With the help of Star, Narwhal's wish comes true in the wildest, weirdest way: Narwhal gets some land legs and takes their first step ashore. After some wibble-wobbling and a bit of practice, Narwhal is soon galloping along in search of unicorns, though Jelly is a little land sick. Before they know it, Star has the duo blasting off to a magical planet where everyone is a unicorn! But Jelly's out-of-this-world adventure makes him feel out of his comfort zone, and he wishes he were at home... can Narwhal cheer Jelly up and also party down with their new unicorn pals?

From the internationally bestselling author of The Mountains Sing, a suspenseful and moving saga about family secrets, hidden trauma, and the overriding power of forgiveness, set during the war and in present-day Việt Nam.

In 1969, sisters Trang and Quỳnh, desperate to help their parents pay off debts, leave their rural village and become "bar girls" in Sài Gòn, drinking, flirting (and more) with American GIs in return for money. As the war moves closer to the city, the once-innocent Trang gets swept up in an irresistible romance with a young and charming American helicopter pilot. Decades later, an American veteran, Dan, returns to Việt Nam with his wife, Linda, hoping to find a way to heal from his PTSD and, unbeknownst to her, reckon with secrets from his past.

At the same time, Phong—the son of a Black American soldier and a Vietnamese woman—embarks on a search to find both his parents and a way out of Việt Nam. Abandoned in front of an orphanage, Phong grew up being called "the dust of life," "Black American imperialist," and "child of the enemy," and he dreams of a better life for himself and his family in the U.S.

Past and present converge as these characters come together to confront decisions made during a time of war—decisions that force them to look deep within and find common ground across race, generation, culture, and language. Suspenseful, poetic, and perfect for readers of Min Jin Lee's Pachinko or Yaa Gyasi's Homegoing, Dust Child tells an unforgettable and immersive story of how those who inherited tragedy can redefine their destinies through love, hard-earned wisdom, compassion, courage, and joy.

An intimate and moving graphic memoir by cartoonist Nate Fakes, dedicated to his stepdad Ron, a larger-than-life personality who gradually becomes affected by a rare form of dementia.

Editor's Picks, Honorable Mention at Publishers Weekly's US Book Show

"A Fade of Light is a rare story that is both deeply heartbreaking and heartwarming. Nate Fakes is an observant writer and artist, with a good memory and an eye for small, revealing details. In his clear cartooning style, Fakes shows he and his family navigating a rare disease imperfectly but as well as they can. He captures the confusion and frustration of knowing something's wrong but not what, of desperately wanting to fix something that can't be fixed."

Brian Fies, Eisner Award-winning author of Mom's Cancer

The first time Nate met his future stepdad in the summer of 1994, he thought Ron was nice, goofy, and kind, the type of guy who wasn't afraid to be himself. Ron liked to honk at other Jeeps while driving his own, bang on the drums without abandon, and order practically the whole menu at drive-thrus. It was alternatively embarrassing, annoying, and funny, though one thing was for sure: life with Ron was never dull.

But as years passed, Nate noticed Ron's behavior becoming erratic and strange. He forgot obvious things and seemed more stubborn and irritable than before. Finally Ron received a diagnosis: he has frontotemporal dementia, a progressive disorder that affects about 10 percent of all dementia cases. There is no cure.

Stylized in black-and-white drawings, A Fade of Light is a graphic memoir capturing the fullness of a life well lived--the ups and downs, the laughter and tears, the joys and heartaches, and the treasured moments that will always be cherished, if not remembered.

A pair of Christmas tree ornaments set out on the merry adventure of a lifetime in this imaginative picture book about the inner lives of holiday decorations.

All is quiet in the forest as the Great Star rises in the distance, and two little musicians, Strum and Drum, wake up from a deep slumber and set out to make the most joyous music they can! But as Strum strums his guitar and Drum drums her drum on their way to the North, some mysterious obstacles fill their paths... flickering lanterns, bubbles of glass, a silver waterfall, a tiny house, dangerous animals... and a wooden man with a toothy grin warns them of a beast with green eyes lying in wait.

For this is no ordinary forest — it's a Christmas tree, on Christmas Eve, and Strum, Drum and all their new friends are ornaments! But when the green-eyed beast strikes and sends them tumbling out of the "forest," Strum and Drum's quest to reach the Great Star seems doomed... until a little boy setting out milk and cookies for Santa spots them.

A thrilling tale, based on a true story, of one woman's tremendous courage and incomparable wit in trying to rescue her husband from the Tower of London the night before he is to be executed.

The heroine of A Noble Cunning, Bethan Glentaggart, Countess of Clarencefield, a persecuted Catholic noblewoman, is determined to try every possible means of saving her husband's life, with the help of a group of devoted women friends.

Amid the turbulence of the 1715 Rebellion against England's first German king George I, Bethan faces down a mob attack on her home, travels alone from the Scottish Lowlands to London through one of the worst snowstorms in many years, and confronts a cruel king before his court to plead for mercy for her husband Gavin. As a last resort, Bethan and her friends must devise and put in motion a devilishly complex scheme featuring multiple disguises and even the judicious use of poison to try to free Gavin.

Though rich with historical gossip and pageantry, Bethan's story also demonstrates the damage that politics and religious fanaticism can inflict on the lives of individuals.

An African Wildlife Adventure in Poems and Paintings

Can You Spot the Leopard? is author/artist Karen B. Winnick's newest picture book, an adventuresome African safari presented through poems and full-color paintings. Readers begin at sunrise, climbing into a jeep for a bumpy ride to view the wondrous animals as they would on a real safari. All the poems are based on real observations of what animals do in the wild, related in an accessible way. There's even a sighting, finally, of the elusive leopard, before returning to safari camp under a starry night. At the back of the book, further information is related about each animal.  A fun, informational, educational adventure to read and reread.

Ms. Winnick is an animal enthusiast, president of the Los Angeles Zoo Commission, and author of more than a dozen picture books, including Gemina: The Crooked-Neck Giraffe, How Lucky Got His Shoe, and Mr. Lincoln's Whiskers.

"A salute to the power of books and of friendship!"—SARAH SUNDIN, bestselling and award-winning author of Until Leaves Fall in Paris

"The Blackout Book Club is an engaging story that illustrates the power of books to unite and encourage us in trying times... A wonderful read."—LYNN AUSTIN, author of Long Way Home

In 1942, an impulsive promise to her brother before he goes off to the European front puts Avis Montgomery in the unlikely position of head librarian in small-town Maine. Though she has never been much of a reader, when wartime needs threaten to close the library, she invents a book club to keep its doors open. The women she convinces to attend the first meeting couldn't be more different—a wealthy spinster determined to aid the war effort, an exhausted mother looking for a fresh start, and a determined young war worker.

At first, the struggles of the home front are all the club members have in common, but over time, the books they choose become more than an escape from the hardships of life and the fear of the U-boat battles that rage just past their shores. As the women face personal challenges and band together in the face of danger, they find they have more in common than they think. But when their growing friendships are tested by secrets of the past and present, they must decide whether depending on each other is worth the cost.

Includes a book club discussion guide and The Blackout Book Club book list.

What happens when everything falls away, when those you call on in times of need are themselves calling out for rescue?

In his highly anticipated second collection, Chen Chen continues his investigation of family, both blood and chosen, examining what one inherits and what one invents, as a queer Asian American living through an era of Trump, mass shootings, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Always at work in the wrecked heart of this new collection is a switchboard operator, picking up and connecting calls. Raucous 2 a.m. prank calls. Whispered-in-a-classroom emergency calls. And sometimes, its pages record the dropping of a call, a failure or refusal to pick up. With irrepressible humor and play, these anarchic poems celebrate life, despite all that would crush aliveness.

Hybrid in form and set in New England, West Texas, and a landlocked province of China, among other places, Your Emergency Contact Has Experienced an Emergency refuses neat categorizations and pat answers. Instead, the book offers an insatiable curiosity about how it is we keep finding ways to hold onto one another.

An accessible, character-driven story set in 2003 New York City about a genderqueer book conservator who feels trapped by her gender presentation, her ill-fitting relationship, and her artistic block, as she discovers a decades-old hidden queer love letter and becomes obsessed with tracking down its author.

It's 2003, and artist Dawn Levit is stuck. A bookbinder who works in conservation at the Met, she spends her free time scouting the city's street art, hoping something might spark inspiration. Instead, everything looks like a dead end. And art isn't the only thing that feels wrong: wherever she turns, her gender identity clashes with the rest of her life. Her relationship, once anchored by shared queerness, is falling apart as her boyfriend Lukas increasingly seems to be attracted to Dawn only when she's at her most masculine. Meanwhile at work, Dawn has to present as female, even on the days when that isn't true. Either way, her difference feels like a liability.

Then, one day at work, Dawn finds something hidden behind the endpaper of an old book: the torn-off cover of a '50s lesbian pulp novel, Turn Her About. On the front is a campy illustration of a woman looking into a handheld mirror and seeing a man's face. And on the back is a love letter.

Dawn latches onto the coincidence, becoming obsessed with tracking down the note's author. Her fixation only increases when her best friend Jae is injured in a hate crime, for which Dawn feels responsible. As Dawn searches for the letter's author, she is also looking for herself. She tries to understand how to live in a world that doesn't see her as she truly is, how to get unstuck in her gender, and how to rediscover her art, and she can't shake the feeling that the note's author might be able to help guide her to the answers.

A sharply written, deeply evocative story about what it means to live authentically—even within an identity whose parameters have not yet been defined—Endpapers will appeal to readers of queer, nonbinary, or trans fiction like Torrey Peters' Detransition, Baby as well as anyone who loves character-driven, setting-rich stories like Tell the Wolves I'm Home or The Immortalists

The storm hit in the early afternoon, as we started making our way back. The wind began to blow strongly and sounded like unearthly shrieks; noise was deafening. The clouds were pitch-black and the cold rain poured down on us heavily. The yacht was lifted on mountainous dark waves and then crashed down after the wave passed on, again and again like on a rollercoaster. Amidst the magnificent show Mother Nature was putting on, something remarkable happened to me.

The storm was a wakeup call which set in motion a journey. It started with the collapse of the author's world and everything she knew about it, and ended in Australia (also known as "Down Under") on the other side of the world. On that far-away continent, she would find wild romance, but her core values of family, friends, love and loyalty would be tested. She would have to find out who she truly was.

This is a story of wild adventure in search of true meaning and self-identity, which will inspire you to test your own boundaries of true self.

