboy myth, and the anti-Chinese prejudice that persists today. These essays explore the early efforts to climb Colorado's highest peaks, the massacre of Chinese miners in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and the increasingly destructive fire seasons in the West. Goh's essays create a complex, varied, and sometimes contradictory story of people and landscapes, a tapestry of answers and questions.

A collection of fifty-two questions that Jesus asked or that people asked Jesus arranged in 2-3 page chapters. All come from the Gospels or Acts. The book can be used like a devotional and would work well for group study in a small group or book club. It will help the reader to grow in spiritual maturity. Some of Jesus' parables are explained because they provide answers to questions or raise questions themselves.

It provides something of a commentary on the most interesting questions in people’s interactions with Jesus—people like the Samaritan woman at the well, Nicodemus, and Mary and Martha. Do you wonder what is the unforgivable sin against the Holy Spirit, or the sign of Jonah? Jesus’ questions in the Sermon on the Mount are explored and many more too.

Jesus asked questions to engage His listeners or to challenge their thinking. His disciples often wanted to understand Him but sometimes to use Him; His opponents sharpened them as weapons against Him. Some of Jesus’ questions seem stupid, even rude—they’re not! As always with Jesus, there’s more to everything He said than at first appears. The interactions have lasting value too—for us. What lies behind the questions we sometimes ask God? What do His questions teach us about ourselves? His questions examine us and encourage us to think and live more like Him.

Stacey Freeman had no idea what she was in for when she looked inside her husband's suitcase, but what she found would change the course of her life and her children's forever. Set in Short Hills, New Jersey, I Bought My Husband's Mistress Lingerie tells the relatable story of a woman once happily married to her high school sweetheart who had watched her marriage slowly deteriorate without seeing the reality around her. But the moment she did and realized divorce and full physical custody of her three young children were imminent, she had no choice but to re-evaluate her life, her goals, and her definition of success.

Taking readers around the world and back in time for an emotional ride through her childhood and adolescence, marriage, separation and divorce, navigation of bicontinental co-parenting, introduction to mid-life dating, and return to work, Stacey Freeman invites readers to share in her hits and misses in this no-holds-barred portrayal of what happened in the aftermath of discovering the person she loved and trusted most had betrayed her. Oscillating between periods of despair and laughter and often landing somewhere in between, Stacey Freeman's memoir in essays serves as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and how sometimes gifts can come from the most unexpected people and places.

Five worlds compete in the Space Olympics to determine which should survive a supernova.

In a bleeding corner of space, the human race is dying. Again. They are good at dying. Millennia ago, they died on Earth. Soon, they’ll die here, under their second sun. Death chases them. Tag, you’re it. And so, they run.

Their sun is ready to supernova. She is dying, and they will follow. The ancient seedship, their last hope, can only fit a single colony. Their people have thrived and grown since Earth’s exodus, but there is not enough room to save them all. To determine a worthy survivor, five worlds will fight in the Space Olympics. One will win, will live on, fly far, fly free. The rest will join the stars.

From three different worlds, Camroc, Bazi, and Ketra—an athlete, reporter, and princess—fight for their right to survive.

CONTENT WARNING: Though Burn the Sun is not as dark as some of Halo’s book monsters, it does contain several graphic and disturbing scenes. Reader discretion is advised.

Series: Naughty and Nice (1)

So, here’s the good news. Santa is real. Bad news... so are zombies. Sounds crazy right?

Then again, so does looking forward to an old guy breaking into your house every year in his pyjamas to raid your cookie jar and watch you sleep. Yet here we are.

Take a peek at the rotten underbelly of the typically impotent Christmas Carol. A world where Santa is really a superpowered beefcake on a mission of vengeance to slaughter some undead a-holes who thought a Mrs Claws-sized chew toy was a brilliant idea.

Now with a naughty list swelling faster than an anaphylactic chewing a peanut, the bearded reaper must ride his dragon-powered sleigh to bloody war against a zombie army that threatens the world, and the old friend who betrayed him. But as he decks the halls with blood and bodies, it seems even in this nightmare, a jolly bedtime story can be found. Because no matter how dark the war that wages in the shadows, come Christmas night, children and Santaphiles everywhere will still scramble to bed in the hopes that their hero pops in for a visit.

