I liked the story and enjoyed the book overall, but I found it a bit difficult to follow at times. The POV switched frequently, sometimes in the middle of a page. There was also so much happening that it became hard to keep track of who knew what.

The lore was a little confusing too, though that's pretty much expected in the first book of a fantasy series. What I struggled with more was that some characters had multiple names, while other characters shared the same title, which made it difficult to keep everyone straight.

I was honestly confused for most of the book, but somehow it still kept me wanting to read more. It did a great job of making me curious about what would happen next.

I also had a hard time with Azul. It was show more obvious she was written to be a difficult, flawed character, but I struggled to understand her motivations or really connect with her.

Overall, it was a good book, and I'll probably end up reading the next one.