Anat Naveh is a personal development coach, mentor and teacher who lives in Israel. She is a world traveler and her true passion is connecting with people and helping them ignite the light within them. This is her first book.

A baby that keeps losing its brain, a cow in a wedding gown, a woman whose chest is a radio -- bizarre and whimsical figures populate this collection of dreamlike prose poems from Russell Edson (1935-2014), with a Foreword by Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Simic.

A seminal voice in American prose poetry from the sixties onward, Edson's whole career is surveyed in a single volume edited for our times, presenting a new and contemporary view of a poet of startling imagination and strangeness. Craig Morgan Teicher calls us to witness Edson's obsessions with the curious, the absurd, and the peculiar, and the ways in which they can haunt our daily lives. The prose poems in this collection mold our everyday into something extraordinary and unsettling.

Edson's poems are surreal fables in which his characters experience all that life throws at them—marriage, parenthood, technological advances, aging, dying, the afterlife—through irreverent dialogue and vivid imagery in turns both humorous and grotesque. Russell Edson is a vital and ever-contemporary poet with a unique moral and comedic vision, whose literary career quietly yet definitively shaped the prose poetry subgenre as we know it now.

Forty-six-year-old Madeline Fairbanks has no use for ideas like "separation of the races" or "men as the superior sex." There are many in her dying Southern Appalachian town who are upset by her socially progressive views, but for years—partly due to her late husband's still-powerful influence, and partly due to her skill as a healer in a remote town with no doctor of its own—folks have been willing to turn a blind eye to her "transgressions." Even Maddie's decision to take on a Black apprentice, Ren Morgan, goes largely unchallenged by her white neighbors, though it's certainly grumbled about.

But when a charismatic and power-hungry new reverend blows into town in 1917 and begins to preach about the importance of racial segregation, the long-idle local KKK chapter fires back into action—and places Maddie and her friends in Jamesville's Black community squarely in their sights. Maddie had better stop intermingling with Black folks, discontinue her herbalistic "witchcraft," and leave town immediately, they threaten, or they'll lynch Ren's father, Daniel. Faced with this decision, Maddie is terrified... and torn. Will she bow to their demands and walk away—or will she fight to keep the home she's built in Jamesville and protect the future of the people she loves, both Black and white?

Already known as a gorgeous literary stylist and keen-eyed art critic, Emmanuel Iduma unfurls his inimitable, rhythmic prose to tell the story of his return to Nigeria, where he grew up, after years of living in New York. Though prompted in part by a family wedding and the death of his father, he had an urgent, elusive mission, as well: to learn the fate of his uncle Emmanuel, his namesake, who disappeared in the Nigerian Civil War in the late 60s. A conflict that left so many families broken, the war remains at the margins of the history books, almost taboo to discuss, so Iduma must stop in city after city throughout the Biafran region, reconnecting with relatives dear and distant to probe their memories, stopping at university libraries to furtively photo copy illicit books, and visiting half-abandoned monuments along the highway. And perhaps, if he can understand how his father grieved the loss of his brother, Iduma might learn how to grieve his father, in turn.

Equal parts memoir, national history, and political reckoning, this is a story of loss and grief, both deeply personal and collective. It's the story of countless families across the country and across the world who will never have answers or proper funerals for their loved ones. It's a story about the birth of an artist, about writing itself as an act both healing and political, even dangerous. But it's also a classic story of repeated history - how a country that never healed from its fissures decades ago is now seeing the same political agitations roiling again. Underground political groups are clamoring for a new Biafran revolution today, and Iduma must determine whether there's a place for him in that movement. How much of his identity is wrapped up in this history? What does it mean to return home, when home was always more about a person than a place?

Nestled against the backdrop of Seattle's flora, fauna, and cityscape, Luther Hughes' debut poetry collection wrestles with the interior and exterior symbiosis of a gay Black man finding refuge from the threat of depression and death through love and desire.

Hughes draws readers into a Seattle that is heavily entrenched in violent anti-Blackness, and full of vulnerable and personal encounters from both the speaker's past and present. With reverent and careful imagery, Hughes fashions deeply saturated, tender vignettes that reckon relationships between family and friends, lovers, nature, and the police-state.

A Shiver in the Leaves is stunningly cinematic in its layered portrayal of the never-ending dualities of a queer Black poet's life in the city. Hughes's interrogation of selfhood renders a sharply intimate and viscerally powerful reimagining of what it means to be alive in a body, and what it can mean to live.

Selected by Aracelis Girmay, A Tinderbox in Three Acts is at once elegy and exegesis, fact and invention.

In her fourth poetry collection, Cynthia Dewi Oka performs a lyric accounting of the anti-Communist genocide of 1965, which, led by the Indonesian military and with American assistance, erased and devastated millions of lives in Indonesia. Under the New Order dictatorship that ruled by terror for over three decades in the aftermath, perpetrators of the killings were celebrated as national heroes while survivors were systemically silenced. Drawing on US state documents that were only declassified in recent years, Oka gives form and voice to the ghosts that continue to haunt subsequent generations despite decades of state-produced amnesia and disinformation.

In service of recovering what must not be remembered, A Tinderbox in Three Acts repurposes the sanitized lexicon of official discourse, imagines an emotional syntax for the unthinkable, and employs synesthetic modes of perception to convey that which exceeds language. Here, the boundary between singular and collective consciousness is blurred. Here, history as an artifact of the powerful is trumped by the halting memory of the people whom power sought to destroy. Where memory fails, here is poetry to honor the dishonored, the betrayed, the lost and still-awaited.

There have been few times in US American history when the very concept of freedom of speech—its promise and its contradictions—has been under greater scrutiny.

Guided by acclaimed artist, filmmaker, and activist Amar Kanwar, the Vera List Center for Art and Politics at The New School convened a series of public seminars on freedom of speech with the participation of some of the most original thinkers and artists on the topic. Structured as an open curriculum, each seminar examined a particular aspect of freedom of speech, reflecting on and informed by recent debates around hate speech, censorship, sexism, and racism in the US and elsewhere.

Studies into Darkness emerges from these seminars as a collection of newly commissioned texts, artist projects, and resources that delve into the intricacies of free speech. Providing a practical and historical guide to free speech discourse and in-depth investigations that extend far beyond the current moment, and featuring poetic responses to the crises present in contemporary culture and society around expression, this publication provocatively questions whether true communication is ever attainable.

She explains factors that contribute to our confusion and helps Christians pay attention to how we consume content and think about truth. Finally, she provides specific ways to take action, empowering readers to avoid succumbing to or fueling the knowledge crisis.

Like the stack of unpaid business loans that threaten the bar's existence. As well as her newfound feelings she's developed for her best guy friend.

Davis Vance is tired of being followed around by cameras. He misses the days before he and his twin brother became "Renovation Dudes"-hosts of an HGTV show. And on the night of the bar's Halloween party, both Kelsey and Davis can no longer ignore their desires. Will their passionate evening be a one-night stand-only a flicker of heat during the crisp autumn, or will she risk her pride and accept his help?

The umpteenth millennial celestial changeover is forthcoming, once again moving from a male to a female God—from Mr. to Mrs. Snelling, case in hand. Great! One might think this good news—an empathetic woman in charge—but nope. Grunt! For though this change has occurred perennially since First Creation, Mrs. Snelling has recently adopted the notion that Lady Wisdom, a.k.a. Soapy, has meddled too much in both Mr. Snelling’s and her own previous turns at crowing in the celestial roost. So she decides to exile Lady Wisdom. “Bad Form, extremely Bad Form,” her male counterpart warns as he changes signage to indicate that Mrs. Snelling will become the erstwhile proprietor of The House. Mrs. Snelling remains adamant, and she hatches a plot to kidnap Lady Wisdom (Soapy). “Bad Form, extremely Bad Form,” Mr. Snelling repeats, only to receive Mrs. Snelling’s cold glare.

Tom C. Powder, Mrs. Snelling’s favorite cat, will head the innovative Department of New Education, which will replace both Soapy and her changeling sister Alexandra, a.k.a. Pluck. Soapy’s uncle, that infamous whiskey-drinking, rhyme-making, belly-crawling snake, hatches a counter-plot to hide Soapy in... Tuscaloosa, Alabama, U. S. A., during football season. There, he’s convinced, no one will ever (ever!) dream of searching out Lady Wisdom. He enlists Billy Wise, a computer science geek working at the University in Tuscaloosa, who must travel to “The House” by jumping into a claw foot bathtub on his farm’s pond. There, with good luck and good friends, Billy and Soapy work with their allies Alexandra and Uncle Bogus to outwit Mrs. Snelling. But the cost might be too great for any of them.

An oral history of the legendary band Primus, with a star-studded cast of interviewees (Tom Waits, Phish front man Trey Anastasio, etc.)

"It's a wild ride that's vividly captured in Greg Prato's excellent oral history..." —Bass Player Magazine

Usually when the "alternative rock revolution" of the early 1990s is discussed, Nirvana's Nevermind is credited as the recording that led the charge. Yet there were several earlier albums that helped pave the way, including the Pixies's Doolittle, the Red Hot Chili Peppers's Mother's Milk, Jane's Addiction's Nothing's Shocking, and especially Primus's 1991 album Sailing the Seas of Cheese.

This fascinating and beautifully curated oral history tells the tale of this truly one-of-a-kind band. Compiled from nearly fifty all-new interviews conducted by journalist/author Greg Prato—including Primus members past and present and many more fellow musicians--this book is sure to appeal to longtime fans of the band, as well as admirers of the musicians interviewed for the book.

Interviewees include: Tim Alexander, Trey Anastasio (Phish), Matthew Bellamy (Muse), Les Claypool, Stewart Copeland (The Police), Chuck D (Public Enemy), Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Larry LaLonde, Geddy Lee (Rush), Mickey Melchiondo (Ween), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Matt Stone (South Park), Tom Waits, and many more.

Many American Christians have good intentions, working hard to welcome immigrants with hospitality and solidarity. But how can we do that in a way that empowers our immigrant neighbors rather than pushing them to the fringes of white dominant culture and keeping them as outsiders? That's exactly the question Karen González explores in Beyond Welcome.

A Guatemalan immigrant, González draws from the Bible and her own experiences to examine why the traditional approach to immigration ministries and activism can be at best incomplete and at worst harmful. By advocating for putting immigrants in the center of the conversation, González helps readers grow in discipleship and recognize themselves in their immigrant neighbors.

Accessible to any Christian who is called to serve immigrants, this book equips readers to take action to dismantle white supremacy and xenophobia in the church. They will emerge with new insight into our shared humanity and need for belonging and liberation.