So, crack open the eggnog and settle in for the neurological equivalent of tooth decay as this bizarre origin story spews its madness across the page. Battling witches, wolves, dragons and the things in the title, The True Tale of Santa the Zombie Slayer is a whirlwind of action, adventure and comedy that is sure to give your sleighbells a jingle.

Inside this debut collection, girlhood's dangers echo, transmuted, in the poet's fears for her son. A body just discovering the vastness of "want's new acreage" is humbled by chronic illness. Epithalamion turns elegy. But this world that so often seems capricious in its cruelty also shelters apple orchards, glass museums, schoolchildren, century-old sharks; "there's no accounting for / all we want to save, no names."

Oliver's polyphonic gathering of speakers includes lovers and saints, painters and dead poets, a hawk and a mother. In varied forms (ghazals and prose poems, dialogues and erasures, bref double and Golden Shovel, among others) these poems bear witness to and seek reprieve from disasters at once commonplace and terrifying. "I can't surface for every scalpel slice, / I need a dreamy estuary present," she writes.

Stumbling toward joy across time and space, these poems hum with fear and desire, bewildering loss, and love's lush possibilities.

In the throne room, he was the furthest away from me, but now he’s only inches from me. I could see every detail of him. His orange crown sparkled in the sunlight, like a crystal, and foreign words were carved into the base. His clothes held a weird yet natural texture, he wore a belt that held a sword and ax at his side, and he had large well made shoes.

“I am Dulick Rasheeckma and the King and Queen have granted me your hand,” he said forwardly.

Isla Cunnington is a princess from a dying kingdom that desperately needs help, but when her parents choose an eligible king for her to marry, how will she react when she finds out that her soon-to-be husband is an Orc?

In a world where humans and orcs coexist, it is not unheard of for humans and orcs to be together, but he’s a king! She is set to be his queen, his mate, and the one his people look up to.

How will their world react when they declare their marriage? Will they be able to overcome the problems that come with being different species?

Poor Clara.

On the one hand, things are going well: she's aced her Math final, and school's almost out for the year. Dad's hanging in there with contract jobs, Mom's helping make ends meet by cleaning other people's homes, and they've at least got a roof over their heads. Vegas isn't the nicest place in the summer, but it's no worse than the half-dozen other places she's lived in her short life. But on the other hand, she has no friends. Everyone at school is either diffident or a bully-as if they can sense that Clara doesn't quite fit in.

And then there are the triplets, who mysteriously vanish in the Art Alley near the school. That's when things get interesting.

Clara follows them through a Border to Underhill, and before long she's thrown into a world she never knew existed. A world of magic, witches, excitement, and danger. She not only has to fit in with her new classmates-and avoid the ire of the "in" clique that every school seems to have-she's apparently the only one who can save all of Underhill from an exile who wants to trap them all and cut off the source of magic!

Also, she's pretty sure her parents knew about this all along.

She died and he lost his memories of her.

A life that, Francesco, feels destroyed, incurable.

Rehabilitation has failed.

The encouragement of his family was not enough.

Friends put aside.

Except that, suddenly, after months of unlimited suffering, an old schoolmate proposes an ambiguous solution: to try a substance able to take him into a parallel world to meet his lost love. He must travel through an uncharted reality and bend the law of nature in order to regain lost memories. But in this new reality, Francesco meets another girl and new friends.

Who are they and why do they look so familiar?

Will he be able to understand the facets of life's deepest secrets?

Also, the story take place between Italy and Bournemouth (United Kingdom). I would say that mainly it dwells in Bournemouth.

The story probes different aspects of human potential, revealing a world of emotions and sensations that we often keep hidden or unacknowledged. It offers the reader an opportunity to reflect on the feelings of guilt frequently felt by those who have had to face the loss of a loved one.

In the heart of America’s Second Dust Bowl, amid drought and raging heat, Isobel Walsh weaves a web to survive.

There is a strange new girl at Happy Hearts.

The strange new girl says strange new things.

“Daddy’s ashes. Mommy’s ashes. Sissy and Buddy both fell down,” she says.

“There’s something wrong with Isobel,” they all say.

Isobel has behaved, though. She hasn’t hurt anyone since she arrived. She hurt many before she arrived, but so have all those here. They’re murder babies, parent killers. Happy Hearts is a homeless shelter for little girls and boys who never grew up.