Series: Liminal People (4)

In the final novel of the Liminals, a found family of Black superheroes has one last chance to save the world.

After traveling back in time to rescue his fostered daughter, Taggert has returned to the present and found himself in his favorite place: up against the wall. But the world they've returned to is not the one they left: everything is slightly grayer, the music is boring, joy is just out of reach. The liminals' entropic enemies, the Alters, are trying to bring about the end of the world by sucking the life--literally--out of enough people to tip the balance their way.

Traveling from Jamaica to London to Indonesia to the heart of the whirlwind in the desert at the heart of all deserts, Taggert and his found family of liminals and supporters have to find a way to bring back the joy before they're all ground down into the gray dust.

Advance Praise for Heroes of an Unknown World:

"A rollicking, irreverent action sci-fi filled with anime-esque feats, a deep appreciation for culture, and sparkling humanity. Jama-Everett's final book in the Liminal series is the kind of grandiose battle against despair I'll gladly sign up for. Put on your favorite record, crack this one open, and tell the darkness: 'Get out!'" — Elwin Cotman, author of Dance on Saturday

“Clarence Jordan spoke with an unwavering prophetic voice. He firmly rejected materialism, militarism, and racism as obstacles to authentic faith… He was a fearless and innovative defender of human rights.” —President Jimmy Carter

On 440 depleted acres in Sumter County, Georgia, a young Baptist preacher and farmer named Clarence Jordan gathered a few families and set out to show that Jesus intended more than spiritual fellowship. Like the first Christians, they would share their land, money, and possessions. Working together to rejuvenate the soil and the local economy, they would demonstrate racial and social justice with their lives.

Black and white community members eating together at the same table scandalized local Christians, drew the ire of the KKK, and led to drive-by shootings, a firebombing, and an economic boycott.

This bold experiment in nonviolence, economic justice, and sustainable agriculture was deeply rooted in Clarence Jordan’s understanding of the person and teachings of Jesus, which stood in stark contrast to the hypocrisy of churches that blessed wars, justified wealth disparity, and enforced racial segregation. “You can’t put Christianity into practice,” Jordan wrote, “You can’t make it work. As desperately as it is needed in this poor, broken world, it is not a philosophy of life to be ‘tried.’ Nor is it a social or ethical ideal which has tantalized humankind with the possibility of attainment. For Christianity is not a system you work – it is a Person who works you.”

This selection from his talks and writings introduces Clarence Jordan’s radically biblical vision to a new generation of peacemakers, community builders, and activists.

REVIEWS:

An excellent introduction to this significant man, who faced death threats and confrontations with the Ku Klux Klan. Jordan’s texts will challenge readers as they point to the radical nature of Christianity which, he argued, requires believers to live out their faith in ways that run counter to—and even confront—the society and culture around them. —Library Journal

Dallas Lee said of Clarence Jordan, “The promise of something wise or something fun or just something good to know danced in this man’s eyes.” That wisdom, that fun, that good dances in his words too. Every chapter of this book illustrates that. As a member of the koinonia Clarence cofounded, I’ll return to these pages as a guide, but anyone reading them can expect to be challenged and perhaps even changed. —Bren Dubay, director, Koinonia Farm

I can critique some of the things Clarence Jordan believed about the Bible, but I cannot critique the way he lived it. This collection of writings from a too-often-forgotten sage is a gift to all of us at a time when we need models of costly courage and conviction. —Russell Moore, Baptist preacher and theologian, Christianity Today

I'm impressed that this book isn't just about Clarence – it is Clarence. His clear insights and simple presentation make the gospel come to life. He once wrote, “What the poor need is not charity but capital, not caseworkers but coworkers. And what the rich need is a wise, honorable and just way of divesting themselves of their overabundance.” That insight gave birth to the affordable housing movement—surely the most far reaching of Clarence’s many gifts to the world. —David Snell, president & co-founder of The Fuller Center for Housing

In living a life of radical discipleship informed by the Sermon on the Mount (and paying the price for it), Clarence Jordan may be closest thing we have to an American Bonhoeffer. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a home where Jordan was read and admired, but too few today know of this Southern prophet. I’m heartened by the publication of The Inconvenient Gospel, to introduce a new generation of readers to Jordan’s unique and prophetic voice. —Brian Zahnd, author of When Everything’s on Fire

“Clarence Jordan spoke with an unwavering prophetic voice. He firmly rejected materialism, militarism, and racism as obstacles to authentic faith, yet he never took part in the public demonstrations of the civil rights era. He believed we could all affect greater change in this world through living an authentic Christian life.” —President Jimmy Carter

The distinctive mark of Jordan...is the way in which he acted in costly and dangerous ways that embodied the cross; he walked the talk! —Walter Brueggemann

Flannery O’Conner famously said that her native South was ‘Christ-haunted.’ But for Clarence Jordan, Jesus was more than a ghost. He was a living presence in the poor and rejected, inviting us into beloved community as a real and practical alternative to the plantation economy. Jordan’s words are as relevant today as when he delivered them. —Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove, author of Revolution of Values

Few have lived, spoken, and written with such power, depth, and simplicity about Christian discipleship as Clarence Jordan did. His life is a testimony and a provocation to what God’s love for the whole world demands of us today. The Inconvenient Gospel is an essential book. It will inspire and challenge those willing to take its message to heart. —Norman Wirzba, Duke Divinity School

We are lucky to have the legacy of such a man. For those of us who are hesitant to embrace Christ’s suffering, we have an example. For those of us who struggle as part of a young community of Christ to see our place in history, we have encouragement. His vision has endured. —Joyce Hollyday, author of Pillars of Fire

If, like me, you sometimes become distraught as you think of the work still needed to heal the church, you should read The Inconvenient Gospel. Reading the life and words of Clarence Jordan refreshed my soul like a morning rain, filling me with hope and inspiration to keep fighting for God’s perfected church where we are neither Jew nor Greek but all are one in Christ Jesus. The Inconvenient Gospel is a lightning-strike reminder for the family of God to stand firm against the racism that still plagues the body of Christ, by living out koinonia in our daily lives. —Anika T. Prather, Howard University

Here was a son of the Old South, a white Baptist minister doing what we were only talking about. I went to Koinonia to see it for myself and couldn't wait to leave because I was sure that the Klan would show up and kill us both. —Martin Luther King, Jr.

"The power of Clarence Jordan's words comes mostly from the fact that he lived out the Gospel rather than just preaching it, and he did that with courage and a sense of humor." —Don Mosley, founder, Jubilee Partners

Clarence Jordan has you saying “Amen” one minute and thinking “I’m not sure about that” the next. He guarantees thoughtful interaction with his practical application of the Bible, which clearly comes from tending a farm. If Christians embraced at least some of his ideas, we’d have a different effect on our world: less hypocrisy and more action. Jordan sharpens us to our great benefit; read him and think. —Joel Salatin, Polyface Farm

Clarence Jordan cultivated a demonstration plot of God’s kingdom at Koinonia Farm. Now, with The Inconvenient Gospel, we have field notes from that experiment. Wise and often witty, Jordan’s words are a call to join God’s mission, even on our home soil where loving our enemies and our neighbors may be the same thing. Whenever I need a reminder of what it means to follow Jesus, I’ll reach for this book. —Ragan Sutterfield, author of Wendell Berry and the Given Life

If God is calling women to lead, what's holding them back? Susan Harris Howell has spent years helping students investigate this question. In Buried Talents, she makes clear how gender disparity in leadership is directly connected to a larger, less overt issue: gendered socialization. Howell examines gendered messages people encounter inside and outside the church in each stage of life, showing how they often create misconceptions about who women are, what they're capable of, and how they fit into God's work. As these messages pull men toward leadership, they push women away from it.

God's call to leadership doesn't come in a vacuum. It comes to particular people who have, from childhood through adulthood, been shaped by subtle forms of socialization. Using social science research and interviews to explain these forces, Howell offers psychological and practical tools for both women and men to make more balanced vocational decisions. A discussion guide and suggested reading lists are also included to help readers engage and apply the content.

As opportunities for women continue to expand, too many still hold back in responding to God's call. Buried Talents provides compelling guidance for how we can remove obstacles that keep women from fully using their gifts.

On the Level cuts to the reality of living with disability. Fear and courage—and humor—make their appearance, along with family trauma, invasive examinations, constantly moving medical targets, and accessibility barriers. Without pulling any punches, Bryan R. Monte shows us that life and joy push through and beyond limitations, both self- and other-imposed.

"Bryan R. Monte transforms his body into a literary landscape. An arresting debut." — Jacob M. Appel, Who Says You're Dead?

"The extraordinary thing about this collection is its positivity. Not in a facile sense—these poems are unsparingly real, bringing readers as close as I dare imagine to the experience of MS in their own bodies as well as in the mind. But the grace of the writing, its tenderness and often humor, lifts us, as does its determination to look through sometimes harrowing details to wider perspectives, ones we can all use, simply being human, moving outwards and on." — Philip Gross, Between the Islands and The Water Table (T.S. Eliot Prize)

New Arcadia: Revolution is the fast-paced and funny second installment of the New Arcadia LitRPG series by Eric Jason Martin - which seamlessly blends the dystopian setting and nostalgic charm of Ready Player One with the sharp humor and complex world-building of Shirtaloon’s He Who Fights with Monsters.

Imagine being the goddess of love. Now imagine being forced to marry the god of fire. Especially when you prefer his brother…

Goddess of love here, but you can call me Aphrodite, AKA the most beautiful being in history. So of course I was delighted when Zeus married me to the ugliest Olympian. The god of fire is nothing to look at and the permanent wound to his left leg hardly helps.

Adding insult to injury, this marriage is meant to be a punishment. Not to me, but to him! If only Zeus had hitched me to Ares instead. The god of war doesn’t have much upstairs, but there are compensations. Need I say more? And if my husband wants to spend all day at the forge, then he has only himself to blame…

Anyway, this book is the life and times of my other half, Hephaestus. So I’m portrayed in a less than flattering light. Expect to read all about the quest to find his father, how he created Pandora and some sort of receptacle (such a bad idea), and his not-so-secret affair with someone who couldn’t hold a candle to me. Oh, and he has mother issues like you wouldn’t believe!

If you enjoyed Mythos, Song of Achilles, Circe and Pandora’s Jar, then I suppose God of Fire will be right up your alley. But remember, you’re only hearing his side of the story.