“Play with me. I like games,” Isobel says.

So the residents play her games. She makes them jump. She makes them dance. She makes them laugh, and she makes them cry. They think they’re winning, but nobody wins Isobel’s games. It’s fun for her. They pretend it’s fun for them, too.

Yes, Isobel Walsh is a strange new girl in a strange new world saying strange new things. Though she’s more gun than girl, more weapon than woman, twenty-five years old in a world made of clay.

CONTENT WARNING: Girl of Dust and Smoke is a disturbing novella intended for mature audiences, including murder, death, violence, sex, incest, rape, sexual assault, underage sex, child abuse, and prostitution. This list is not comprehensive. Please read at your own risk.

Secrets are sentient. In the far, foreign future, a deep-space mission turns catastrophic when the crew’s personal demons become literal demons and seek revenge.

The Ward gathers broken souls for doomed missions. RJ, Kaj, Mazha, and Jace fit the bill perfectly…perhaps too perfectly. A criminal past, a dangerous dream, a tragic accident, and an unbearable shame comprise the secrets that haunt and consume them. They run from their pasts, escape toward their futures, and when the Ward opens a door, they all barrel through, leaving the Protectorate’s interstellar sanctuary for a paycheck and adrenaline.

Once in deep space, however, the secrets they buried burst free from their graves and gain a murderous sentience intent on revenge. The four crewmates must fight to overcome their deepest regrets, or their secrets will destroy them.

But secrets are mortal wounds. They don’t heal easily…and they don’t like to heal, either.

CONTENT WARNING: The Mortality Experiment is a highly graphic novel intended for mature audiences, including on-page murder, death, torture, mutilation, abuse, child abuse, substance abuse, violence, sex, rape, incest, and mental illnesses. This list is not comprehensive. Please read at your own risk.

Series: Song of the Druids (1)

Nineteen-year-old Alyosha Kamenev has lived in Isle Meridian off the coast of South Carolina since he was eight years old. Having fled as a refugee from his home country of Enriya after an invasion by neighboring Russia, he eventually learns to call a life in the tropics his own. Despite having the bright white hair of his people, Alyosha integrates fully into the culture of the Meridians, even moving in with his best friend, Loren Merrik, and his family during their middle school years.

When infidelity rattles the dynamic of the Merrik family and sends them down divergent paths from one another, Alyosha finds himself suffering from instability once again. Matters are complicated further when he has a lethal encounter with Loren's uncle, Maiser Vance, which may or may not be responsible for a sharp decline in his health.

Now lonely and sick, Alyosha attempts the irrational to resolve the effects of the illness by pursuing the only clue left behind by Maiser -- a single piece of paper written in a dead language of the Celtic Druids, and Isle Meridian's sister island, All Saints Island, where the Druids have lived in isolation for over two centuries.

In this unique comedy collection, "Don't sh*t in my toilet" uses questionable wit to indulge your humor palate.

"This book is a work of genius!" - Christian H.

"Big nose. Big ears. He still looks like a fuc*ing cartoon character." - Bully from middle school

"I can't believe he wrote a book. Or that I dated him. Gross!" - Anonymous

Take my hand (or not. I may have just scratched my ....) as we journey through a variety of comedy types and styles. We'll explore satire, sketch, surreal, observational, and even some bodily stuff. Sure, there's humor about poop. Butt, there are also different kinds, like abnormal advertisements, new greeting cards, terrible human behaviors (both real and digital), poop (did I mention this already?), and amazing new products, like a product that can give that space between your privates and cheeks a much-needed makeover. It even has some thinkers, like riddles, multiple choice questions, and new euphemisms.

Think of it as lowbrow humor with a hint of that highbrow stuff. It calls out and pokes fun at human absurdity, which is why some people love animals way more than humans. It's the ideal gift for potty humorists and poo enthusiasts, and works for any occasion (except funerals?...or maybe funerals?). Best of all, there are pictures!!!

I fully expect this book to cure humanity of all its annoying flaws, resulting in everyone living happy, wonderful lives. What? It could happen.

Don’t like inflation? The constant printing of paper money is unlikely to stop any time soon. Bitcoin, “the digital gold”, may offer some protection against it. This book explains why bitcoin cannot be inflated and why it might keep on gaining ground against paper money. It also proposes a hands-on way to invest in it while still sleeping well at night regardless of whether bitcoin succeeds or fails.