Thatch has a terrible thirst, an ever expanding waistline, a dog and an estranged wife. And a heart condition. And now an unsolved crime on his doorstep too. And with not much else for the retired detective to do other than stroll to the pub or potter about in the garden, this is a good thing.

Probably.

Yes, granted, there is a dodgy dot com millionaire and a Ukrainian drug lord in the mix, but nothing that a bit of old fashioned policing can't sort.

What could possibly go wrong.

Behind the curtain, she must put on the performance of a lifetime... while love and risk take center stage.

Delia Vittoria's mother has lost her voice at last. After five years of being her diva mother's understudy, it is time for Delia to assume her place as the lead soprano onstage behind the Academy of Music's faded velvet curtain. And she is all that stands between the Academy and its greatest threat--the nouveaux riches' lavish new Metropolitan Opera House.

Kit Quincy never misses opening night, but when his sister begs him to help get her husband out of an Italian opera star's arms, Kit accidentally confronts the younger Lady Vittoria instead. When he meets the stunning young diva again, he attempts to make amends, but then finds himself pulled into a society matron's plot to win the great opera war. To draw attention to Delia Vittoria as the Academy's new soprano star, Kit is convinced to act as both Delia's patron and the enigmatic phantom who once haunted the Academy years ago. But when a second phantom appears, more than Delia's rising career is threatened.

"His Delightful Lady Delia is full of yearning and humor and just the right touch of old-fashioned Victorian melodrama."—SARAH SUNDIN, bestselling author of Until the Leaves Fall in Paris

Series: Systema Paradoxa (8)

There are creatures lurking in our world. Obscure creatures long relegated to myth and legend. They have been sighted by a lucky-or unlucky-few, some have even been photographed, but their existence remains unproven and unrecognized by the scientific community.

These creatures, long thought gone, have somehow survived; creatures from our nightmares haunting the dark places. They swim in our lakes and bays, they soar the night skies, they hunt in the woods. Some are from our past, and some from other worlds, and others have always been with us-watching us, fearing us, hunting us.

These are the cryptids, and Systema Paradoxa tells their tales.

Same ol' Syn, all new mischief...

Just when Theodore Syn starts thinking about sinking roots, the military comes calling, needing a man with his... unique qualifications to deal with a need-to-know problem that's cropped up in the Chesapeake Bay.

Something is out there, frightening fish and fishermen alike.

But that's not the real problem. Someone is masquerading as a military official on American soil, and with war on the horizon, steps need to be taken to safeguard the East Coast, before the Axis Powers drive a U-boat--or something more unexpected--right up the mouth of the Bay.

One is blessed, the other cursed. Neither is entirely sure which is which.

Lux was a warrior, a brilliant fighter who seemed stronger than humanly possible. Now, he’s locked away from the sunlight, his memories gnawing themselves to the bone, the scent of blood ever in his nostrils.

Illiaz is his jailor, a breathtakingly beautiful creature who seems too delicate to live. His hold on Lux is fragile as gossamer and stronger than the scent of blood ever on his breath.

It might almost be friendship.

From learning to make fire and using the stars as guides to cooking meals in microwaves and landing on the moon, prepare to uncover the secrets and superpowers of how we evolved from our first appearances millions of years ago.

Acclaimed author Yuval Noah Harari has expertly crafted an extraordinary story of how humans learned to not only survive but also thrive on Earth, complete with maps, a timeline, and full-color illustrations that bring his dynamic, unputdownable writing to life.

Be as smart as Sherlock Holmes!

Arthur Conan Doyle's original tales include many references to everyday Victorian life that are lost from modern society. What Holmes would have eaten from can while searching for the hound of the Baskervilles, or Watson's enjoyment of a yellow-back novel, or the proper use of a gasogene would have been common knowledge to the Victorian contemporary, but has current readers running to their reference books.

These twenty-four short essays pull such items from the past and expand on their significance in the story. As an additional bonus, this book contains an essay on the role of scandal in Holmes' cases, originally appearing in a collected volume of essays on feminism and agency.

"Prepare to be enlightened and entertained!" —bestselling author Carole Nelson Douglas

The latest novel from critically acclaimed Southern storyteller Scott Gould, The Hammerhead Chronicles explores the effects of grief, racism, homophobia, revenge, love, and loss on an oddball cast of contemporary characters in a small, fictitious South Carolina town... oh, and it's funny.

On the day Claude slaps down a credit card for an expensive racing bicycle, his soon-to-be-ex-wife passes away. As Claude begins a quest to pedal away from his marriage and his grief, we encounter the Southern eccentrics that orbit his world: his overly independent, rebellious teenage daughter; his foul-mouthed sister-in-law who deftly stalks her husband's mistress; twin, gay bookstore owners who serve the profitable underground Confederacy market out of their "special" back room; the math professor possessing an attic full of rats and a penchant for revenge; a skinny bartender-named for a Marine base-who preaches a suck-it-up philosophy; and Claude's recently deceased wife, observing it all from the Great Beyond, where she is annoyed by the lack of decent weather and by the troubled, tangled lives she left behind.

This ensemble of quirky, narrative voices dovetail for a fast-moving, comic story of longing and redemption, while flipping a number of Southern clichés on their ears.

A dying friend, a terrible bargain, an underwater quest, and dangerous magic... this thrilling adventure picks up right where Children of the Fox leaves off. Fans of twisty, clever stories like The False Prince and Ocean's Eleven will love this newest middle-grade series from Kevin Sands, author of the bestselling Blackthorn Key.

Rule number one: Never mess with magic. Even so, a life-or-death situation calls for Callan and his criminal friends to make a deal with the Eye—the sinister, sentient artifact they stole from a sorcerer. It's Lachlan's life in exchange for a future task, and the gang has no choice but to agree.

But even as Lachlan is resurrected, it's not without cost. Through the Eye, Callan can see a tiny purple stain inside Lachlan's soul, which will eventually consume him. The cure—and their part of the deal—lies with the Dragon's Teeth, a pair of swords with extraordinary powers, and the search for them leads the thieves on a quest that will unravel the mystery of the Eye. Old friends, new betrayals, and an even more daring break-in than the last culminate in a confrontation that will take all the gang's skill and power to resist—or they'll die trying.

These stories will grab your attention until the end of each tale. The characters may be different, but at some point, their lives cross into a parallel world.

The twists and turns of fate guide the reader into a world of ghosts and goblins, where murderers lie in wait for the unsuspecting. You’ll never know what’s to come, and that’s just how the author likes it.

There’s coach trippers, who die one by one – by why and by whose hand?

A killer strikes at a Harry Potter exhibition in Oxford: Druids challenge Druids, and the Green Man himself appears in their midst: a group of friends die in horrific circumstances, and a toy figure is always found lying by the victim – perhaps the names Scarlet, Mustard, Plum seem familiar: a ventriloquist’s dummy is not at all what he seems and a dead and buried girl just won’t die, until she catches her murderer.

Of course, there’s normal people too, who bring humour and pathos into the tales – well, there’d have to be, wouldn’t there, or you’d never believe what you’re reading or hearing! It’s all part of the magic of mystery – and you’re the magician, who gets to unlocks it.

If You Consider Time the Most Precious Asset in Your Life and Therefore Want to Read the Essentials of a Book Presented in a Clear and Concise Summary Without Missing Any Highlights of the Original Book, Then Read On…

Note to readers: This is a summary of Jessie Inchauspé’s book The Glucose Revolution and not the original book designed to enhance your reading experience!

About This Summary!

Our dietary choices are heavily influenced by the messages of the processed food industry. When it comes to food, we have been taught many falsehoods, such as the number of calories is most important, we shouldn’t skip breakfast, we need sugar for energy, and it’s normal to feel sleepy in the afternoon. All these messages about food hurt our physical and mental health.

Modern science has revealed a lot about how our bodies react to the food we eat in real-time. And science has shown us that there is one metric that affects all systems: the amount of glucose in our blood.

Glucose is our body’s energy source. Its concentrations in our blood vary greatly throughout the day. When there is a high concentration of glucose in your blood, that’s a glucose spike. These spikes affect everything in our lives from our mood to our appearance and physical health.

Advancements in science have given us insights into our bodies, allowing us to take control. This summary will give you sound scientific advice on how to truly master your glucose and health.

Why You Should Choose Book Summary Publishing!

Book Summary Publishing offers an in-depth look into the book by Jessie Inchauspé, The Glucose Revolution. Watson Falls: A Small Town with a Deadly SecretQuick Look
Digital audiobook

Mack Peters enjoys the good life now, but it always wasn’t that way. Twelve years before, tragedy struck on a lovely Sunday morning, as Mack and his father, Beverly Hills Police Chief Bill Watson, finished their breakfast on the patio of a Beverly Hills restaurant. At the time, Mack was a member of the LAPD. In his quest for peace of mind, he resigned from the LAPD and backpacked through Europe for an extended time.

After Mack returned to the States, the former LA cop struck it rich when he came up with an ingenuous idea that gave him a lot of free time and produced millions of dollars. If asked what he does for a living, he says with a smile, “I go to my mailbox and collect checks.”

With a thriving business that practically runs itself, he has the luxury of being able to take off on trips when the spirit moves him. His friends Marcie and Kurt Conklin suggested that he visit a quaint town in Washington State called Leavenworth, and it wasn’t hard to persuade him. But they had an ulterior motive—a motive that resulted him agreeing to help one of their friends track down her missing sister. That led him to the remote small town of Watson Falls and a situation and people more deadly than he could have ever imagined.

In 1974, the US East Coast was whipped up into a frenzy of fear. Locking their windows and doors, everyone was terrified of becoming the next victim of the strikingly handsome but deadly “Casanova Killer”. And he was on the move.

After being released from jail and promptly abandoned by his fiancée, Paul John Knowles embarked on a spate of gruesome murders on a road trip up the Pacific Coast.

No room for fear, no room for guilt, just the road.

As the man-hunt gathered pace, the cold-blooded killing spree continued to defy detectives. With no visible pattern in the age, race nor gender of the victims, Knowle’s joyride of kidnap, rape and murder tore across multiple state borders. It became a race of tragically high stakes. How many more lives would be lost before the police finally caught up?

Robert wakes up on the Welsh side of the Severn Bridge with no memory of who he is or how he got there. Determined to reclaim his identity, he embarks on an odyssey through the country of Wales, bearing witness to the stories both the people and the land itself feel moved to tell him. Every new tale brings him one step closer to learning the truth about himself.

John Llewellyn Probert has written a gripping romp of a book, a portmanteau novel steeped in the myths and secret tales of his native Wales. A deeply unending compendium of the sinister that draws the reader inexorably forward, as we share in Robert's quest to discover the truth, wherever that may lead.

The novel features an introduction by master of horror Ramsey Campbell and several internal illustrations by cover artist Elena Betti.

“Well done to it and its author! He brings a feast of wonders and horrors and I’m just the greeter at the door. Welcome and be seated, if you aren’t already. Here comes the first course, and before long you’ll be replete with imagination.” – Ramsey Campbell in his introduction.

A stand-alone tale of epic steampunk excitement squeezed within the covers of a novella. A highly original story that pays homage to Jules Verne and H.G. Wells along the way.

As an Oneironaut and agent of the Fellowship, January Purcell is used to danger and thinking on her feet, having faced threats up and down the timeline and in various realities; all part of the Great and Long Game. Nothing, however, could have prepared her for the extremes demanded by this latest mission, which sees her accompany Dr Robert Jones and his colleagues on a journey from the heart of Victorian London to Iceland, following in the footsteps of Professor Lidenbrock and the alchemist Arne Saknussemm.

Denied the support of her colleagues at London’s Oneiros Club due to her gender, January must rely on her own resources as she descends into the extinct volcano Snæfellsjökull, little imagining what she will encounter there, little realising that this is all merely a prelude to a long-planned invasion from Earth’s near neighbour, Mars…

“Here’s such a rich confection of our favourite persons and places, from Jules Verne’s volcano in Iceland and the subterranean Vril race to Wells’s Martian invaders and even scheming Moriarty—along with revelations about reality and about more-than-reality (such as The House, and The Existing). Need I mention that there are also shared lucid dreams? No spoilers could spoil the frantic fun of this sprightly riff. It’s stimulating, tremendous stuff.” – Ian Watson, author of the Screen Story for Steven Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence

Jackie Stories 1: A Boarding School FriendQuick Look
Digital audiobook

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Nancy Tuckerman were friends over seven decades.

Nancy almost never talked to people writing books about Jackie. She made an exception for me because I was working with her former colleagues. She and I met for the first time at the Red Lion Inn on a cold day in February. She was wearing a plain brown sweater and hiding behind a newspaper. At first she was stiff with me. But at lunch the young waiter poured her a cold cup of coffee. When he stepped away, we both laughed. That was how we began a friendlier and franker conversation that lasted 10 years.

This is a revised and expanded version of my article, "Inside Jackie O's Longest, Most Complicated Friendship" in Vanity Fair, July 2019. Nancy's insights about Jackie are in every minute, but this is also the story of Nancy Tuckerman herself. As I'm telling the story, it's sometimes about me too.

My nightmares were once described to me as a “mind cleansing”. The diagnosis wasn’t the most eloquent, my mind was just a hazardous waste bin after all, but from that razor-edge description burst forth the fourteen tales contained here-in.

They explore, in all its twisted glory, a dissection of a brain that cannot stop thinking; the adaptations of whatever horrendous fever-dream my mind plagues me with. My pen is not mightier than a sword, it is just an extension of a scourge veering towards a world-shattering apocalypse.

Enjoy.

If You Consider Time the Most Precious Asset in Your Life and Therefore Want to Read the Essentials of a Book Presented in a Clear and Concise Summary Without Missing Any Highlights of the Original Book, Then Read On…

Note to readers: This is a summary of Marisa G. Franco’s book Platonic: How the Science of Attachment can Help You Make and Keep Friends and not the original book designed to enhance your reading experience!

About This Summary!

In her latest book Platonic: How the Science of Attachment can Help You Make and Keep Friends, Marisa G. Franco analyzes how to make and keep friends in an era of distraction, burnout, and chaos, especially in a society that often prizes romantic love at the expense of other relationships. In Platonic, Dr. Marisa G. Franco unpacks the latest, often counterintuitive findings about the bonds between us—for example, why your friends aren’t texting you back (it’s not because they hate you!), and the myth of “friendships happening organically” (making friends, like cultivating any relationship, requires effort!). As Dr. Franco explains, to make and keep friends you must understand your attachment style—secure, anxious, or avoidant: it is the key to unlocking what’s working (and what’s failing) in your friendships.

Making new friends, and deepening longstanding relationships, is possible at any age—in fact, it’s essential. The good news: there are specific, research-based ways to improve the number and quality of your connections using the insights of attachment theory and the latest scientific research on friendship. Platonic provides a clear and actionable blueprint for forging strong, lasting connections with others—and for becoming our happiest, most fulfilled selves in the process.

Why You Should Choose Book Summary Publishing!

Book Summary Publishing offers an in-depth look into the book by Marisa G. Franco, Platonic: How the Science of Attachment can Help You Make and Keep Friends. This summary book breaks down all the key points, takeaways, and facts in Platonic so that the reader gets an overview quickly of the most relevant insights of the original book.

Series: Outlaws (2)

Heist rule number two? Never fall for a lone wolf.

A blast from Tuck’s circus past draws Tuck and the charming lone-wolf hacker, Leo, into a dizzying web of passion, secrets, and betrayal.

When the circus comes calling, Tuck is helpless to the lure, and this time, his old troupe’s in trouble. Their attempt to leave Reynauld Industries ended with a hit on them, courtesy of the deadly mercenary group, the Stockyard. Tuck can’t sit idly by, and as the resident stealth operator for the Outlaws, he’s in a unique position to help.

Leo’s a lone wolf hacker, and no amount of his best friend’s pleading, Tuck’s flirty smiles, or interesting jobs will sway him into working with the Outlaws. At least, until they land this one. After growing up in the hellish Stockyard, he’s wanted to take them down for years, and this is the Holy Grail of opportunities. Only problem? The Outlaws can never know about his history with them.

When Leo and Tuck start working together, a chemistry emerges that neither of them can deny. Leo’s mantra of “one and done” falters the moment Tuck shows him a care and steadfastness he’s never experienced before, and the more time they spend with each other, the more he doesn’t want to give up the first man he’s started to fall for. However, if the Outlaws discover his past or the Stockyard finds him first, Leo will end up one of the bloated corpses they’ve left lining the Chicago River.

Series: The Vandals (1)

The Asding Vandals were an insignificant Germanic tribe with an undistinguished military record who lost most of their battles. How this small tribe survived a great migration from modern day Hungary to Africa, and then go on to rule a Mediterranean kingdom so powerful it could sack Rome, is an incredible story. Many books and films cover the fall of the Western Roman Empire in the fifth century, but few mention the key contribution of the Vandals. Yet if one man can be held responsible for the fall of Rome then the Vandal King Gaeseric would be the choice of many historians.

This series tells the story of the Vandal migration linking the few known historical events with plausible explanations of how those events could have taken place. This chaotic period featured a confusing number of different tribes and constantly fluctuating allegiances but let the narrator, a half-brother of the Vandal king, guide you through this unbelievable story. By the end you will agree that Gaeseric, King of the Vandals and Alans, deserves to be recognised as one of the great heroes of antiquity.

Jackie Stories 2-3: A Rival at Work & A Waspish NovelistQuick Look
Digital audiobook

For many people, Jackie was beyond criticism. People who came from her own background, however, were often more detached. They could be more forceful with her and sometimes more openly critical of her than others were.

Nan Talese was one of the most important people in American publishing at the end of the 20th century. Nan and Jackie both grew up as bookish debutantes in and around New York. When Nan and Jackie worked at the same publisher in the 1990s, a muted rivalry arose between them.

Louis Auchincloss was a novelist of Manhattan's elite. He was also a distant relation of Jackie's by marriage. They'd known each other since they were young. When he came to write books which Jackie edited, she discovered he could be more difficult than her other authors. He did what few others did. He told her the truth, though Auchincloss' honesty could also be malicious.

Photographs accentuate her style and flair, but it's Jackie's struggles with social equals that reveal the hidden, human dimensions of the world's most famous woman.

Reed's aggressive brother-in-law Lewis insists Kate ran off with the guitarist in her band. Though Reed is certain Kate, who'd finally got up the courage to leave a bad marriage, has come to harm at the hands of her violent, unfaithful husband, Lewis is well-connected, and Reed cannot get the police to act. Not on his own.

An awkward loner, incapable in social situations, Reed knows no one in this foreign country of his birth. Blocked at every turn, how will he get the help he needs? How long will it take to find out what happened to Kate?

This is Book 2 in the Ffrynt Trilogy, but can be read as a standalone.

Genevieve grew up knowing two things. One: she was the long prophesied savior of earth in the coming battle with the Shinar. Two: she and her Nephilim, Harith, belong together. Problem is: she can’t get “Harry” to claim her, the woman he’s been waiting on for seven thousand years, much less convince a life-consuming god-like race as old as the universe itself to give up their claim to earth - as a meal.

Graphic, gritty, bloodthirsty, steamy, and uniquely original, The Witchbound Saga is unlike any other horror/paranormal romance series you’ve ever read and is recommended for mature readers.

This is the sixth and final book in the Witchbound novels. These books may be read independently.

Series: Song of the Druids (1)

Nineteen-year-old Alyosha Kamenev has lived in Isle Meridian off the coast of South Carolina since he was eight years old. Having fled as a refugee from his home country of Enriya after an invasion by neighboring Russia, he eventually learns to call a life in the tropics his own. Despite having the bright white hair of his people, Alyosha integrates fully into the culture of the Meridians, even moving in with his best friend, Loren Merrik, and his family during their middle school years.

When infidelity rattles the dynamic of the Merrik family and sends them down divergent paths from one another, Alyosha finds himself suffering from instability once again. Matters are complicated further when he has a lethal encounter with Loren's uncle, Maiser Vance, which may or may not be responsible for a sharp decline in his health.

Now lonely and sick, Alyosha attempts the irrational to resolve the effects of the illness by pursuing the only clue left behind by Maiser -- a single piece of paper written in a dead language of the Celtic Druids, and Isle Meridian's sister island, All Saints Island, where the Druids have lived in isolation for over two centuries.

Have you come to the Internet with dreams of making it rich? If you have, prepare to be disappointed. The truth is that most people never make any money online.

Why is that?

For a lot of people, it's a lack of discipline, a lack of belief in themselves, and they've been led to believe that people online love nothing more than spending their money stupidly. - It's not the case. People online are the same as people offline. They want value from their purchases.

In Selling Yourself Barry J. McDonald takes you on a journey through the mental side of making money online, how to believe in yourself, how to look at what you do with fresh eyes so you never have a problem asking for what you're worth instead of giving everything away for pennies and much, much more.