It's love in the time of atomic monsters in this sci-fi Western with the soul of Stranger Things and The Goonies, from the cult-favorite author of the Exponential Apocalypse series.

After a secret rendezvous goes fatally awry, store-crossed lovers Rhea and Wren, sixteen-year-olds from opposite sides of the last truck stop in existence, find themselves hunted and on the run, forced to survive in the post-utopian wreckage of an alien-blighted civilization. They'll need to face down the impossible threats of a neverending desert, the atomic insects and sandstorms and the barren nothingness of a world rusted sharp, in search of a city that shouldn't be.

The nights are long and the odds are bad, but Wren and Rhea wouldn't have it any other way. They're finally free, reveling in being alone, and together. But happiness is never easy at the end of everything, and soon enough – and with some unexpected help – the teenagers stumble upon a series of cascading discoveries that upend everything they thought they knew, leaving them reeling, reconsidering, and forced to reckon with what they owe the ones they left behind.

So, Drake and his family follow all the new societal rules to a tee—wear gloves, long sleeves, and pants at all times, and never touch an extra-terrestrial. Defying expectations of a woman growing up in Arizona in the 1960s, Patricia Grayhall fled Phoenix at nineteen for the vibrant streets of San Francisco, determined to finally come out as a lesbian after years of trying to be a "normal" girl. Her dream of becoming a physician drew her back to college, and then on to medical school in conservative Salt Lake City.

Though Patricia enjoyed a supportive friendship with a male colleague, she longed for an equal, loving relationship with a woman. But her graduate medical training in Boston, with its emotional demands, long hours, lack of sleep, and social isolation, compounded by the free-wheeling sexual revolution of the 1970s, made finding that special relationship difficult. Often disappointed but never defeated, Patricia--armed with wit and determination--battled on against sexism in her male-dominated profession and against discrimination in a still largely homophobic nation, plunging herself into a life that was never boring and certainly never without passion.

A chronicle of coming of age during second-wave feminism and striving to have both love and career as a gay medical doctor, Making the Rounds is a well-paced and deeply humanizing memoir of what it means to seek belonging and love—and to find them, in the most surprising ways.

Jackie Stories 4-6: A Vanity Fair Insider / An Iconic Art Director / A Cultural BuccaneerQuick Look
Digital audiobook

These are three of Jackie's friends you've probably never heard of before. Yet, their anonymity speaks to a side of Jackie that wanted to escape stardom. She liked to warm herself near the talent of other women who'd distinguished themselves in ways she never quite could.

4 A Vanity Fair Insider. Fred Astaire and Jackie Onassis were both pinnacles of American elegance in the twentieth century. VF editor Sarah Giles produced a feature article on Fred Astaire that Jackie adored. Jackie wanted Giles's article made into a book. Complications ensued. Jackie's longstanding insistence on her own privacy was a little damaged in the tussle that followed.

5 An Iconic Art Director. One of the most famous professionals in the visual arts came to be friends with Jackie in the 1970s. They also considered doing a book together. Their proposed topic was Audrey Hepburn, but Jackie shied away at the last minute. Were Audrey and Jackie were a little too much alike? Is that why Jackie turned the idea down?

6 A Lecturer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Double crossings. Dishonest dealing. Hurt feelings. These were some of the features of high life in Manhattan during the 1980s and 1990s. Jackie was one of the city's megawatt attractions. She had power, but the people who were the subjects of the books she wanted to edit sometimes had more.

These are three short nonfiction stories about what it was like to interview Jackie's friends. They all remembered her vividly. In telling me about themselves and their friendship with Jackie, they reveal more about the former First Lady than a catalog of her dresses or a collection of snapshots can convey.

Jackie Stories 7-8: An Expert from the Ballet World & A Harvard Professor's WifeQuick Look
Digital audiobook

These last two stories in the series are about Jackie's relationship with two rare people. One took me to his club, where Jackie and Brooke Astor were among the first female members. The other told me about accompanying Jackie to India, where together with her husband they travelled as a threesome.