A French Huguenot apothecary's legacy of secrets, a mystic healer's inspiration, a fateful decision.

IN THE MYSTERIOUS CÉVENNES MOUNTAINS OF LANGUEDOC, FRANCE, 1695, Jehan BonDurant, a young nobleman forcibly held in a Dominican prieuré as a child, comes of age only to inherit a near-derelict estate and his Huguenot family's dangerous legacy of secrets. While he cherishes his newfound freedom apprenticing as an apothecary, his outrage mounts over religious persecutions led by King Louis XIV's Intendant Basville, who is sent to enforce the King's will for "One King, One Law, One Faith".

The ensuing divisions among families and friends and the gradual revelation of his own circumstances lead Jehan to question his spiritual choices. A journey, deep into the heart of the Cevennes in search of guidance, unfolds in a way he least expects when he enters the enchanting Gorges du Tarn. There, he discovers his muse, Amelia Auvrey, a free-spirited, mystic holy woman who reveals ancient healing practices and spiritual mysteries. Together they quest for peace and spiritual freedom by aiding the persecuted until the Intendant's spy reports their activities and the King's dragoons are sent out after them. To retain their freedom, they must choose to live in hiding in a remote wilderness, join a festering uprising against the persecutions, or flee their cherished homeland with thousands of other refugees in search of hope.

Inspired by the true story of Jean Pierre Bondurant dit Cougoussac, distilled and blended with Cévenole magic lore, this is a vividly told coming-of-age adventure and family saga of courage, tenacity, and the power of love. Fans of Poldark, Magic Lessons, The Lost Apothecary, The Huguenot Chronicles, and The Alchemist will find thematic elements from those stories melded into this thrilling and obscure slice of French history.

Brilliantly told, it’s a story that will stick with you long after you’ve turned the last page.” ~ Janet Wertman, award-winning author of the Seymour Saga trilogy.

"Jules Larimore's lush, vibrant prose and sharp eye for historical detail at once transported me back to Occitan haunts and castles. This is a must-read for anyone who loves novels set in that alluring region of southern France." ~ Glen Craney, award-winning author of The Fire and the Light, The Spider and the Stone, and more.

This story will capture you and not let go. History and deftly-crafted storytelling rolled into one.” ~ Rozsa Gaston, author of the award-winning four-book Anne of Brittany Series.

This story starts with a girl, not any normal girl. Or maybe she was normal just as you and I are but she certainly believed she was anything but. The girls' beauty was obvious from her sleek jet black hair to her striking Christmas tree eyes. Yet she saw her beauty more like an object or a tool, something to help her get ahead in her escapades.

If You Consider Time the Most Precious Asset in Your Life and Therefore Want to Read the Essentials of a Book Presented in a Clear and Concise Summary Without Missing Any Highlights of the Original Book, Then Read On…

Note to readers: This is a summary of Alex Jones’ book The Great Reset: And The War For The World and not the original book designed to enhance your reading experience!

About This Summary!

In The Great Reset: And the War for the World, Alex Jones gives you a full analysis of The Great Reset, the global elite's international conspiracy to enslave humanity and all life on the planet.

If you really want to know what’s happening in the world, you have to be aware of what’s going on behind the scenes. Alex Jones is the most censored man on the planet and you should ask yourself why that is. There is a powerful authoritarian takeover in the process that is seeking to capture the entire human system and turn it into an artificial factory farm-controlled system. We are in a war for the future of the world. In this book, you will hear from the world’s elites, from their own mouths, what they are planning for you and your families and you will learn what you can do to fight it.

From central bankers, corporate billionaires, and corrupted government officials, global elites have been organizing a historic war on humanity under a trans-humanist, scientific dictatorship. Alex Jones was the first major figure to expose the World Economic Forum’s agenda. He has dedicated the last 30 years of his life to studying The Great Reset, conducting tens of thousands of interviews with top-level scientists, politicians, and military officials in order to reverse engineer their secrets and help awaken humanity.

If you read one book in a lifetime, it should be The Great Reset: And the War for the World. You will discover from the self-appointed controllers of the planet in their own words, their plan for what they call the final revolution, or The Great Reset.

KARMA IS A BITCH

Lassiter King learned that the hard way. Found dead in his home, the noted cardiologist was in the midst of a media firestorm after being outed as the hunter responsible for killing Achilles, a beloved lion living on a protected preserve. The doctor used a bow and arrow to make the kill, and now someone has returned the favor using the same type of weaponry. But is it lethal cosmic payback that played a factor in his death? Or simply coincidence? It’s Detective Nick Cross’ job to find out.

As the twelve-year veteran begins the arduous task of tracking down a murderer, he discovers that Lassiter was good at making enemies, and that there is a roster of people who have solid motives for wanting the medical professional dead. A gardener who was fired, an animal rights activist who owned the sanctuary where Achilles was shot, and the brother of a patient who died from the victim’s medical incompetence top the list. But a little more digging dredges up two more possible suspects … suspects that hit closer to home. The first is Lassiter’s wife. The prototype of a gold digger and one of the most unlikable people on the planet, her ego alone might account for her not wanting to share the spotlight with her spouse. The second is Lassiter King’s son. The eighteen-year-old undoubtedly has the most to gain … and lose. About to be cut out of his father’s will, he is also suspected of exposing his father as the one who engaged in poaching. Add in a rocky and sometimes volatile relationship with Lassiter, and he rises to the top of the suspect list as the one most likely to have committed the crime. But in Cross’ world, suspicion is never enough, and so he scrambles to uncover the evidence that will either convict or exonerate the culprit.

The sixth in the very popular Nick Cross Mysteries, Trophy is a suspense-filled excursion into the dark world of murder. If you love mysteries, you’ll love Nick Cross. So consider this your invitation to sleuth along with your new favorite detective. Who will figure out the clues first? There’s only one way to find out, and the clock starts now!

If You Consider Time the Most Precious Asset in Your Life and Therefore Want to Read the Essentials of a Book Presented in a Clear and Concise Summary Without Missing Any Highlights of the Original Book, Then Read On…

Note to readers: This is a summary of Pete Hegseth’s book Battle for the American Mind: Uprooting a Century of Miseducation and not the original book designed to enhance your reading experience!

About This Summary!

The book Battle for the American Mind is the untold story of the Progressive plan to neutralize the basis of our Republic – by removing the one ingredient that had sustained Western Civilization for thousands of years. Pete Hegseth and David Goodwin explain why, no matter what political skirmishes conservatives win, progressives are winning the war—and control the “supply lines” of future citizens. Reversing this reality will require parents to radically reorient their children’s education; even most homeschooling and Christian schooling are infused with progressive assumptions. We need to recover a lost philosophy of education – grounded in virtue and excellence – that can arm future generations to fight for freedom. It’s called classical Christian education. The odds are that you might have never heard about it. In this case: Relax, you’re not alone!

Why You Should Choose Book Summary Publishing!

Book Summary Publishing offers an in-depth look into the book by Pete Hegseth, Battle for the American Mind. This summary book breaks down all the key points, takeaways, and facts in Battle for the American Mind so that the reader gets an overview quickly of the most relevant insights of the original book.

This way, you will learn the key points, takeaways, and lessons to enhance your knowledge and start discussions without missing any highlights of the original book – PROMISED!

One week ago, Jane had come to a cabin in the woods with her uncle for winter vacation. Today, though, her uncle was out and hadn’t come back for hours. It was just Jane, left alone by herself in the little cabin. It had snowed heavily most of the time she was there so she couldn’t go out, but after a while, the snow had thawed and the weather was warm and bright - warm enough for her to go outside again if she wanted to. She stared out at the grey sky from the cabin’s cramped window. The past week had just been boring, with her reading for school and not getting any texts from her friends.

Series: The Cynnahu Saga (1)

The people of the Archipelago of Cynnahu are used to war. Aeons ago their ancestors conquered the old continent, wresting it from the native Dragonkin whom they wiped out in a land-shattered conflict. Then, five hundred years later, new invaders arrived from the unknown south, the mireborn Naga, the snake-folk of Nag Isle who the Cynnahu folk have been ceaselessly fighting in the millennia since. But nothing prepared then for what was about to happen. A time foretold by an ancient Seer and Archmage speaks of a time when the Archipelago must fight its Last War against the Naga, a time when five heroes – Traveler, Orphan, Survivor, Student, and Lord – will set sail to rediscover the secret of the Elder Song.

Only they are not heroes. They are Myrriden, the footsore mage and single father; Sakura, an orphaned and homeless girl seeking vengeance; Volcan Darkrod, the enigmatic Fire Mage; Emrys, Myrriden’s nervous son; and Archmage Hoth, the unflappable Leader of the Cynnahu folk.

Guided by an ancient riddle recently uncovered by the famed Loremaster Aneirin, these chosen five must a run a race of swords, spells, and dusty scrolls – for while the Elder Song was crafted to summon the primeval power of the Dragonkin to save the Isles, it has, down to its very name, been forgotten. Will the courage and wits of two eleven-year-olds and three vastly different mages be enough to free purposefully hidden secrets from forces older than the Isles themselves and reunite the scattered Song while fighting a desperate war on land and sea? Only two things are certain: where swords fail scrolls may prevail, and that humanity stands at doom’s edge and time is against them.

Conversations Across America is about a father-son journey of a lifetime: a 73-day, 4,600-mile cross-country bike trip Kari took in 2015 with his 75-year-old dad, Merv, who had early-stage Alzheimer’s. Their adventure reminds us of the power of perseverance and adaptability in the face of uncertainty. It’s also a heartwarming example of listening and discovery, including 300 short conversations with people who approached them along the way, providing a rich snapshot of America, especially rural America.

Conversations is a mix of Blue Highways, Tuesdays with Morrie, and Humans of New York… on a bike. As you read, you can’t help but reflect on your relationship with your own father and children, while gaining perspective on Alzheimer’s—which now afflicts more than six million Americans—and getting a sense of the TransAmerica Bike Trail and America itself. Above all, you will be inspired to seize-the-day with someone you love—whatever that means to you.

Series: Baron & Eddie (1)

Told in four inter-connecting narratives from the mid 50s through the early aughts, The Chaos Agents explores the impact and implosion of Saffron, a mid-century musical phenom lead by Baron Templeton & Edmund Hammond - whose breakup is the stuff of legends.

From a small British town in the 50s, to young brothers struggling with the grit of NYC in the 70s, to two camp counselors falling in love to a backdrop of 90s rock, to a secluded cabin in the early aughts where the offspring of Edmund Hammond finds himself blocked, each decade gets closer to the shocking revelations of how they're all connected - and whether they can ever be unbound.

In The Chaos Agents, F. Fox North has written a queer, fictional Behind the Music for readers who enjoyed Daisy Jones and the Six, A Visit from the Goon Squad, or even The Ground Beneath Her Feet.

If You Consider Time the Most Precious Asset in Your Life and Therefore Want to Read the Essentials of a Book Presented in a Clear and Concise Summary Without Missing Any Highlights of the Original Book, Then Read On…

Note to readers: This is a summary of Ira Shapiro’s book The Betrayal: How Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans Abandoned America and not the original book designed to enhance your reading experience!

About This Summary!

The Betrayal: How Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans Abandoned America written by Ira Shapiro is the story of how the Republican senator Mitch McConnell led the Senate to stand by and watch as Donald Trump was creating chaos across America. Through the Senate, he continued to obstruct attempts by the Obama administration and Biden administration to provide relief to Americans.

Ira Shapiro explains to the reader that the role of the Senate is to provide counsel and guidance to the president and to be a protector of democracy if the president threatens it. Instead of being the institution that makes sure that the president puts the country first, Republican members of the Senate put their political agendas first, completely ignoring the interests of Americans.

With each chapter, Ira Shapiro provides a detailed account of how the Senate tried to reverse Obamacare, created the environment for Donald Trump to act as a dictator by acquitting him from both impeachment trials without censuring him, blocking relief packages for COVID-19 and encouraging the Trump supporters to attack the Capitol by rejecting the 2020 election results.

The Betrayal: How Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans Abandoned America will provide students, political analysts, and any citizen interested in learning about how the Senate failed the American people between the period from January 2017 to February 2021.

What happens when home, the place where they have to take you in, no longer exists?

Leonora has come to England for love, but when her relationship fails and her father won't let her return home, she finds herself having to take a position as mother's help to the creepy Dr Nye and her husband Dr Duncan.

A horror novella based on the author's experience as a mixed race slave in London, subconsciously inspired by Flavia Richardson's Behind the Yellow Door. Exaggerated, as fact turned into fiction is; but not all of it.

Did you know that being in a prolonged state of tension may lead to panic attacks and seizures?

This is the extreme end of stress and anxiety (burnout), and you do not want to find yourself there. Whether you are getting agitated when things don't go according to plan, staying angry with someone who upsets you, or panicking about everything you did or did not do during the day, you are putting your physical and mental health at risk. Furthermore, it could affect your relationships without you realizing it.

I wrote my book to help sufferers of burnout get relief. This book is well-researched, includes processes, highlights personal stories, and brings in humor to lighten the moment. Since the pandemic, burnout has increased and will continue to do so with more people working from home.

Some people are better able to cope in stressful situations, while others aren't. The good news is that anyone can learn and apply strategies to overcome burnout. The trick is to put the processes into practice, again and again. My book is written with this in mind. Enjoy!

After Theresa Cole finds out she’s pregnant with a child likely to be born with a genetic abnormality, an infant she and her husband Charlie had eagerly anticipated, she considers having an abortion. When she subsequently disappears from her family's Minnesota farm, her sister Annie tries to figure out why. No one else seems concerned at first, except Charlie, who's stationed in Afghanistan, and Charlie’s father, Woodrow, who drives an eyebrow-raising pickup all the way from Alabama to search for his son’s missing wife. Claire, another sister, becomes alarmed too and agrees to help. But Theresa’s mother Maureen, a deeply religious woman, takes a stand against them, determined to save Theresa and her baby both, no matter the costs to herself or anyone else.

Theresa et al. surveys America’s battlefield on abortion from many points of view, exploring how a woman’s choices—or lack thereof—pierce the fabric of family life, impacting not only those closest to her, but spreading out in tremors that have a ripple effect on the communities that surround her.

The Wes Goodwin Show was a comedic hit in the 1950s. All across the country, families tuned in weekly to find out what wholesome mischief Kathryn Anderson as Paula, on-screen wife of Wes Goodwin, would get into with her quirky and single neighbor Kay, played by Alice Kincaid. But life off-screen, out of the spotlight and away from the adoring public, was far from wholesome.

When The Wes Goodwin Show becomes one of the top syndicated programs of 1981, The Holly Singer Show wants to capitalize on the moment with a live cast reunion.

Now a fallen starlet from the golden years, Kathryn has been making art house pictures in Germany with her second husband. When news about the reunion comes in, she finds herself wasted on a plane headed for Los Angeles. Is she strong enough to deal with what she did after all these years?

When Alice receives a call from her agent about the reunion, she nearly passes out in front of her concerned and confused son. She owes the television series her name in the business, but how can she face her past in the flesh?

Trumpism plunged America into a divisive Loveless Age. Marriage fell to a 118-year low, singleton became the new normal, and "seeking Mr Right, no Trumpers please" went viral on dating apps. Trump's misogyny while pandering to patriarchal grievances reflected back onto his supporters, creating fractures that bled into marriage and romantic markets and beyond. While the book outlines why so many voted for an unqualified leader nostalgic for the traditional past, the ‘cultural war’ and fear of losing white superior status that recast racism as patriotism is explored. The 2021 insurrection is examined as possible forerunner for worse to come, contrasting Hitler's 1930s with Trumpism's 2020s.

But as the Trumpism movement plots a devious return to power, a political game-changer out of Left Field looms - FemPower. Since Trump’s MAGA failed men given their jobs got automated while women got hired in a postindustrial economy more congenial to female skills, the crisis in masculinity prompted those yearning for marriage and fatherhood to re-evaluate traditional masculinity. Enter ambitious women (who didn't vote the anti-feminist Trump), recognizing their smartest career move is MARRYING DOWN to helpmate "daddy-trackers" (this is contrasted with traditional marry-up strategies, hence the book doubles as self-help in today's muddled mating politics). Could this evolving new mating convention and gender dynamic with more women the primary breadwinner challenging the patriarchal tradition in how households vote, scorch Trumpism's comeback in 2024?

The book seeks to make sense of today's fractured political landscape and its impact on community and romantic life to make it unique in Trump-era books.

When King Artaxerxes' cupbearer traveled to Jerusalem, it affected more people than you might have imagined. The Bible tells us Nehemiah's brother, Hanani, made the long journey with him, but what about his sister-in-law? And suppose he had a niece named Adira.

Born in Susa, thirteen-year-old Adira doesn't consider herself a slave nor a resident of Jerusalem. She grows tired of her father working on the temple in that city her parents called home. What will it take for Nehemiah's niece to understand the true meaning of the word freedom? How will her Uncle's travels change her life, and what trials will she encounter as she makes her own journey on the rocky road to freedom?

If You Consider Time the Most Precious Asset in Your Life and Therefore Want to Read the Essentials of a Book Presented in a Clear and Concise Summary Without Missing Any Highlights of the Original Book, Then Read On…

Note to readers: This is a summary of Marc Leibovich’s book Thank You for Your Servitude: Donald Trump’s Washington and the Price of Submission and not the original book designed to enhance your reading experience!

About This Summary!

The book Thank You for Your Servitude is Mark Leibovich’s unflinching account of the moral rout of a major American political party, tracking the transformation of Rubio, Cruz, Graham, and their ilk into the administration’s chief enablers, and the swamp’s lesser lights into frantic chasers of the grift. What would these politicos do to preserve their place in the sun, or at least the orbit of the spray tan? What would they do to preserve their “relevance”? Almost anything, it turns out. Trump’s savage bullying of everyone in his circle, along with the singular command of his political base, created a dangerous culture of submission in the Republican Party. Meanwhile, many of the most alpha of lapdogs happily conceded to Mark Leibovich that they were “in on the joke.” As Lindsey Graham told the author, his supporters in South Carolina generally don’t read The New York Times, and they won’t read this book, either. All that cynicism, shading into nihilism, led to a country truly unhinged from reality, and to the events of January 6, 2021. It’s a vista that makes the Washington of This Town seem like a comedy of manners in comparison.

However, Donald Trump would not be Donald Trump if he was not preparing for his COMEBACK! He still has millions of supporters who cannot wait to see him become president of the United States again!

Why You Should Choose Book Summary Publishing!

Book Summary Publishing offers an in-depth look into the book by Marc Leibovich, Thank You for Your Servitude. This summary book breaks down all the key points, takeaways, and facts in Thank You for Your Servitude so that the reader gets an overview quickly of the most relevant insights of the original book.

This way, you will learn the key points, takeaways, and lessons to enhance your knowledge and start discussions without missing any highlights of the original book – PROMISED!

Books by Book Summary Publishing include:

  • Book Summary Overview
  • Chapter by Chapter Summary
  • Background Information About the Book
  • Background Information About the Author
  • Trivia Questions About the Book
  • Trivia Questions About the Author
  • Discussion Questions

After reading the summary of the original book, you can make an informed decision if the original book will be worth reading or not. So, this companion book is a perfect supplement to the original book, enhancing your reading experience!

Series: Adam Green (2)

A daring attempt to make a dent in the secret world of human trafficking threatens a recovering addict's sanity and sobriety.

With the help of the mentors his terminally ill father found from his deathbed, Adam Green decides to help victims piece their shattered lives back together.

Relentless thugs who lure and kidnap young women and children into exploitation and slave labor around the world make the task overwhelming. Adam starts by helping one victim, Allison, soothe her pain by finding a purpose for her life. At the same time, he develops a unique product that generates the money needed to boldly attack human trafficking.

Efforts to help more people are threatened when a newly freed victim describes her crippling fear to Adam's team. Allison escapes back into the drug addiction forced on her by the gang that abducted her. Adam reacts with intense guilt and self-doubt, pushing him to the edge of total collapse.

Will Adam stay alive and pull off his mission? Will he shatter all expectations for a recovering addict, or will he be consumed by an "industry" that destroys anyone who comes near it?

Series: The Ffrynt Trilogy (1)

‘Scofidio has an inspired and unique way of looking at the world... She is fully there in every word. She knows. And she can make us see.’ —Chet Williamson, Robert Bloch's Psycho: Sanitarium

Daere is like most of the ageing population in the run-down North Wales coastal town of Ffrynt: quiet, responsible, and born of a time when people had manners and knew their place. Not the sort to troll online bookstores, or stalk the object of her affection, or to harbour grim secrets. Certainly not the sort to, when events don't go her way, head on a violent collision course with single mum Clary—once a treasured new neighbour, now the target of a dangerous obsession...