7 - Jackie consulted Francis Mason when she wanted to change jobs after her unhappy time at Viking. He made an effort to take her to visit art publishers where he knew she'd be happy. Then she rejected his advice. Did he bear a grudge? The story of why he didn't is what makes him a fascinating man.

8 - Edith Welch gave me a behind-the-scenes account of traveling with Jackie on Indian adventures. She also wanted to talk to me about high-class prostitutes who may be admired but never possessed.

These are two short nonfiction accounts of interviews I did with longterm friends of Jackie's. I went away more impressed with these members of Jackie's circle than I'd expected. Each of them was skilled at weaving me into the conversation before I knew what was happening.

Series: Era Capoeira (2)

In Playing With Fire, Book 2 of the martial arts series Era Capoeira, we meet Javier Martínez and Luna Michaels. Their story begins with a one night stand. The connection between them is instantaneous. One look into her golden-brown eyes and Javier is hooked. The problem was that he had no business being attracted to Luna or any other woman for that matter, right now. His trip to London was supposed to be a short one. Javier’s life at home in Spain and the past he was still dealing with, ensured that he would stick to that plan.

Luna had been to many of the Capoeira workshops at the school she’d been a part of for years. They were the highlight of the season and she always looked forward to them. This year, however, she meets one particular invitee, who she simply cannot resist, nor does she want to.

When their one night of passion comes to an end, Javier walks away from it feeling guilt-ridden, and Luna, with a little surprise.

In the always-connected, always-online digital age and social media world, we tend to forget how life was before the ubiquity of laptops, tablets, mobile devices, smartwatches, and so on. The terms such as outsourcing, offshoring, nearshoring, and many more did not exist. The Indian IT industry was in its infancy.

Aithal takes us on an exciting walk down memory lane as he weaves his narration to pen his experiences migrating from Mumbai to New York—a culture shock. As the title suggests, the story combines his experiences in settling down in America and the dawn of IT opportunities. Both, adjusting to the social life in the US—where he faces the challenges of day-to-day life—and the professional life.

Peppered with humorous anecdotes in his early years of settling down in the US, the story makes an easy read with revealing details that many second-generation Indian-Americans are unaware of.

If You Consider Time the Most Precious Asset in Your Life and Therefore Want to Read the Essentials of a Book Presented in a Clear and Concise Summary Without Missing Any Highlights of the Original Book, Then Read On…

Note to readers: This is a summary of Siddhartha Mukherjee’s book The Song of the Cell: An Exploration of Medicine and the New Human and not the original book designed to enhance your reading experience!

About This Summary!

In Mukherjee’s book The Song of the Cell, Mukherjee begins with a magnificent story in the late 1600s, when a distinguished English polymath, Robert Hooke, and an eccentric Dutch cloth merchant, Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, looked down their handmade microscopes. What they saw introduced a radical concept that swept through biology and medicine, touching virtually every aspect of the two sciences, and altering both forever. It was the fact that complex living organisms are assemblages of tiny, self-contained, self-regulating units. Our organs, our physiology, our selves—hearts, blood, brains—are built from these compartments. Hooke christened them “cells”.

The discovery of cells—and the reframing of the human body as a cellular ecosystem—announced the birth of a new kind of medicine based on the therapeutic manipulations of cells. A hip fracture, a cardiac arrest, Alzheimer’s dementia, AIDS, pneumonia, lung cancer, kidney failure, arthritis, COVID pneumonia—all could be reconceived as the results of cells, or systems of cells, functioning abnormally. And all of them could be treated with cellular therapies.

In The Song of the Cell, Mukherjee tells the story of how scientists discovered cells, began to understand them, and are now using that knowledge to create new humans. He seduces you with writing so vivid, lucid, and suspenseful that complex science becomes thrilling. Told in six parts, laced with Mukherjee’s own experience as a researcher, a doctor, and a prolific reader, The Song of the Cell is both panoramic and intimate—a masterpiece.

This book holds up the mirror of truth that America badly needs. While it analyses Trump-era politics and the divisive cracks that developed, it shows how they became wider since his 2020 election loss. Firstly, how Trump won the 2016 election against all odds is explored. When people lose their livelihoods while their traditional values are under siege, the result is populist rage and scapegoating in a vicious cultural war. Trump so exploited and exacerbated the situation that it ultimately drove a wedge between friends, and even family. His misogyny and anti-woman agenda while pandering to patriarchal grievances created fractures that insidiously bled into marriage and romantic markets. As matchmaker eHarmony put it: "politics are on the minds of daters more than ever" while marriage fell to a 118-year low.

When polarization gets to the stage that singleton becomes the new normal, you sense the country is in the Loveless Age and in trouble. Terry's research traces how Trump's MAGA promise failed men given their work got automated while women got hired in a post-industrial economy more congenial to female skills. The crisis in masculinity in a changing world prompted many yearning for marriage and fatherhood to re-evaluate traditional masculinity. Enter ambitious women (who didn't vote the anti-feminist Trump) recognizing their smartest career move is to marry down to helpmate "daddy-trackers" (this is contrasted with marry-up strategies where patriarchy is still seen as the solution to the American Dream). Could this new mating convention with more women the primary breadwinner calling the shots on how households vote ultimately scorch a Trump/clone comeback in 2024?

“You don’t know my sister. I’ve been thinking about how tough she is. She’s tougher than I’ll ever be...”

After Theresa Cole finds out she’s pregnant with a child likely to be born with a genetic abnormality, an infant she and her husband Charlie had eagerly anticipated, she considers having an abortion. When she subsequently disappears from her family's Minnesota farm, her sister Annie tries to figure out why. No one else seems concerned at first, except Charlie, who's stationed in Afghanistan, and Charlie’s father, Woodrow, who drives an eyebrow-raising pickup all the way from Alabama to search for his son’s missing wife. Claire, another sister, becomes alarmed too and agrees to help. But Theresa’s mother Maureen, a deeply religious woman, takes a stand against them, determined to save Theresa and her baby both, no matter the costs to herself or anyone else.

Theresa et al. surveys America’s battlefield on abortion from many points of view, exploring how a woman’s choices—or lack thereof—pierce the fabric of family life, impacting not only those closest to her, but spreading out in tremors that have a ripple effect on the communities that surround her.

Chased by treasure hunters, gangsters and spies, they don't know who to trust. If they don't find the Album first, they could end up missing - or dead - themselves.

Harrison and Prudence face a choice. Will they be pawns in a game of global conflict, or can they help a maverick KGB agent on a mission of personal redemption?

For fans of Alex Rider, Code Name Verity, and I Must Betray You, and anyone who loves the music of the Beatles.

At age 60, with only a single previous marathon under his belt and recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, Joe Drake decided to run all six of these races on the compressed schedule.

In Run With It, writing in a style that is charmingly humorous and informative, Joe marks his debut as an author. He tells of his transformation into a marathoner, the physical and logistical challenges of running these races amid a world eager to emerge from a global catastrophe, and how this quest with the help of friends, family, and the running community allowed him to devise a strategy for coping with Parkinson's.

He’s a rock star who can’t remember his own songs… and his only hope is a Japanese kid who hates his music.

Waking up from a coma handcuffed to a Tokyo hospital bed is bad enough. Being arrested for assault is worse. But failing to remember his own songs is the final straw for Wood, stage name Driftwood.

Stuck in Tokyo until the trial, he thinks of everything that brought him to that point. Wood traverses the rock scene of the late 1990s—the American South, Europe, the former Soviet Union, and Tokyo—with his bandmate, Jesse, their exhausted manager, Rachel, and a condescending Bassett Hound. Through bar brawls, cattle prods, voodoo rituals, acid trips, and fights over the TV remote, the characters explore themes of race, sexuality, fame, love, and death.

And in the most frightening moment of his life, hope. Hope to rebuild his life with the help of a young woman he met in Tokyo, and a Japanese guitar player who helps fill the terrible emptiness where his songs used to be.

An engaging whirlwind of a novel—The Driftwood Tour is a love letter to musicians and music lovers across the globe.

Anyone raising a girl knows that it's not easy, to say the least.

This book is intended to bridge the gap between mothers and daughters. You'll find thought-provoking exercises that will eventually teach you to raise a girl to love herself and have enough self-confidence to be a badass girl.

This book is unique because of the friendly, engaging way it's written. The writer gives examples from her real life making it interesting to read and not just another guidebook for parents.

Another thing that separates this book from others is the fact that the author chooses to unfold the parent's approach toward parenting causing the reader to have a few "ah-ha" moments with themselves.