This is Book 1 in The Ffrynt Trilogy, but can be read as a standalone. If you like a good stalker story, you may enjoy this novel.

Traditional leadership wisdom is buckling and failing.

Leaders are not only grappling with the pandemic, but a greater challenge awaits them – a storm of complex social, environmental, and economic issues that is leaving organizations extremely vulnerable.

But, as daunting as it may feel, there are substantial opportunities to thrive.

David provocatively argues that, to successfully deal with the storm, we must accept that the leadership styles that have been celebrated for centuries are now an obstacle to progress. He explores the storm-defying alternatives: key skills and traits that are now crucial for regenerating lives, livelihoods, and the planet, pointing the way to a more collaborative, innovative, successful future for leaders and their organizations.

This argument is amplified by some of the most inspiring global leaders who are successfully confronting the storm – including a former Prime Minister, former Foreign Affairs Minister, one of Fortune magazines ‘50 Greatest Leaders’, and many more.

Jamie Bishop is bored. Bored with school. Bored with training. Bored with Asylum. But adventure is coming…

He’s been counting the days until his seventeenth birthday when he will finally be an adult witch, free to travel the world. But his future plans are ruined when his absentee father pays him and his sister a visit on their thirteenth birthday with bad news. Very bad news.

A Salem Witch is about to be born, and the Bishop siblings are expected to babysit her until the Salem War is over… seventeen years from now. Jamie is stuck in Asylum for the next seventeen years. Not even magic can get him out of this.

But when the Salem Witch finally arrives, she’s nothing like Jamie expected. Hayden Black drives him insane most days, but she’s the most interesting thing to ever happen to him. Now, Jamie is determined to protect her no matter the cost, even if it means betraying his hometown of Asylum.

The Son of Fire is a short story in the world of Hayden Black and the Salem Witch Trials, an urban fantasy series intended for readers ages ten and above who love Percy Jackson and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Note: It is recommended, but not required, to read this short story after book one, The Lost Witch, as the timelines overlap and will spoil some events in book one.

Series: Allaigna's Song (3)

The Allaigna’s Song trilogy is a love story, a family saga, and a coming-of-age novel that braids together the stories of daughter, mother, and grandmother.

In the six years since Allaigna left home, killed her betrothed, and joined the Brandishear Rangers, she has hidden her family name and her ability to sing music into magic. Confronted with the dire implications of her grandfather’s exploration into long-forbidden arcana, Allaigna must swallow her pride and summon her courage to return home with the ashes of her cousin to prevent yet another war, or worse, an arcane catastrophe to rival that of the legendary Cataclysm.

Previously in the trilogy

When Allaigna was a child, she nearly sang her baby brother to sleep — forever. Heir to neither her mother’s titles nor her secrets, she inherited her grandmother’s dangerous talent for singing music into magic. Secrets are stock-in-trade for her grandmother Irdaign, who married a prince and turned the gift of the Sight into a double-edged weapon of state, and her mother Lauresa, who disappeared for two weeks en-route to her wedding to the Duke of Aerach.

At the age of fourteen, Allaigna discovered that her nurse Angeley was really her grandmother and former Princess High of Brandishear; and that Allaigna herself is the product of a tryst that occurred when her mother was lost in the Valnirata Greatwood en route to her wedding. Fuelled by hurt and anger, Allaigna stole her mother’s only keepsake of the man who rescued her — his Ilvan dagger — and fled from her home and her unwanted betrothal, hoping to find her father by retracing her mother’s decade-and-a-half-old route.

Captured by her intended husband, Lord Doniver, she avoided rape when she inadvertently killed him with her unschooled magic. Fleeing with her new-found mentor the travelling singer Morran Rhoan, she forged new friendships in both Aerach and the Sandhorn. But any clues to her birth father continued to elude her, and, stricken with grief over the harm she’d caused in her flight from home, she enlisted in the Brandishear Rangers, relinquishing her past and her magic.

Six years later, Allaigna mustered out and took a private commission from her grandfather, Prince High Chanist, which took her and a handful of mercenaries, including her cousin Goff, to the wilds of Oburakor, tasked with exploring the ancient arcane Lothgates, long thought to be inactive. After witnessing the cataclysmic destruction of a gate, Allaigna and her companions travel through hostile territory and mountain passes to make it back to the Ilmar, but not without cost.

Now, burdened by the loss of two comrades and the knowledge that the princes of the Ilmar intend to re-open the Lothgates — an action that will surely incite war and could cause a second Cataclysm to rival the destruction of Ulaonnor Mor — Allaigna must decide where her loyalties lie: with her grandfather the Prince, or with the people of the Ilmar.

An assassin who lives for the hunt. A vampire who loves the chase. A job that went wrong and a bite that changes everything.

It was supposed to be a simple job. Steal an artifact from a top-secret location, and gain intel about my sister’s killer. Instead, one false move lands me in the hands of the renowned vampire overlord, Quillian Kingsley.

Quillian is cold, callous, and notoriously ruthless. I was prepared for my death... until he tasted my blood.

After days of interrogation, we come to a mutual understanding, and I agree to his terms by swearing a Blood Oath. I stay in Esneoh to help hunt down his enemies and play the role of his doting wife. In kind, he will help me find my sister’s killer.

The job should have been easy; however, with every new kill and pursuit, I find myself drawn to the dangerous and sinfully gorgeous overlord.

There is just one problem - all roads point to him as one of the main suspects. And in this game of power, secrets, and lust, neither of us might come out alive when the truth unveils itself.

Series: Destiny Trilogy (2)

Destiny of Determination: Faith and Family illuminates the stark realities of immigrants determined to settle in America, a land of opportunity and freedom. While young Hrant’s Armenian story parallels the horrors experienced by far too many cultures in both the past and present, book 2 in the Destiny trilogy also highlights the strength and hope that live within survivors of various nightmares. After witnessing and escaping genocide, Hrant may just find American prejudice and bigotry to be manageable hurdles.

Book 1 found Hrant Gulumian, the youngest child in his family, deeply relating to his granddaughter, Cassie when her nightmares precisely mirrored his traumatic childhood experiences. Destiny of Dreams… Time Is Dear shared young Hrant’s harrowingly narrow escape from the mass deportations and attempted annihilation of the Armenians in the waning years of the Ottoman Empire.

Despite the hauntingly intense and dramatic truths in Book 1, the Destiny trilogy resumes with the powerful hope and strength known only to survivors. Book 2 completes Hrant’s voyage and sweeps the reader into his family’s new life in the USA, illuminating the vulnerability of the diaspora and all forced refugees in a new and unfamiliar land filled with language, cultural, and discrimination challenges.

Author Martin celebrates her family’s quiet determination and its refusal to lose faith, despite intolerance and numerous economic woes. Set in the 20th Century, her family’s true story shines a beacon of optimism and comfort for countless other families, hailing from many nations and struggling to endure on the way to freedom and a chance for a better life in this century.

(Note: While having read Book 1 provides a solid foundation, it is not essential. Book 2 stands independently.)

Series: The Ffrynt Trilogy (3)

‘The human heart is the last great mystery outside death. We know its dimensions. We know it’s both a muscle and an organ, a four-chambered pump the size of our closed fist. We know its physicalities. We know nothing of its soul.’

On a Monday morning, as wealthy, independent OAP Miss Twelvetrees prepares for a routine trip to the shops in Ffrynt, her life is about to be turned upside down. Literally. Against her will she finds herself the ringleader of a group of retired performers attempting to escape the prison camp feigning as retirement home they've been forced to live in.

This original, darkly humorous 'heist' caper is set in a fictional North Wales, celebrating how much better life could be if we decided that 'old' does not mean 'dead'.

This is Book 3 in The Ffrynt Trilogy, but can be read as a standalone. If you like a slow-burning caper with original characters, then you may enjoy this novel.

If you want to stop exploding at your kids and have better control over your emotional reactions, keep reading...

Do your kids often make you want to rip your hair out and explode with anger?

If so - you are not alone. According to multiple studies, 90% of parents yell at their kids in fits of rage.

And while it's normal sometimes to blow up and yell at your kids, continuous anger outbursts can seriously affect their future and your relationship with them.

The long-term effects of yelling at your kids are numerous... and scary. Regular anger episodes can provoke anxiety, low self-esteem, and increased aggression in their teenage and adult years.

As a parent, you've probably felt guilty each time you yelled at your kids - but what can you do when raised voices and sharp tones seem to be the only thing working to keep them in line?

Well, perhaps the problem doesn't lie in your kids. Maybe it goes much deeper than that - kids will be kids; they'll test your limits and push you to the brink.

But why are you angry? Why are you letting them throw you off the track and make you lose control over your emotions?

Once you turn the attention on yourself, you might be surprised to discover just how much of that anger is on you - not your kids.

Raising our voices rarely solves the situation - it might keep the kids quiet for a while.

But it never lasts - a few hours later, you're back at it again, screaming about something else.

Controlling a rogue dreamwaker holds an addictive power. But those adrift in a mind-altering limbo can still unleash payback... with a little help from their friends.

“Find me…”

Cash can’t ignore Wynter’s last words before her mind trapped her between dreams and reality. He would do anything for Wynter but finding her means finding her dreamwaker boyfriend. Cash must balance jealousy and loyalty or risk fracturing a lifelong friendship.

In retaliation, Jezebel targets Wynter’s family with an act of extreme revenge that devastates the neighborhood.

While the town sheriff builds his case against Jezebel, Cash picks up the pieces left by Jezebel's fury and sets into motion the plan to find Wynter and reunite her with her dreamwaker. But no plan is perfect, especially when Jezebel doesn’t get what she wants.

Note: This is the second book in a series that should be read in order.

Can you be whole when your world is in halves?

In the midst of an identity crisis, twenty-one-year-old Daniela retraces her roots to Cyprus. As whispers and lies resound through her grandparents’ home, she perceives their anguish at Turkey’s invasion of The North, still as raw as it was almost fifty years ago. Then her aunt invites her across the border for a picnic.

In an effort to understand their attitudinal differences, Daniela begins crossing over, too. Beyond the buffer zone she runs into Beyza, who was her girlfriend five years ago when they both lived in London and were from ‘the east’. Here and now, with Daniela in The South and Beyza in The North, everything is different.

Faiths conflict. Preconceptions collide. The divided island unravels alongside a war-fractured family. Daniela’s is a story of living with uncertainty, and of forging an identity as both yet neither.
